  1. I thought it was entertaining if you were willing to let go completely of reality and be entertained by it. If you thought about the movie at all during or after, it was most definitely a mess. Case in point, LFoDH had one of the most obnoxiously named "government agencies" I've ever seen coughed up onto the screen: The National Department of Information. That's right, kids, The National Department of Information. When I saw that go on the screen, I nearly peed myself. And then I thought, "Well, at least they didn't call it The National Department of Stuff."
  2. I wonder if Luis Guerrero is related to Cristian/Vlad? He's from the same town in the Dominican.
  3. It is unfortunate timing that the Brewers released Mateo before Hall got hurt. He might be in AAA now instead of looking for a job. I'd like to see them move up Katin and Errecart a level now that there's an extra spot in AAA.
  4. Inman's ERA is still 8+. While his outing did not suck, he has overall. "Settling in" may be a bit more optimistic than truthful at this point. That's an odd statement to make after all of 22 IP in AA. The strike outs and lack of walked batters are still there. Really, he's just given up a lot more hits and home runs than normal, which is to be expected when you move up a level, especially when you move up to AA at 20 years of age. Actually, one other thing that has been out of whack since his move to AA has been his GB/FB ratio. Will Inman Fan, do you know if the Brewers are having Will work at putting more sink on his fastball? Will has always been a fly ball pitcher, but he's been predominately given up ground balls in his short stay thusfar in Huntsville. One more thing... it is getting to the point where the Brewers might have to make room for Balfour in the bullpen in Milwaukee. His numbers are just downright sick.
  5. Heether had some back issues last year, IIRC. They may have been lingering into April, or maybe it just took him that long to get his timing back at the plate. He can play 1B/2B/3B/LF/RF, all adequately. He hasn't played 2B in awhile, but he can. He's a good athlete, with a very good idea at the plate. Not enough power to stick as an everyday player possibly outside of 2B, but he's a very nice utility prospect.
  6. Hinton was almost unhittable early in the season, and now lately is quite the opposite. It's might be a nagging arm injury, it might be that they are having him throw the slider or fastball a different way... who knows? RH still has a good arm, and despite the demotion, still figures in the Brewers long term plans. If he is working on the fastball, slider, or a new pitch, they might be sending him down to Brevard to start some so he can work on it over longer outings.
  7. I think I'm staying with the beard until the Brewers either clinch or get clinched out. This whole not shaving thing has really done wonders for waking up later in the morning.
  8. I've only listened to Richard Swift's "Dressed Up for a Letdown" and Eluvium's "Copia" once or twice, but either of them could be in the top 10 if I had bought them a little earlier. I also don't have a problem putting the Elliott Smith compilation on the list because it has all unreleased stuff on it... unreleased comps and concerts are fair game to me. It's just those greatest hits comps that don't have a place, IMO. 1. Elliott Smith, "New Moon" 2. Panda Bear, "Person Pitch" 3. Wilco, "Sky Blue Sky" 4. of Monteal, "Hissing Fauna..." 5. LCD Soundsystem, "Sound of Silver" 6. The Field, "From Here We Go Sublime" 7. The National, "Boxer" 8. Modest Mouse, "We Were Dead..." 9. Low, "Drums and Guns" 10. Matthew Dear, "Asa Breed" The new Deerhunter and The Good, The Bad & The Queen releases are right up there too for me. And I can't wait for the albums from Portishead, Massive Attack, Interpol, Underworld, Radiohead, and a number of others I'm forgetting.
  9. Greg, I have to make this short because I'm borrowing someone else's computer, but Brett explained my point of view almost exactly. Brantley could draw a walk in Milwaukee right now, but that doesn't mean it would be helping his development to put him there. Brantley's biggest flaw is his lack of strength... IMO, he needs to be at a place where he can feel comfortable enough at the plate to be able to work on his power game as well as his basic approach at the plate. If that place is Huntsville, great, but I'd really like to see him mash a little more in Brevard (as much as anyone could mash there). Not to mention, he'd be playing with Ford and Cain, whom I really see as being the core of the next great wave of Brewers prospects. If he can handle AA, great. I'm just not sure that the risk is completely worth the reward. Mike needs to get bigger and stronger... could be they just have better restaurants in the Southern League. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif And Heether is still valuable because he can play 2B, 1B and the OF in addition to third.
