  1. Hope that Morton isn't as sharp on short rest. If that's the case, we might see: (a) Fastball velocity down a click or two. (b) Some cement-mixer curveballs that can be hit hard. © Less command leading to walks. Any of those would be well-received. If they show up, the offense needs to take advantage.
  2. I would think so. Hard to break up the routine of being on five days' rest that was used all season long. Plus you're listening to the pitcher himself making that assessment. That said, I don't think Lauer is going to be the reason why the Brewers don't win Game 4. I'd expect a good enough performance from him that means the offense needs to score 4 runs to win. The onus is on the bats. Of course, Lauer could just blowup. But based on the info given, it looks like starting him is essentially the only call to make today.
  3. If managing the Braves, I'd be inclined to run Smyly out there and see if the Brewers can hit off the LHP starter. Even if it's just to go one or two times through the batting order. Then piggyback Ynoa, depending on the game situation.
  4. They are 0-for-15 with RISP in the series through the 7th inning of Game 3. The Tellez homer in Game 1 was with a runner on 1st Base, so not RISP.
  5. Unbelievable. Actually quite believable with the offense this team has. Just toss away scoring chances.
  6. Astros and White Sox get to play Game 4 tomorrow (Tuesday, OCT 12). Postponed because of large rain-producing weather system moving in. (Actual rain, not Chicago Cubs "rain out".) https://sports.yahoo.com/alds-astros-white-sox-game-163201055.html
  7. Down the middle for Mason. Didn’t expect it, but finally got it done.
  8. Must have a touchdown now. Can’t kick the ball.
  9. Bats need to show up in Games 3 & 4 after tonight’s performance…or lack thereof. Had a .617 winning percentage on the road this year. So there’s some hope for a couple road wins.
  10. 78 pitches through 5.0 IP for Burnes. If he can get a short 6th Inning, he could be able to push into the 7th. Need some offense to show up.
  11. Bringing over a partial quote from the Wild Card Game Thread: What makes the Dodgers such a tough out in the playoffs is their roster full of players who can produce the "one-man rally" home run or capitalize after getting a runner or two on base. Couple that with several starters who can give up one or two baserunners in an inning but shut down the opposition before they can get a hit with RISP. But the Giants have a 10-9 record against the Dodgers this year with a -2 run differential: 78 for/ 80 against. That makes for a good matchup. Looks like two good series for the NLDS. Should be typical October Baseball with all its usual drama. My Preferred Outcomes: MIL over ATL (obviously) SF over LA CHW over HOU TB over BOS
  12. Have a bad feeling that will end up proven true. Cardinals had best chance with the one-game matchup. Giants have next best chance with the short series.
  13. Dodgers’ home run power overcomes the Cardinals’ voodoo and devil magic.
  14. With the two late afternoon start times, how much will shadows/glare be a factor for Games 1 & 2? If so, for which innings?
