  1. About wanting the Dodgers knocked out before the NLCS….at this point, I don’t care if the Cardinals manage to do so with their voodoo magic. Don’t want to face the Dodgers at all.
  2. Ashby is exceptionally wild in this inning. Also seems to be throwing a lot of offspeed pitches. Plus two infield hits.
  3. That was a touchdown drive that sorta came out of nowhere. Back in the game.
  4. Aw, yeah! Pulled one out on the road.
  5. With no timeouts left, this is basically a must score TD drive. …which they don’t get.
  6. Can’t believe that roughing the QB call is a penalty in the NFL. Just a completely bastardized sham product of football.
  7. Going to need another TD drive. Can’t count on the defense to make a stop. (Might happen, but not the most likely result.)
  8. Needed that three-and-out badly. Reset the offense and get seven on this drive.
  9. Taking a 11-5 lead into Day 3 is huge for Team USA. The two morning foursomes have been where success has been seen, similar to past events. But the change is picking up points in the two afternoon four-ball matches, where past squads haven’t done as well. Only needing 3.5 points to win the cup, it will be interesting to see how Strickler lines up the singles matches. Go heavy early and try to win it quickly or put some weight into the later matches? Whistling Straits has really shown off the Great Lakes landscape. Very good looking on the screen. Excellent venue for major tournaments, particularly in late summer/early fall.
  10. Become “head coach in waiting” if Chryst is removed?
  11. The improbability of the Cardinals coming back to win the division puts that out of the mind, except for that back corner where "full panic mode" exists. That said.... I have to hope that the Cardinals are just playing out of their mind right now and couldn't keep that up for the post-season. Based on the season results so far, the Cardinals and Phillies both look like bad matchups for the Brewers. I'd want absolutely nothing to do with either of them in the playoffs. Just as the Cardinals are on fire right now, the Brewers are playing some bad baseball over the last ten days. Need to rebound in the next ten days to finish the season well.
  12. Feels like the rest of the National League Wild Card chasers would end up allowing the Cardinals to grab a playoff berth. Brewers will have some say in that with the seven upcoming head-to-head matchups.
  13. Back in the game with that inning. But still having the hardest hit balls turning into outs tonight.
  14. Wouldn’t be surprising to see. That said, despite the lousy offensive performance, the major concern that I see is the defense being completely manhandled and carved up today, particularly the line and linebackers. When is that going to be fixed? New DC, looks like worse results than last season. (Yes, it’s one game.)
  15. Outstanding performance by Burnes with a solid assist from Hader. Would’ve like to see Burnes make it a one pitcher no-hitter. But perhaps not pushing the staff ace beyond limits was wiser. Wonder if the same decision would’ve been made had it been going into the 9th inning with a perfect game still in play.
  16. Someone posted something similar from the D-backs game. They had an announced attendance of 6,354. Baltimore had two consecutive games under 5,000 announced attendance this week (4,965 and 4,891): Picture of empty Camden Yards: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E-zi-HmXsAIi8AN?format=jpg&name=large
  17. Really like that potential weapon for the playoffs. Been wondering a little bit whether Ashby profiles long-term as a starter or as a Haderesque reliever. Looks like he has the stuff that could play as a closer. (Maybe something for outside the game thread.)
  18. Good strong first inning from Ashby. Get him the lead before he goes back out for a second inning.
  19. Both Woodruff and Peralta having a hard time finishing off Phillies batters after getting two strikes on them.
  20. A little light on scoring runs through two long innings at bat. Multiple unproductive strikeouts with RISP and less than two-out.
  21. Good jump by Peralta to score on the grounder. Maybe he should give Vogelbach some sliding lessons.
