  1. Small ball run this inning. Interesting to see. Might need that type of scoring in a playoff game, which this feels a bit like today.
  2. Held Atlanta to a field goal. Answered with a touchdown drive. That’s how you want to respond.
  3. Some of the value of picking him up at the trade deadline is definitely the defense that Santana brings. Both the offense and defense at 1st Base had been an issue this season.
  4. How about a patented Canha HBP? Anything to get the run in.
  5. Donaldson cashes in an RBI opportunity. Seems to be hitting the ball hard most times when making contact.
  6. Didn’t land the knockout blow, but hard to be mad at scoring three runs to open the game. Get a shutdown inning in the 2nd and some tack-on runs early.
  7. Superb baserunning by Santana on Tellez’ looping liner. Great read. Scoring from 2nd Base on that was a bit unexpected.
  8. Can’t start a game much better than Burnes did in the Top 1st.
  9. If Wiemer is only going to contribute pinch-running and defense, he can’t get picked off like that.
  10. Mudcats had several opportunities, but couldn’t find those needed two-out hits with RISP. Tough way for the season to end, but unless you win it all, every playoff team goes home somewhat disappointed.
  11. And gone for Santana for the lead…..
  12. Contreras with a macho homer. Big fly to tie.
  13. Thanks for sharing that. Good improvement. Guess that it’s hard to shake off bad memory and “anecdata.”
  14. Walk a guy, then pick him off. That’s a fair exchange.
  15. Glad the Brewers aren’t facing a lefty starter. 3-run deficit going into the Bottom 1st is a big hole. Seems to be a better chance to put up runs against a righty starter. But tough to be fully optimistic.
  16. Nice easy 11-pitch save for Williams. Gotta like that to close out a series win. Just keep posting series wins.
  17. Milner didn’t seem to have it either. Not sure what to do with that from a pitching standpoint. Fired all the bullets in the magazine. Had 10+ no-hit innings. Needed the offense to do something in regulation innings. Then when the runs did come, there was little left to hold the lead. Almost the entire season in microcosm. Bad loss of a different sort. That said, I don’t know what goes through Burnes’ mind after some of these recent starts all ending up in team losses. Can’t be good.
  18. Brewers’ “Lowest Man on the Bullpen Depth Chart” this season has been dreadfully bad. Don’t expect much from that spot, but it seems to be just a bunch of kerosene cans down there in that position.
  19. Got both the lead run and an insurance run. Up to the bullpen to close out the win. Tall order, but a little lower.
  20. Losing the no-hitter in the 11th is disappointing. So close to history. Need to figure out a way to get the win to go away with some good feeling.
  21. Getting some of the help from the Snakes that the Giants didn’t give. Nice to see. Time to capitalize.
  22. Off to a good start to puking up a 3.5 game divisional lead in one week.
