  1. 6 games back in the wild card, with Phillies playing the Mets. Time to gain some ground. I expect to be 3 or 4 games back by the time Sunday roles around after a 6-0 or 5-1 week
  2. I didn't say one word about Weeks, I was just warning someone not to talk bad about him of Fielder because you will never hear the end of it.
  3. Be careful, you can't criticize Weeks or Fielder on this board.
  4. Here is today's line-up Brady Clark Rickie Weeks Lyle Overbay Carlos Lee Russell Braynan Bill Hall Corey Hart Chad Moeller Chris Capuano
  5. I sure don't hope that the actual Brewer players think like us Brewer fans. Yeah it is too bad that Sheets is hurt and we are sorely going to miss him, but we can't just give up on the season. Lets use this as a rally point and stay tough and continue to win series. Today's game is very important. Lets make a statement. Next week looks like a good week for us and winning today puts us in a good position to get at least 8 wins on this homestand if not 9. Lets go Crew.
  6. Without Bud Selig, Milwuakee doesn't have a team.
  7. Oh well, I thought I was going to be the hero. Maybe Rickie can come through
  8. I have a funny feeling Prince is going to win this game tonight for the Crew
  9. I love it!!! Walk, SB, two ground balls, = 1 run
  10. Now, that my friends, is a productive out, finish it off Carlos
  11. Thanks Rluz for the explanation. I agree with your post before about how you look every day and root for them to make it. I can respect that you like to look at percentages as being realistic (because they are), hopefully this is one of those strange years where the statistics don't predict the outcome.
  12. Rluz, you always ingnore the part of my post about the NL West this year. How can you explain that? I am confused, just because the average is 87 doesn't mean 87 has to happen every year. I really don't care about averages. I'm sure there will be a year where you will have to win 93 games and likely a year when you will have to win 85. That would average to what, I don't have a calculator, 89?
  13. I appreciate the efforts of this post, but how can you determine how many wins it is going to take to win the wildcard. What makes your 87 prediction any better than someones 84 win prediction. At the beginning of the year, you would had thrown numbers out there to predict the NL West winner with 90 wins minimun to win the division. Isn't every year different??
  14. I think this has been a great discussion and bjames I thank you, you have done a great job illustrating some of the points I think are important. Brett and rluz I respect your stance and can see why you think the way you do. It has been fun to discuss but we won't change each other's minds about this topic. To me and bjames and others on here, it is obvious that heart matters. By the way, I never said Schilling was a good guy but what he did last post season single handily showed how much heart he has. Schilling didn't pitch for himself during the Series. He pitched for a nation of fans to get them that illusive championship and nothing was going to stop him. And that my friends is what I consider heart.
  15. You are missing the point. Obviosly talent will show up in the stat books and is a factor but without heart where does talent get you. For every Bonds and Sheffield in the hall there will be a Jeter and Schilling. I thought players played the game to win titles, not make the Hall.
  16. Do you want a guy on your team who only produces because it will make him more money. I don't. I want the guy who will put his team's goals ahead of his own and there are plenty of people with or near Sheffields talent who will do that.
  17. Brett, I knew you would, but I'll stick with the Jeters and take my chances. Did you watch the Olympics last summer. On paper why didn't the USA win by every game?????? The reason they steamrolled early is because players like Jordan, Magic, Bird, Barkley, Stockton, Malone all have heart
  18. Your right Brett, I was pretty sure he had one won title but no one brought it up so I couldn't remember for sure. You got me on that one. I would rather have a team of Jeters though than a team of Sheffields even though Sheffield has a higher OPS because all those Sheffields would cause so much chaos in the locker room that half of them would quit on the other ones
  19. rwa12, In my terms I would say heart means, taking pride in what you do no matter what profession you are in. Being disappointed when not meeting expectations, and always trying to do better while putting forth the effort and time required to meet my specific goals. Some people have it and others don't.
  20. Individual performance only matters when you are a stat head. I will take team performance any day over indivdual success. And I think it has been proven that they don't go hand in hand
  21. I think heart has a lot to do with why Sheffield and Bonds haven't one anything. They don't keep their teammates happy. Why would anyone go the extra mile for one of them when they wouldn't return the favor. You made my point when arguing why I wouldn't want Sheffield. He is not a winner, I don't care what is OPS is.
  22. Since when did I say heart was defined by emotion. Just because Olerud isn't flashy or might seem boring doesn't have any indication of his heart. Don't you think Olerud spent countless numbers of hours in the batting cages and on the practice field. That comment seems silly to me.
