Final: Reno 6, Colorado Springs 2 No game story up yet from the team. Colorado Springs Box Score All 6 runs in the game scored early on, and the Sky Sox couldn't mount a comeback. Quiet night for the offense, with Nate Orf bringing the only multi-hit bat to the park. Domingo Santana has become a little bit of a forgotten man now in AAA and while he's hitting .288/.418/.442, he's struck out 41 times in 104 ABs. Not good. Colorado Springs Game Log

Final: Missoula 14, Helena 2 Osprey Swoop In On Brewers Early To Split Series Missoula Scores 13 Runs In The First Three Innings By Greg Mroz / Helena Brewers Missoula, MT - On Thursday night in Missoula the Brewers got swooped in on early by the Osprey, as they scored 13 runs combined in the first three innings. Helena never recovered, falling 14-2 and splitting the two game set with the Osprey. Missoula's offense broke the ice in the first for the second straight night, as the Osprey put runners at the corners against Victor Castaneda with one out. Zac Almond brought home the first run with a sacrifice fly, and the inning stayed alive on an error. Brandon Leyton made the Brewers pay for their defensive mistake, pounding a ball into the left center field gap, going for a triple and scoring two runs. The Osprey kept the pedal to the floor in the second, as a leadoff walk to Cesar Garcia scored on a two out double from Blaze Alexander. Buddy Kennedy then singled home Alexander, and Zac Almond cleared the bases with his league leading ninth homer, giving Missoula the 7-0 lead after two. It ended the night for Castaneda, marking the second time in his last three starts going two innings or less. In the third Jenri Montas entered, and exited before the inning was over, as Missoula sent 11 men to the plate in frame, scoring six runs to take a 13-0 lead. Osprey starter Deyni Olivero allowed the first two Brewers to reach in the first, but then retired the next 14 Brewers he faced, with that streak being broken on a two out error in the fifth. Helena finally broke through against Olivero in the sixth, as they loaded the bases with one out on three consecutive singles. LG Castillo then popped a single into center field, scoring two. Helena's bullpen after Montas exited allowed just one unearned run over the next 5.1 innings. Tomorrow the Brewers return home for a three game series with the Billing Mustangs, who are currently in first place in the Northern division. Scott Sunitsch starts for Helena, opposed by Luis Alecis for Billings. *** *** Helena Box Score Helena Game Log

Final: AZL Padres1 7, AZL Brewers 1 AZL Brewers Box Score Starting pitcher Michele Vassalotti got BABIP-bombed, allowing 10 hits and 7 runs over 2+ innings of work. Relievers allowed just 3 baserunners the rest of the way, but the deficit was too much for the offense as the Baby Brewers fall to the Padrito Unos. Caden Lemons was one of those relievers, allowing a single in his 2 innings, while striking out 3. Ernesto Martinez and Micah Bello each had two hits. The offense managed one walk against 18 Ks. Ouch. AZL Brewers Game Log

