  1. The Brewers team speed with the youngsters playing this year is so fun to watch in games. Just a whole different vibe from last season.
  2. Can’t even get replay right. Still the stupidest replay system in sports. Doesn’t excuse the poor baserunning decision.
  3. Blake Perkins walk off. Not the expected result, but a good one.
  4. Good to get one back. Could’ve used that with runners on base last inning.
  5. This team’s record versus other teams in last place of their divisions is highly unimpressive.
  6. Jesse Winker to the 10-Day Injured List. One way he won't be in games for a while.
  7. No call up of Hiura with Winker going on the 10-Day Injured List. Gives more credence to the idea that no call up should be expected for Hiura until after the Trade Deadline, if at all.
  8. Walkoff win is well within the run of play for the game. So many baserunners not cashed in. Well deserved for the pitching staff to not get hung with a loss. But it’s another grind-it-out win that shows how hard it is to string lots of singles together to score runs. Really could use adding a couple #3–5 hitters with some power and at least average contact to this lineup at the trade deadline.
  9. Gotta love playoff-style baseball in late-July. It has to be the “Sal Frelick Game” going forward in Brewers history.
  10. If this is the Burnes who shows up for the next two months, it’s going to be having a true ace topping the rotation. Strong way to embark on a divisional title race with the potential for chasing finishing #2 in the league standings.
  11. Gotta cash in the 9th Inning insurance run opportunity.
  12. Oh yeah, sweep Cincinnati on the road to kick off the “Second Half” of the season! Just stay away from any sweep suits before boarding the plane to Philadelphia.
  13. Frustrating loss. Some good offense shown, though not cashing in with the bases loaded and two out in the 6th hurt. Failure to convert shutdown innings after scoring was a big storyline. Then we got the de la Cruz circus, followed by the ump show. Reds lineup causes some coveting. Brewers lineup needs to find at least one more solid bat, probably two. “First Half” ends on Sunday. Not a must-win, but it seems bigger than a typical July game.
  14. Throwing the lead away in one fell swoop. Absolutely last thing desired after scoring a few runs. Needed a shutdown inning.
  15. Wilson pitched 1.0 IP on Tuesday and 1.2 IP on Wednesday. So I can see having two off days for a reliever like that. But this is a gut punch loss that should’ve been a win even with a patchwork bullpen. Wiemer’s misplay of the double in the 8th didn’t help, either. Don’t know what even to do with Bush at this point other than DFA’ing him. Just been a non-positive factor after being acquired as a potential backup closer/setup man.
  16. College player with a few years in the minors before hitting the bigs. Short stature, left-handed hitting outfielder who could stick in CF but not be a top-of-league defender at that position. Seems like he might be a comp to Brett Butler.
  17. Early days, obviously, so a bit hazardous to draw full conclusions. But it’s a bit unfortunate that the Anderson contract didn’t include a team options for a second year. (Unless I missed something.) Seems like that might have been one of those buy-low possibilities this past winter.
  18. That would be a nice development. I would imagine that the planned team would be an expansion franchise into the USL Championship, the level below Major League Soccer in our American soccer pseudo-pyramid. That level is in process of expansion, adding a team in Des Moines, IA in 2024. You can see the list of current USL Championship teams in the following link, which are hosted by cities of similar size to Milwaukee: https://www.uslchampionship.com/league-teams A couple other online articles suggest the same: https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2022/05/20/eyes-on-milwaukee-soccer-stadium-concert-venue-planned-for-downtown/ https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/2022/05/new-milwaukee-soccer-stadium-pitched-as-part-of-entertainment-complex/
  19. Samori Toure with the last Packers pick. Saw that name mentioned a good bit.
  20. 2nd Round run in WRs continues. Skyy Moore to KC. They’ll find a way to use his skills.
  21. Alec Pierce at #53. Would’ve liked him as a WR addition.
  22. Here’s some of the on-field things that Wyatt can do. (Similar write up to what Julio Muchado linked to above on Walker.) https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/devonte-wyatt-jordan-davis-georgia-defense-2022-nfl-draft/
  23. Hope Wyatt’s off field issues can be curbed. Some major red flags out there. https://walterfootball.com/nflhotpress/article/Teams-Dropping-Wyatt-From-Boards-Over-Repeated-Domestic-Violence
