  1. Always big to get a Game 1 win in a five-gamer. Peralta did the #1 Starter job today. Offense scored early and often, but then almost ran away to hide. Gave up three homers, but they were all solo shots; two of them with the big lead. Can't ask for much more, though the Chourio injury does cast a bit of a pall over the day.
  2. The Brewers offense going nearly dormant for their last five offensive innings lends to that feeling of weirdness.
  3. Civale is saving the rest of the Cubs bullpen with that performance so far.
  4. Being able to finish the game out without giving the Cubs any bonus looks at the top tier relievers could be helpful for the remainder of the series. Could use a few more tack-on runs in the 6th inning to put the game well out of reach.
  5. Seems like getting 17 outs is the cap for Brewers pitchers in the playoffs. Would've liked a full six innings, but a good start from Peralta.
  6. Another zero for Peralta. One walk and three strikeouts in the 5th.
  7. Certainly hate to lose Chourio for any extended time in the playoffs, if that's what turns out to be the case with the injury. The vibes are bad. It's another of those post-season experiences for the Brewers. But this same team did go on a heater immediately after Chourio's injury at the end of July and had a solid month of baseball when he was on the IL. Maybe they can do so again.
  8. Got another scoreless inning from Peralta. With the big lead it could be a chance to get an extended start out of him, if he is a bit more efficient and limits the walks.
  9. Here's the MLB Postseason Roster Rules & Eligibility: https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility
  10. Some of the Brewers podcasters were talking about that topic earlier this week. Apparently a replacement on the roster in the Division Series makes that player ineligible for the League Championship Series, but could return for the World Series.
  11. Turang can't come up with the big 2-out hit again. Two K's in that spot. About the only complaint with offensive performance so far. (Chourio injury is another matter.)
  12. Look at those batting eyes on Ortiz. Another walk.
  13. Durbin with a fine piece of 2025 Brewers hitting. More runs.
  14. That's fairly tidy from Freddy. Will do just fine.
  15. Okay, Freddy. That is what is called run support. Need a shutdown inning after all that.
  16. If Turang can tank one here, the place will go absolutely nuts.
  17. Like that Murphy didn't sell out with the right-handed batters with the starting lineup. Still balanced left-right to face Chicago's relievers in this game.
  18. Excellent at bat from Perkins! Cash in another run!
  19. Hope that gets the home run out of the way for Peralta. Punch back on offense. Crooked number, please.
  20. I do recall Dom Controneo suggesting the idea--maybe on the SEP 27 post-game show--that having Yelich hit in the leadoff spot may been an experiment to see if the #9 hitters, Joey Ortiz in particular, would get better pitches to hit when the lineup circles around. I would chalk that up to tinkering with an idea during the last week of the season, where games weren't so critical to win. Frelick at leadoff, with Yelich and Turang in either the 3rd or 5th spot of the lineup seems to make more sense in the playoffs where every game matters.
  21. Avoided the sweep. Got some good vibes for the flight home. Could clinch the #1 spot before playing another game, depending on the Phillies.
  22. Another empty inning despite runners on base.