Final: Helena 6, Missoula 3 Two Out Ninth Inning Rally Pushes Brewers Past Osprey Helena Wins For Second Time On The Road When Tied After Eight In 2018 By Greg Mroz / Helena Brewers Missoula, MT - The Brewers on a warm Tuesday night at Allegiance Field held the lead for most of the night, and gave it up in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two outs and nobody on in the top of the ninth, it looked as if the game might be going to extras in the Osprey didn't win in walk off fashion. The Brewers got the next four on, scoring three to take a 6-3 lead going into the bottom of the ninth, winning 6-3. Helena is now 5-2 in the second half. The Brewers got the first two on in the first and failed to score, and Missoula took advantage in the bottom of the frame. With one on and two out, Zack Shannon muscled up a ball to right, sailing over the fence for a two run homer, his eighth of the year. Helena though punched right back thanks to a defensive miscue. Pablo Abreu walked with two out and nobody on, and Bryan Connell hit a chopper to third that Eddie Hernandez threw wide of first. The ball rolled into the right field bullpen, scoring Abreu easily and moving Connell to third. Jesus Lujano made Hernandez pay for the mistake singling into center field, scoring Connell to tie the game. Helena took the lead in the fourth as Pablo Abreu hit a solo shot to right center field, his fifth of the year and his third in the second half. After a 20 pitch first inning, Helena starter Blake Lillis locked in, needing just 44 pitches to complete the next six innings. The lefty forced two double plays and during that stretch and faced just one batter over the minimum. Lillis went back to the mound for the eighth, but Brandon Leyton took the first pitch he saw and parked it over the left field wall, tying the game at three. Jesus Munoz walked, ending the night for Lillis. Joey Matulovich (W, 2-1) then entered and got the next three in order, with two coming on strike outs. Bryan Menendez entered for the ninth for Missoula, and got the first two he faced. Brice Turang, who already had two hits in his Helena debut, flipped a ball into left field for a hit to keep the inning alive. Yeison Coca did the same thing, setting up David Fry, who singled into center, scoring Turang and moving Coca to third, giving the Brewers the 4-3 lead. Chad McClanahan then hit a fly ball to right the David Sanchez lost in the lights. It fell for a double and scored both runners, extending the lead to 6-3. Matulovich allowed two base runners on in the ninth, but struck out the last two to end the game. He has earned the win in each of his last two appearances, striking out 12 over six innings. Helena looks for their third win in a row tomorrow as Victor Castaneda takes the hill, opposed by Deyni Olivero. First pitch is at 7:05 PM, with the pregame show hitting the airwaves of helenabrewers.net at 6:55 PM. *** *** Helena Box Score Brice Turang certainly made an impression in his debut with Helena. Batting second in the order and playing shortstop, the Brewers' first rounder had three singles and a walk in 4 official at-bats. He stole a base as well. Turang is now hitting .353/.452/.392 with 8 steals in 9 attempts between the AZL and Helena. Unless he falls on his face or gets injured between now and April of next year, it's pretty much a guarantee that Turang will be part of the 2019 Timber Rattlers squad on opening day. The bottom three in the order all had 2 hits: CF Pablo Abreu (2-3, 2B, HR, BB, K), 1B Bryan Connell (2-4, 2B), and RF Jesus Lujano (2-4). The 18-year-old Abreu is now hitting .287/.400/.500 (127 wRC+), nearly at the coveted 3/4/5 slash. Can not wait to see him next year in Wisconsin as well. Only two Brewers pitchers were used, which is somewhat odd for a Pioneer League game. Blake Lillis made it through the first 7 innings and 2 batters, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and a walk. Also odd and very similar to Victor Castaneda's start last Friday, Lillis struck out absolutely no one. It's good to see Blake go 7+, but he's got to start missing more bats. He has only 18 Ks in 36.1 innings this year, though his 53% GB rate makes up for that a little. Joey Matulovich relieved Lillis and recorded the final 6 outs, 5 of them via K to contrast Lillis' work. He worked around a Turang error and a walk in the 9th to close it out and get the second win of his career. Matulovich has struck out 17 in 13.1 innings as a pro. Helena Game Log

Per Brewers' PD, Jacob Nottingham to the Sky Sox DL, C Dustin Houle transferred to Colorado Springs from Carolina, and perhaps most intriguingly, SS Brice Turang has been promoted from the AZL to Helena. Imagine C Nate Rodriguez will be activated from Carolina's Temp Inactive List to backfill Houle's spot. -
Here's my top what turned out to be 119. The prospects are grouped by OFP, which is based on scouting reports and adjusted for risk level, age relative to league, defense, and a number of production metrics. I tried to stay out of the way of the data as much as possible so no one got any special adjustments - if I made a change to any of the formulas, the change was made globally. If I don't have a scouting report from an outside source and I haven't seen the player myself, the player got a max base OFP of 35. Statistical adjustments were made based on both current year and 2.5-year production timeframes. If you're unaware, OFP stands for Overall Future Potential and is more or less synonymous with FV (Future Value). It's a player's scouting grades condensed into one catch-all future potential grade. I would call a grade of anything less than 35 an organizational player, so players with OFPs of 30 and under are not included here. These OFP grades are fluid, though. Final: AZL Brewers 4, AZL Angels 2 AZL Brewers Box Score Just 4 scattered singles for the Baby Brewers but Angels pitchers walked 11, and 4 early runs held up and the AZL club moves to 4-2 in the second half. Korry Howell, playing 3B and SS, was on base 3 times via a single and 2 walks. Howell also stole 2 more bases, giving him 8 on the year in 8 attempts. In potential promotion-to-Helena news, Edwin Sano did not play and Brice Turang was pulled in the 6th inning for no apparent reason. Jayson Rose made his second rehab start and threw 2 full innings this time, allowing no runs. Freisis Adames (4 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K) and Joel Pinto (3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 K) finished things off. Pinto's save was his first as a professional. AZL Brewers Game Log

