    Pressure is getting home on Goff. Big stop. Need to cash in for points with the shorter field and under 2 minutes in the half.

    Stretch the lead to 17 points. If the defense can get one more stop in the half, finishing with points on the last possession could be huge.

    Doesn’t hurt to get something back if the team was declining the option year. Looks like that’s what happened. Never know if one of those minor league relievers can turn into a serviceable MLB bullpen arm. Get Holub in the lab this Winter and Spring to see.

    I could see Baltimore as a team that the Brewers match up with for trades. Others have mentioned this previously in other threads, so this isn't a fully original thought. The Orioles should be competitive next season but certainly could use a #1/#2 starting pitcher. Bautista's injury means they could also use a closer. Corbin Burnes and Devin Williams would both be potential trade targets for Baltimore. Such a combination deal should bring high return back for the Brewers. Baltimore has a lot of near-MLB-ready infield talent in their upper minors. They already brought up Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg, and Joey Ortiz to the majors. They probably have room for one more of their prospect infielders (e.g. Coby Mayo, Jackson Holliday). But it seems like they have a similar problem as the Brewers: more IF prospects than spots in the lineup, like Milwaukee has more OF prospects than spots in the lineup. So Baltimore seems to be a good matchup. Target Mayo as the cornerstone of a trade deal to become the longterm 3B in Milwaukee. Scanning Baltimore's Top 30 prospects, you could look to pick up several others. I'd look to include both Samuel Basallo (C) and Connor Norby (2B), both in their Top 10. Target a pitching prospect for the last player return (Chayce McDermott?) or look for two A/A+ players (high ceiling/mid-to-low floor). I'm sure others may have better ideas, but Baltimore seems like one of those "it just makes sense" type of trade targets.

    Coaching staff had a week and a half to prepare the team for the game. If the product on the field reflects that, then I don’t know what positive thing to say.

    Watson was pretty close to doing so. He basically had to start his sprint from a standstill. Nearly beat the Raiders safety who had a decent angle and a running start. Don’t know if the turf track might be just a little slow also.

    Why run Dillon out of shotgun formation? He’s not the type of running back for those plays. Compare to the TD drive where he could get momentum into the line. Poor play calling in the red zone.

    Still a bit irritated that the season ended like that. Not just a first-round loss, but a sweep in two games that illustrated the shortcomings of the team roster—both one realized much in the regular season (not converting RISP chances) and what was a worst-case thought (the team’s strength of pitching not showing up as anticipated in the playoffs). But the results weren’t totally unexpected. The Woodruff injury news pretty much removed my thinking about a deep run in the playoffs. So this week wasn’t devastating. That said, I really would like to have a chance to see a Brewers World Series appearance as a fan, let alone a win. (The 1982 appearance is barely a faint memory of being the only non-Cardinal fan in the local St. Louis kindergarten class.) There are some suggestions that the future might be bright enough to get more playoff berths in the near future. But that hurdle of winning a pennant still remains the challenge.

    Last interception might look worse than it was. Bad play result, obviously. But some more experience between Love and Doubs should lead to understanding what each was going to do. Love missed reading a late deep route play in Atlanta also. Both could’ve been touchdowns had the QB and WR been in sync and had that one extra beat in the pocket. Should come with some more game experience..

    Oxymoronic penalty. Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a demonstration of athletic skill, which didn’t offend anyone’s sensibilities, deliberately injure a player, or taunt an opponent. The NFL can make such a play illegal—which I disagree with—but at least call the penalty something else.

    Good report, Jimbo. Sounds like you had a good trip. It's worth the trek to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. I would endorse late summer and fall as an excellent time of year to visit Cooperstown and/or other parts of the region out here in the Mid-Atlantic.
