  1. I think the fascination with Adames as mentor / team leader / cheerleader was overblown. He was the dugout, class clown whose Gatorade dump schtick seemed to entertain a lot of casual fans. Nonetheless, I could see how a bright eyed, minor jumping to the big stage could find a security blanket in a veteran Hispanic teammate with a big personality. The bigger / better point is having the centerfield responsibilities thrust upon him unexpectedly. Overall, he is doing fine. Like I said, I just wonder which version we should expect in the coming years. Will he be a classic slow / streaky starter who tears it up in the 2nd half annually? Or will he level out his peak production throught the season(s)?
  2. What do you think explains Chourio's drop off this year? The HR production is still respectable, but the average is... well.... average. Sophomore slump to some degree? Pitchers have enough video to learn his weaknesses? Did he set the bar so high last year, that it's unfair to compare year 1 numbers to year 2? I'm not down on him by any means, he's still only 21 years old. I just wonder if the Chourio of last year was the exception and this year's version is what we should come to expect, or vice versa.
  3. Agreed 2B is the only logical place for Seigler. Wasn't advocating for him to play anywhere else. I know Turang came up as a SS. My point was driven off of comments from the broadcast recently. They said that (paraphrasing) Turang and the coaching (Lane) had developed an advanced fielding practice routine for the that targets the specific nuances of playing second base. My interpretation was that it emphasized building on the skills necessary to field at an elite level for ground ball situations unique to the position. Building muscle memory, reflexive instinct, recognition etc. Like probably many posters here, I played SS, 3B and 2B in very low level ball, and I know it's fairly easy to transition between them. But to play to an elite level, is a different matter. Turang could easily move to SS, no doubt. But they've invested a decent amount of effort to make / keep him elite at 2B. Would the tradeoff of moving him to SS in order to bring up Seigler be worth it? That's something I don't think they are ready to decide just yet. They wouldn't just flip the switch, they would have to let the cat out of the bag by giving him practice reps as SS for awhile I would think.
  4. Not entirely unlikely. But it's kind of hard to move a guy not only off a position he excels at, but to do so in the middle of a season where all his prep has taken place at 2B. Yes, Turang has played plenty of SS, but it's been awhile. Throws and positioning, footwork etc all change and the muscle memory doesn't come back over night. Maybe at that point they would figure they have nothing to lose however by trying it.
  5. He has, unfortunately, disappeared.
  6. Your last sentence says it all. Hard to compete when 3 of your 4 big guns are all having down years., and the fourth has traded power for batting average.
  7. Yes, it’s available on the Roku channel. Thought I heard through June, but not certain.
  8. Beyond it being a successful formula at present, I like that it gets Hall some innings in a starter’s role. Really hoping that piece of the Burnes trade bears fruit for the rotation.
  9. It’s an antiques shop, so I assume it’s for sale. He did ask me if I was interested.
  10. So, the owner told me he got the sign from a guy who was relocating to Florida. The sign came from a Rattler's renovation project from years ago. The current owner supposed the guy he got it from was a contractor working on that renovation at the time and salvaged it. He told me it lights up too.
  11. Excellent article. Really enjoy getting decent updates on some of the brighter prospects. I catch a few innings of every level some weeks, but still don't always have a great feel for how they are doing overall.
  12. Yes, maybe. I never heard any specifics. It seemed unusual they would be shopping him. But I think the potential (at the time) of Bregman to Phil may have been involved. It was just too good of a fit to be true - they needed a closer with a chance to resign him, we needed a short term, affordable answer at 3B that can actually hit for average and some power. Was not meant to be. I don't know what else might be feasible in the way of a trade that A) doesn't block prospects, B) is small market affordable, and C) is an actual significant upgrade.
  13. The article does a commendable job of polishing the turd statistics. But c'mon - he doesn't cure what is ailing the Brewers woeful left side offense. Plus, he costs too much to gamble that the Brewers hitting coaches can get him right. They should have pounced on Bohm when he was dangled as being on the block. They "missed 100% of the times on the shot they didn't take - Wayne Gretzky" -Michael Scott, Regional Manager, Dunder Mifflin.
