  1. Uribe with a Devin Williams impersonation to start. Basically need to strike out the side from bases loaded now.
  2. Only got the smallest of crooked numbers after all that. Still a chance in the 9th. Gotta get the shutdown inning first.
  3. Concerning the #1 seed issue, I think the difference this year would potentially having home field advantage against Philadelphia for an NLCS might be significant. As expected, all of the NL playoff teams have better home records than road records. But the drop-off from home to away is much more pronounced for all the other NL contenders than for the Brewers, who have the best road record of all of them. That said, I'd much rather play a deciding game in American Family Field than Citizens Bank Park, which is a zoo in the playoffs. Concerning the last bit, it might be nothing that the team hasn't been playing well recently. But it does conjure up a few 2021 vibes where the team sort of stumbled toward the regular season finish line and couldn't get it in gear for the NLDS against Atlanta. Still a few series left to avoid that, but it would be good to see more than just a couple sparks of a better finish.
  4. Miz hasn’t been good since the All Star Break. Yes, he had a good start at Pittsburgh last Sunday. But the numbers against more quality lineups (CIN, CHC, AZ, PHI) have been just good enough to keep a starting spot, but hardly a playoff rotation spot. Going into tonight’s game, he has the following stat line: 7 GS, 29.1 IP, 24 H, 17 ER, 2 HR, 13 BB, 44 SO. That’s a 5.22 ERA and a 1.261 WHIP. Remove that 7 IP, 3H, and 1 ER performance against the Pirates, and those numbers get much worse. Tonight doesn’t help either. It looks like Miz may have maxed out where he can be for 2025 against average to above average major league hitters. Perhaps he’s needed to fill out the rotation for a game against the Angels, but the Padres will likely be tough along with a Reds team possibly chasing the playoffs.
  5. Ashby managed to wriggle out of that with no runs, but not putting away batters with two strikes made it more difficult.
  6. Huge at bat for Frelick with bases loaded and two outs.
  7. The tradeoff of defense for offense between Perkins and Chourio is significant, but have to live with it to get the bat in the lineup.
  8. That four-spot in the 3rd feels just a little light with the gift runs. But that is a 2025 Brewers type inning with the walks and putting the ball in play leading to runs.
  9. Not the prototypical sacrifice fly for Chourio, but the error is a nice bonus.
  10. Need to cash in with bases loaded, none out, and the top of the order up. Didn't get many big hits during the sweep in Texas.
  11. If the Mets could come through with a win tonight or tomorrow (or both), this sweep may be more a slight bump in the road toward securing the top record. Other than possibly the Toronto series, it hasn't been great baseball recently when playing against teams around the .500 mark or in the playoff chase (CHC, SF, AZ, PHI, TEX). Don't need to get on an absolute heater going into the playoffs, but not limping into the playoffs would also be good. Hope the home series this weekend will start a syncing process rather than create a sinking feeling.
  12. Rhys swinging 3-0 to drive in a run while pinch-hitting for Ortiz. Guess you can let the veteran swing there.
  13. Probably showed that with the first Texas batter in the 4th after not getting a hit with the bases loaded. Just wish it wasn't Ortiz so frequently at bat when needing a hit to score runs.
  14. Well, we got the "Peralta Falter Inning" in the 3rd. Managed to limit the damage to two runs. Plenty of time left in the game.
  15. Needed some better batted ball luck. Some very hard hit outs throughout the game. Looked like it should have been enough to get a win with a Patrick spot start. Avoid the sweep tomorrow and hope the Mets show up in at least one of their remaining two games with the Phillies this week.
