  1. I heard this as well, and this is the first report I've heard where I've thought "Wow... there's a chance!" I've been listening to Dan Patrick daily for more than 2 years... and he's not one to start a rumor or controvercy. It's not like him to report something like this without having good sources. He was actually really critical of how ESPN has handled the whole Braun situation.
  2. In my opinion, The Office has gone down hill fast. My problem is that I don't like Robert or Gabe. I don't find either of even remotely funny, and I think Robert's character is making the other characters less funny. I always enjoyed a line or 2 from Creed every episode, but never talks any more. I still watch every episode hoping that it'll turn around, but it's been a while since I've laughed out loud.
  3. This Bucks team just baffles me. I understand they aren't good. But they have 10 or so players that are decent NBA players... should they really be getting blown out at home by the Nuggets? The Nuggets aren't a powerhouse by any means... With the lose tonight, there's a good chance they could be 5-15 or 6-14 by the end of January. Can we just tear down for 1 season and have a mini-rebuild? If I were the Bucks, I'd do anything possible to try to acquire 2 lottery picks in this draft. If they could trade Bogut for a pick in the lottery, that would be the ideal situation. I actually really like what Tobias has shown so far this year. For being 19, he looks smooth, confident, and makes some things look effortless. Pair him with Leuer, and you have potentially a pretty good PF combo. If you could be in position to draft a combination of Harrison Barnes, Austin Rivers (my 2 top choices), Perry Jones, or Terrence Jones, that would give you a nice nucleus to start with. A lineup of Jennings, Rivers, Barnes, Leuer/Harris, and some random center would be fun to watch. But I know the chances of something like that happening are pretty much none... it's the Bucks!
  4. Is anyone paying attention to the Giants/DBacks game? Upton got hit by a pitch in the 1st, and then was taken out before the second inning started. Did anyone see it? Where did he get hit?
  5. I have a DirecTv HD DVR that is starting to get full of things that I would like to keep. I have been searching the internet for the best way to record the programs on my DVR to a DVD, but unfortunately I'm not the most tech-savy person in the world. I've read about a video capture card to transfer it to a computer and then burn from there; or using a regular DVR recorder. Have other people attempted to do this? What do you recommend? It's my understanding that you aren't able to record HD, is that correct? Is the recorded quality good? Sorry for all of the questions, but with the Brewers being in the Playoffs I will want some extra space on my DVR. Thanks in advance for any advice/help.
  6. Yeah, I don't get this whole arguement either. How have we been relying on the Cardinals to lose? They have won 12 of their last 15, and the Magic Number is still 2 with 6 to play. We have 6 games to win 2. I'd put money on them winning more than 2 of those final 6. So, other than the fans enjoyment of the moment, who really cares if they clinch from a Brewers win or a Cardinals loss? They still won their way in. Are the Phillies in any better shape winning 4 of their last 14 and "winning their way in"?

  8. Does anyone know of a place the has 2011 All Star Game balls in the Madison/Milwaukee/Chicago area? I know I can get them on eBay or places online, but I'm looking for one last minute for early this coming week. Thanks!
  9. I love how every newly promoted player the Brewers face is a "Big Time Prospect" according to BA. I don't know anything about this Sappelt guy, but he's not in the Red's Top 10 prospects according to Baseball America.

  11. Man... the Cardinals tv announcers are sure boring. Wow.
  12. I think people are confused about the August 31 date. The actual Playoff roster is not set on August 31, but the players eligible for the playoff roster are set. To be eligible for the playoff roster, you must be on the active 25 man roster, the DL, or one of the other leave lists (bereavement, suspension, etc.) at midnight of Aug 31. Through September, the 25-man roster goes away and doesn't return until the end of the regular season when the 25-man Playoff rosters need to be submitted. If a player gets hurt in September/October, the team can add another member of the 40-man roster not on the original playoff eligible list if the hurt player is placed on the 60-day DL. So, it would be smart for the Brewers to leave Weeks and Gomez on the DL until September 1 at the earliest. That way, they will have 27 guys to choose from for the Playoff roster. I'm sure they already have an idea of who will be on the playoff roster, but it would just be nice to be able to have a few options in case someone unexpected gets extremely hot... or something like that.
  13. Is anyone watching the Cards/Dodgers game? Holliday had to leave the game because he had a moth in his ear. That's something I've never seen before!
  14. Yeah... I don't think the Brewers will keep 13 pitchers past Thursday. They are in position, although that could change quickly, to keep both Weeks and Gomez on the DL until they are 100%, and thus past Sept 1st. So having 13 pitchers until then would be possible, but it just seems like a bad strategy. Why not give the team another option for the playoff roster? It would be nice to have a bat with some pop on the bench... so I could see Gamel being called up and actually making the playoff roster.
  15. I never realized that Borat pitched for the Brewers. Niiice!
  16. I'd bet the Cubs are leery about trading with us... we did in fact steal Ruben Quevedo from them back in '01. That sour taste is probably still in their mouths...
  17. The "no break" really doesn't mean much. Depending on the location of the break, sometimes a break heals faster than a severe sprain.
  18. I really like Kouzmanoff. I haven't looked up any of his defensive statistice, but all the times I've seen him play he has looked more than solid at 3rd.
  19. Or McClendon. But would McClendon be able to pitch for them right away? I was under the impression that since he's on the 40 man, he wouldn't be able to pitch for them. Is that an incorrect understanding?
  20. Don't forget that Melvin said earlier that it wasn't one of the top prospects. So there is no way it's Gamel. If that quote from Sandy Alderson above is correct, it almost has to be Kintzler or Stetter. Parra could be added to that list, but the statement "he could have a role with us right away" kind of eliminates him.
  21. Yay! Time for our 8th inning guy vs Votto and Bruce. If you could see my face, you would see it is filled with lots of confidence!
  22. He is THIS YEAR. Over his career he has what looks to be typical platoon splits. Serious question... so it's typical for a pitcher to have an OPS against at .850?
  23. Roenicke just boggles my mind. In every pre-game scouting report he always gives stats about the opposing pitcher. Like tonight against Duke he said "Duke is really tough against lefties, so we're getting as many right handed bats in there as possible." Now I have no idea if that statement is accurate, but how come he doesn't use that logic for the Brewers pitching? Does he think Loe is in a career long funk?!
  24. A couple of my friends and I have decided we would like to go camping in a few weeks. We have picked out the Minocqua area as the place we would like to go. One place was recommended to us, but it was already full. Does anyone else have any campgrounds in that area they would recommend? A couple things we would be looking for in a campground would be: On a lake, hiking trails, and canoe rental. We will be tent camping, so a tent area would be preferred. Thanks a lot!
  25. This would be the perfect time to send McGehee down for a bit. Looking at the pitching probables between now and the All-Star break, we will only face 1 left handed pitcher (Zach Duke). It would give McGehee 8-9 non-pressure games to try to figure things out, and then a 3 day break to clear his mind. And then after the All-Star break, take things day by day depending on how Green is doing in Milwaukee and McGehee is doing in Nashville. It would be great to have McGehee figure things out and return to his form last year, but it would be nice if he could just figure it out enough to be a somewhat productive L/R platoon with Green.
