  1. Two terrible at bats to end the inning and the big scoring threat. Guys need days off, but would’ve liked an at bat from Garcia in that type of situation or what Taylor was bringing before going on the IL.
  2. Totally understand the thought behind acquiring Norris, hoping that a LHP could find it and win a role as a reliever. Thankfully, the performance of Ashby so far in August/September looks like Norris could easily be omitted from the playoff roster. Will be interesting to see who the last two relievers will be for the playoffs.
  3. Suppose so. Just not getting a great vibe from seeing a 0-5 record against a potential playoff opponent, while watching very similar anemic offensive outputs against their starting pitchers across those games.
  4. Offense may need to win a bit of a slugfest today. Woodruff needs to be able to finish off batters a bit better. Seems like that’s been a bit of an issue after he gets ahead of batters to 1-2 or 0-2 counts.
  5. Burning all the replay equipment in New York and laying off all the workers running them would improve the product.
  6. Sometimes it’s really nice to have a true 1st Baseman in the defensive lineup. Tonight is one of those games.
  7. Brewers say “Lefty Schmefty” tonight and get to the Cardinals bullpen in the 2nd Inning. Exactly what was wanted to start a game.
  8. Maybe Mertz does develop into his pro QB style potential, so not calling to pull the plug right away. But perhaps looking at other types offensive schemes may be worth doing in the future. It’s worth noting that the program won several conference titles without a “real quarterback,” even if they weren’t 5-star recruits. Besides the one-year transfer by Wilson, the best modern-era quarterback was Bollinger, another mobile quarterback who could throw, allowing for another wrinkle to the offense: some option play and QB runs. That losing streak against Penn State will start to be a measuring stick against Chryst, though. Should be able to win at least one-third of those games; now Chryst is 0-3.
  9. Puked all over themselves in the red zone offense today.
  10. Missed FG = 1/2 turnover. Definitely take that.
  11. That’s the way to start Craigtember. Solid pitching—with the bullpen forced into the game early because of Anderson’s injury—and the offense tacks on runs late. Seems like the favored winning formula this season.
  12. Hader gets a save opportunity. Needed better at bats from Yelich and Garcia to give Hader another night off.
  13. Guess that the ball doesn’t ultimately lie after Adames’ gift Ball 4. Could’ve used those potential bonus insurance runs.
  14. Got two runs across, but felt there was a bit of a lost chance for an even bigger inning. But can’t complain too much.
  15. Need to show up tomorrow even if it isn’t a “must-win” game. Watching the last three games shows just how fast an NLDS could end. Wouldn’t feel great right now about facing Atlanta with a couple LHP starters in their rotation; some uncertainty exists with how well Escobar and Taylor come back after their IL stints.
  16. Good job by Suter to get out of that mess with only one run allowed. Need to tie the game up or take the lead in the next at bats before the big rain starts up.
  17. Urias at bat with a chance for a blown save. Put up the crooked number and give Hader the night off.
  18. High effort start by Woodruff, pitching out of some trouble early and late. Score a couple runs here and turn it over to the bullpen.