  14. Fans also tend to (naturally) overrate their team's prospects too. We're jacked about these guys, but are the front offices of other teams equally so? I doubt it. in '24, MKE gave up their 21st ranked prospect last year for Civale. They also gave up a marginal reliever and OF along with cash for Montas. Those guys are about the type of quality of depth that MKE might be willing to part with at present, and that's about what they would get back. If the recent improved offense sputters again taking them out of contention, perhaps they could/would move Perralta and Quintana. You might get a quality upgrade 3B for Perralta, but they wouldn't need one this year as that's why they're selling to begin with. And you don't need a long term upgrade if they believe in the Wilken, Pratt, Boeve in '26 or '27. And you're right. Nobody is going to give up a meaningful 3B upgrade for a minor league asset. Several assets perhaps, but at what cost?
  15. Yeah, that's going to happen given the odd circumstances that led them to having essentially two sets of starting rotations. A young, controllable guy is going to lose out to a vet that the GM traded assets for all things being largely equal, at least for now. Could change if Civale falters.
  16. Would have, but they were closed.
  17. Agreed. They have an effective, patchwork collection of largely no names. Perralta has performed to his ceiling, admirably so, in my opinion. But nobody is going to confuse him with the classic definition of an ace. Woody is probably going to disappoint a lot of casual fans with inflated expectations of him picking up where he left off without missing a beat. Nonetheless, they have a pool of young, intriguing arms getting critical experience at the top level who could become that high end talent. Patrick, Henderson, Myers, and then Misiorowski right around the corner... somebody is going to be the next Burnes and /or Woody hopefully.
  18. Puttering around in the north woods, my son noticed this Rattlers sign on the outside of an antiques store in tiny Trego, Really wonder what the story behind it is.
  19. He's definitely been getting better swings lately. It's funny how much better the .239 / 11 HRs he ended up with last year looks compared to the current .187 / 2.
  20. Should tell us if this team can hang with the big boys to some degree or not.
  21. First, they had no idea what his velocity would be at present. Secondly, they ate $2.5 million knowing that they would get NOTHING in return for one full season, and gambled an additional $7.5 million for 2025 HOPING he could give them most of a productive season. And they were prepared to spend another $20 million on a mutual option for 2026. A small market team with budgetary constraints doesn't usually take that risk. Appears to me like they hoped he could come back and be an ace rather than play second fiddle again. He just might by the time late July rolls around. If he does, it will be his swansong in MKE. Some fans think he will give them a hometown discount out of loyalty and gratitude for paying him so much to heal and rehab, giving him a chance to extend his MLB career. I don't. He'll jump ship if a big enough payday comes his way.
  22. Kind of a quirk of circumstances and timing that Woody probably is at best their #2 assuming he produces like he had prior to the injury. When they gambled on him coming back, I always figured they viewed him as their ace. Had he returned on schedule, he probably would be. Can't say I have a preference because there is too much to choose from and some unknowns. Like, does Cortez factor in somewhere? One thing I will say is, Quintana probably isn't here much longer IF he can get a couple more good outings in before the trade deadline. Also, the end of the year's rotation depends on if they are in the hunt for a WC or not.
  23. Agreed, not much out there for feasible upgrades at 3B. Ortiz has been putting a few better swings on lately, driving balls hard right at somebody. He was in the .260's average wise (if I remember right) prior to his neck injury last year. He has shown he has the tools to be a competent contact hitter by today's baseball standards. I think people forget this is only his 2nd year. He is more likely to improve back into that range of hit for contact than continue to stay mired in the .180 range. Durbin is not the long term answer at 3B obviously, but he is providing adequate defense and his rookie bat is showing signs of improving too. An upgrade trade would have to be significant, and I don't see that happening either. .
  24. Another small, no/low power hitting OF. Would prefer they developed some guys with better size that can put on weight and strength. Looking forward to seeing Braylon Payne progress. Not to say Lara can't find a role at the higher levels though. Dinges is intriguing. He's one of the guys I tune in the Timber Rattler games for along with Burke.