  10. Cappy is alright-smart. Yay for no more Latin Cappy.
  11. I hated the Rogers pick, and I still hate it. Nothing against Mark... he should have been a 1st round pick, but to a team drafting later on. I have talked about it early and often... with Sowers, Diamond and Weaver still on the board, it was a bad pick. That's all there is to it. That said, I hope he succeeds. With his awkward pitching motion (yes, I'm an amateur scout, Al), and even with it fixed, he's still a liability. I hope they picture him a relief guy , because that's all I honestly see in his future if he makes it.
  12. As far as drafting for need, that is difficult to prove. First, if you draft a pitcher, who doesn't need pitchers? Second, if you draft a hitter, how many positions are there on the diamond? In Jack Z. I trust.
  13. I was excited when I got home and saw a Caleb Gindl thread had a bunch of responses, then very disappointed when it was a steroid discussion. Can't we keep this out of the minor league forum (except when applicable to a specific player)? Patrick referenced Brian Giles after we drafted Caleb, and I'm happy with that comp. Caleb is one of my favorite players in the organization, and I hope to see him sometime this summer. I was gushing over Corey Hart 7 years ago, and Caleb seems to be the opposite version of Corey in stature, yet similar in prospect status. I can't wait to follow him.
  14. which notable Wisconsin born and bred players does the team have in their system Vinny Rottino.
  15. Eric Newton needs to be moved back off of 1B if the Brewers think of him as a prospect. He had an arm injury last year, so I'll give him the rest of the year to work it out, but if he's not in WV playing 2B next season, it's hard to project him. Grant Balfour needs to be in Milwaukee sooner than later. It is not helping Michael Brantley to walk every other AB in AA. Jose Garcia MK II is pretty exciting with his GB/FB ratio.
  16. If he keeps this up for another few weeks, he may well join LaPorta in West Virginia. No sense keeping Caleb in Helena if he is overmatching the competition. Now all he has to do is keep overmatching it through mid-July. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Can never have enough lefties in the farm system. Assuming Cody is assigned to Brevard, 23 years old in advanced-A ball isn't bad at all for a pitcher. As the old saying goes, "What do you want for nothing?"
  18. Just noticed that Chad Robinson hasn't pitched yet for the H-Crew. Was there some word on an injury to him I missed, or has he just not seen any time yet? I'm really looking forward to seeing him pitch.
  19. Manny Parra off to another very good start, albeit not quite as good as his last one. Inman doing well out of the gate, too. Good to see.
  20. Ah, the misses of the amateur scouts. I'm no scout either, but at least I know it. What exactly does this have to do with Corey Hart's trade value in the past, present, or otherwise?
  21. I know virtually nothing about this, but what exactly is an "enclosure"? An enclosure turns an internal hard drive into an external hard drive. FWIW, it's always been cheaper for me to buy an internal hard drive and a separate enclosure than a factory-built external. That might not still be the case, tho. You can get an enclosure for around $20 w/shipping on eBay... I think I paid $25 for mine at CompUSA. There's also the advantage in buying two separate components where if one breaks, you still have the other. That WD drive I talked about earlier was bought as an external hard drive... if it hadn't been factory sealed, I could have at least salvaged the enclosure and used it for my next hard drive. If they are priced about the same, I'd opt for the internal HD/enclosure tandem, but if the external costs less, I don't think it matter all that much.
  22. Brett, it turned out that it was my CompUSA enclosure that stopped working, not my hard drive. I've been very happy with my Seagate purchases over the years... the one time I didn't buy a Seagate, I got a Western Digital, and that thing died inside of a year. I've had 3-4 Seagates, and have never had one die on me. I have another question about Macs... would it be better for me to wait until October when OS X Leopard is released? My Dell is on its very last legs, but I don't want to have to upgrade to a new OS right away either. Does anyone know the upgrade cost I would face from Tiger to Leopard?
  23. ........ ........ ........ ........ ........ OMG! What the heck!??!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  24. Well if they would call up Parra, that likely means it's for bullpen help and that means the rumor that Parra can't warm up that fast so he couldn't come out of the pen appears to be false. Not necessarily false, just either something they have to work on, or something they aren't worried about Parra being able to change. With all the talk of Yo limiting his innings, Manny will most certainly have to do the same thing. My guess is they'll limit him to 160 IP max, maybe even less. His time in the starting rotation is about over come August regardless which team he is playing for.