Final: Helena 4, Missoula 3 Brewers Earn Series Split With One Run Win Helena Now 8-2 In One Run Games By Greg Mroz / Helena Brewers Helena, MT - Helena has been locked in in close games in 2018, and got another big win in a close battle on Tuesday night against Missoula. The Brewers got three runs in the third inning and never trailed, holding off a consistent Missoula attack to win 4-3. Helena is now 8-2 in one run games. Helena broke the scoreless tie in the third, as Bryan Connell started the inning with a single to right. Missoula starter Andy Toelken got the next two, but Yeison Coca delivered with a double just right of the batters eye, scoring Connell to make it 1-0 Brewers. David Fry then doubled home Coca, and Chad McClanahan followed with an RBI single of his own, making it 3-0 Brewers. Brewers starter Wilfred Salaman was back to his dominant ways, starting his outing with four shutout innings, not allowing a hit. The only base runners that reached in that span were two walks to Buddy Kennedy. However, Missoula's offense woke in the fifth, as Salaman issued a leadoff walk to Nick Dalesandro, and Jesus Munoz singled with one out. David Sanchez singled home Dalesandro to make it 3-1 Brewers, but Salaman got the next two to end the inning. The Osprey pushed a run closer in the sixth, as Kennedy started with a double, and scored with one out on a single from Dalesandro. Zack Shannon stood at second with one out, and Salaman got Brandon Leyton to fly out to left, keeping Shannon at second. Manager Nestor Corredor then went to the pen for Michael Mediavilla, who got Jesus Munoz to fly out to end the frame. Mediavilla held the line out of the Brewers bullpen, striking out four over 2.1 scoreless innings. The Brewers got a key insurance run from Chad McClanahan in the bottom of the eighth, as he left the yard with a solo blast. Helena needed it, as Leyton started the ninth inning with a solo homer to cut the Helena lead to one. Peter Strzelecki then bore down and got the next three in order, securing the victory. Helena heads to Missoula tomorrow for a two game series at Allegiance Field, with first pitch tomorrow scheduled for 7:05 PM. Blake Lillis takes the hill for Helena, opposed by Erin Baldwin for Missoula. *** *** Helena Box Score With Eddie Silva off to Wisconsin, Jean Carmona off to the Orioles and Nick Egnatuk/Luis Avila not available for duty (reason not given), the Brewers were down to literally two healthy infielders for Tuesday's game. Chad McClanahan got the start at third base, Yeison Coca played shortstop, and normally-catcher Bryan Torres played second. Torres had played around the infield a little in the DSL, including 31 innings at second base so the position wasn't totally foreign. From what I can tell from Greg Mroz' call, Torres looked fine on defense at the keystone so it's possible the Brewers will keep him out there from time to time. I would expect at least one infield call up from the AZL in the near future. Edwin Sano did not play in last night's AZL game, and he seems like an obvious candidate to be bumped up. Coca had 3 hits to lead the offense, while McClanahan and Torres each added 2. McClanahan hit his 7th home run, which ties him for the team lead with David Fry. Coca, Torres, and Fry each hit a double. Wilfred Salaman continued to get results with iffy peripherals, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits while walking and striking out 3, in 5.2 innings of work. Michael Mediavilla continued to get results with great peripherals - he hasn't allowed an earned run with Helena in 5.2 innings, while he's allowed 2 hits, 2 walks, struck out 10, and has induced a truckload of groundballs. Final: Missoula 14, Helena 7 Osprey Double Up Brewers To Win Series Opener Brewers Tie Game Down Five But Allow The Last Seven By Greg Mroz / Helena Brewers Helena, MT - The Brewers on Monday night at Kindrick Legion Field fell in a five run hole early to Missoula, but came back to tie the game with a five run sixth. However, the Osprey scored three in the seventh and fourth in the eighth to cruise to a 14-7 victory over the Brewers. Helena has now lost four straight home games for the first time all season. Missoula got the scoring started in the second as Zach Shannon blasted a solo homer to dead away center field. Helena quickly countered in the bottom of the second with a solo blast of their own, courtesy of LG Castillo. The Osprey though busted the game open initially in the third, as all nine men came to the plate with five runs scoring. Eddie Hernandez, Buddy Kennedy, and Nick Dalesandro each had RBIs, while Zac Almond drove home two with a double. Helena got a run back in the fourth on a Pablo Abreu solo homer, but gave it right back in the fifth as Almond left the yard to deep right center, his eighth of the year. The Brewers furious comeback came in the sixth, as they sent all nine to the plate, scoring five to tie the game. Je'Von Ward started the scoring with a 2 RBI double, and Abreu and Jose Sibrian doubled home runs to make it a one run ballgame. Sibrian would score on a wild pitch with Yeison Coca up, tying the game at seven. Helena's tie would be short lived, as three straight Osprey singles gave them the lead back in the top of the seventh against Tate Budnick (L, 0-1). Two more in the frame scored on a sac fly from Shannon and an error on a Dalesandro ground ball. Missoula then busted the game open with a four run eighth, highlighted by another two RBI double from Zac Almond. Almond finished the night 3 for 5 with five RBI, marking the second time this season he's driven home five in a game. Helena finishes up the quick two game series tomorrow at 7:05 PM as Wilfred Salaman takes the hill. Righty Andy Toelken goes for Missoula, making his second start of the year. *** *** Helena Box Score Helena Game Log -
Just curious, why don't you use WARP? WARP is what brings it down closer to 2.5. I also think $9 million/WAR is quite generous of you look at WAR from a projection standpoint. $/WAR for SPs has recently been as low as under $5 million. And has never been over $6 million. I just did some quick math on MLB FA contracts for SPs this past offseason and using ZiPS projections, I get $5,683,000/WAR for starting pitchers. If $6 million/WAR is used, Gausman's surplus value is closer to $15-$20 million.
