  1. Games of interest, centrally timed, playoff odds in parenthesis: 2:55 - Phillies (26.4%) @ Cubs (99.9%) - B. Myers (7-10, 4.49) vs. T. Lilly (13-7, 4.23) 6:05 - Cardinals (5.7%) @ Astros (0.0%) - B. Looper (12-10, 3.94) vs. B. Moehler (9-5, 3.99) 6:10 - Mets (75.3%) @ Marlins (0.9%) - M. Pelfrey (13-8, 3.70) vs. R. Nolasco (13-7, 3.62) 7:10 - Dodgers (16.7%) @ Diamondbacks (78.9%) - C. Billingsley (12-10, 3.15) vs. D. Haren (14-6, 3.10)
  2. I'd take Sabathia over Harden any day... CC has shown the ability to go deep into games with effectiveness, whilst Harden has limited availability past the 6th. The playoffs are such a crapshoot, though... a couple bad games and you're done.
  3. Magic number drops All the way to 24 Without Jack Bauer
  4. Donut hits both ways Shouse should never face righties Not Yosted this time
  5. Saint Louis mascot Can be deceptive... either Card-in-als, card-nals
  6. Turnbow in pinstripes Not broken when game was blown Turnbow is teh suck
  7. That's 55 K's in 31.2 IP for Scarpetta... ay ay ay.
  8. I was pushing my baby daughter in her stroller around residential St. Paul earlier this evening, and she was covered with her Brewers blanket. We went past a couple soccer mom looking people chatting on the side walk, they smiled at her, but as soon as they saw the Brewers blanker, one of them exclaimed "Yah! Go Brewers! I went to a game last weekend! It was so awesome!" I responded by saying, "Yah, they played the Pirates pretty well!" to which she replied back "Was it the Pirates? I don't care! They're awesome!" Brewer fever has spread to suburban Minnesota, and I'm totally fine with the bandwagoneering.
  9. This guy is doing a favor to Ron Artest by comparing him to the Brewers. Artest's PR reps should eat this up! And it's true that Villa is a journeyman... he's journied from Phoenix to Beloit to Brevard to Huntsville to Nashville to Milwaukee. That's a lot of journeying! Or it could be the writer was attempting to make a sly accusation that Villa's favorite song of all time is "Don't Stop Believing"?
  10. Counting syllables An excruciating task Counting and counting
  11. Welcome to Brewerfan's quasi-annual Haiku Contest! In a Haiku In-Game Thread, all posts following this initial post MUST BE A HAIKU. But that's ok, haikus are fun! We'll use the standard haiku format for posts: First five syllables And then seven syllables One last set of five After all the posts in the thread have been made, Brewerfan's Literary Approval Staff will pick a winner for the prize. This time the prize for best haiku of the thread is a 2006 stadium give-away Derrick Turnbow bobblehead (one of the few that survived) - in pinstripes! Still in the box! Kind of dusty! Like any IGT, please stay as on topic as possible. All non-haiku posts will be immediately deleted. Good luck, and be creative! Oh, and the pitching matchup is... 12. Why do you think that? I agree that Hardy couldn't be too enthused about changing positions. If the Brewers want to keep him past 2010 and keep him at a position other than SS, they're going to have to tell him that pretty soon and sign him to an extension (say, a 4 year deal this offseason). Dealing Hart makes some sense, but not just because the Brewers have other options in the outfield coming through the system. I'd gauge interest in Hart and Fielder this offseason, but probably wouldn't move either unless I was blown away with an offer. With Cameron all but a lock to come back, Hart may be more expendable in the offseason than Fielder (or Hardy), but that doesn't mean we should trade him just yet.
  13. Most of the guys had their shirts untucked per usual, IIRC.
  14. Or watching baseball...
  15. Yah, "Idiot" sounds quite elitist and a bit condescending towards the fan base. I took it out of the thread title. If people want to spend money on the team, great. That makes the on-the-field product better for the fans who, um, "get it" I guess.

  19. The Phils/Mets series should be a pretty big deal to Brewers fans... if the Brewers make the playoffs as the Wild Card, we're going to face the NL East winner in all likelihood.

  22. McClendon has limited value as a middle 80's sinker pitcher.
  23. Josh, that was kind of cryptic... are you saying the PTBNL is an AFL player?
