  1. Top of the order to start the 8th. Let’s bat around.
  2. Reyes will be down when Wong comes back. But could still use another infield bat who could fill in at 2B/3B. Could use another batter to replace our MVP Tough, but fair…unfortunately right now.
  3. Reyes will be down when Wong comes back. But could still use another infield bat who could fill in at 2B/3B.
  4. Won the first of the four versus Cincinnati before the All-Star Break. A series win or sweep going into the break would be a welcome change from recent seasons.
  5. Suter coming in to a game to start an inning is a Raptor. Starting with runners on base like in extra innings, and he’s an Iguanodon.
  6. Urias’ defensive play loomed large in the third inning. Got another zero for Houser.
  7. Houser is getting the big punch outs when he needs them. But a nice 1-2-3 inning or two would be good for his arm and pitching deeper into this game.
  8. Pitched out of it for a zero on the board. Could use the offense putting up some early runs in return.
  9. I understand the thinking: lefty-versus-lefty makes sense. The problem is Suter is not a hard throwing strikeout pitcher. Additionally, the automatic runner on second immediately takes away one of Suter's advantages: deception by working quickly out of the windup. Also Suter actually had a 7BB:29SO ratio versus righties compared to a 7BB:12SO ratio versus lefties so far in 2021. So a lefty makes sense, but does Suter? Love the guy, but even the armchair managers were getting this one right. Obtaining a late-inning left-handed reliever before the deadline seems like a priority for Stearns & Co.
  10. Christian Yelich - First Half 2018 (through All Star Game) / 2021 (through July 5) G 82 / 53 PA 357 / 215 H 93 / 41 2B 16 / 7 3B 2 / 1 HR 11 / 5 BB 33 / 45 K 83 / 61 BA .292 / .244 OBP .364 / .405 SLG .459 / .387 OPS .823 / .792 BAbip .363 / .350 There seems to be some similarity. Though it looks like Yelich was having a bit more success in 2018 getting hits and slugging, while in 2021 he is more successful in drawing walks and in his BB/K ratio. Edited to add BAbip stat.
  11. BrewCrewBall with a pretty good writeup on Devin Williams' performances so far in 2021: https://www.brewcrewball.com/2021/6/30/22556902/milwaukee-brewers-devin-williams-has-not-been-the-same-in-2021 Breaks down some of the trends that we're seeing in walks/control of pitches and the potential for lack of effectiveness in the setup role. Won't surprise many if the Brewers chase another setup bullpen arm at the trade deadline.
  12. Three-game sweep at home by the Reds. Seems worse than losing four in Philadelphia earlier this season.
  13. Piña has at least a chance to run into one and knock it out of the park. Or even a gap double. Even with the struggles this year, it’s a much better choice.
