  1. My child (20 months) has been going through a phase where 4:15 is a totally acceptable time for her to wake up for the day. This is not awesome.
  2. Yeah, no snow...it's all melting. Also, the reset has been pushed several times. Signal strength is at 80% or better for all transponders.
  3. I ordered DirecTV just over a week ago. It was fantastic for the first week. Then, in the middle of a show, I got the "searching for signal" message, but only on some channels. That list of channels has been growing by the day, and the channels that do work freeze until I change the channel then go back. Of course, they can't get a technician out here for nearly two weeks. I'm not too thrilled about this right now.
  4. Honestly, 1070 over here talks about UW, Brewers, and Packers...not local stuff to Madison, though they won't talk about Marquette (or the Bucks all that much). Rome is now on a new station over here as well. I'm not sure we need three sports-talk stations.
  5. The news just said Middleton has received 18.5" so far. Not too bad.
  6. More thunder snow!
  7. And by my eyes looking out my window. I'm actually in Middleton, so it will be interesting to see if we get any rain out of this at all. I'll admit, I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I shoveled. Yeah, it was wet and heavy, but I have shoveled a lot more snow than I did this morning. However, we have at least another 2 inches since I finished shoveling (around 7:45), and it is coming down very hard right now.
  8. The NWS put the rain/snow line over the top of Madison. It appears it will be this far west only for a couple of hours. They had reduced our projected amount overnight from 16 to 12 inches, but upped it again to 14. We'll see...
  9. Had some thunder and lightning around 12:45 last night, and 6-8 inches by 5 AM. Not too bad so far.
  10. Go to http://www.weather.gov From there, just click where you want to see the forecast. The snow predictions have been under the "Top News of the Day" on the Milwaukee NWS site, then just scroll down to the map.
  11. Yeah , I agree with Hawing...it's not as simple as staying home a bit longer. 6" means getting to drive to school in a snowstorm, 12" means snow day. I can't think of a time where school was canceled for 6" of snow.
  12. OWBC, out of curiosity, how well do local TV stations do compared to the NWS? I ask because the NWS has the track of the storm much more south, at this point anyways, whereas one Madison station has Madison only getting 6", and the other has us getting around 8" and the heavier stuff north and west. With three different forecasts, I'm not sure which ones to believe.
  13. I know it's a couple days late, but you may need to check this out... http://www.myaccount.charter.com/customers/support.aspx?supportarticleid=2623 It appears if you have Charter and have had it for a while, you are ok to have your own modem, but if you ever switch stuff around, you have to use one of theirs. You may have to call to verify.
  14. My mother treating me like I'm still a child even though I'm 32. I have a great uncle that is apparently turning 80 on Thursday, and she sent my sister and I an e-mail suggesting we send him a birthday card. I don't even send my grandparents birthday cards.
  15. I'm not upset that Bielema won't be the coach next year, I'm upset that we were used as a stepping stool for all intents and purposes. We have had two coaches in 23 years. UW is a place coaches go to retire, not to use as a resume builder.
  16. I love it when a word is showing TH_ and they buy the E. At that point, you know the last word, so why not buy another one.
  17. My next door neighbor is a very old, frail lady. We have been in our house three years, and I have only seen her...never met her. Twice this week, I have seen her use her car to get her mail. Her driveway is maybe 40 feet long. If you can't walk to get the mail, should you still be living in the house?
  18. Gas stations charging $1.00 for air.
  19. I love how some DVDs (and formerly VHSs) come with previews. There you are, watching a movie that is 10 years old, and you get to fast forward through movies that are long forgotten, but now you have that certain urge to see again. Brilliant, Hollywood. Simply brilliant.
  20. I'm probably going with a RAV4. I have an option...AWD vs. FWD. FWD is $1300 less. Is AWD really all that necessary? I have never owned a vehicle with it.
  21. That's the one that sold. I test drove it without my wife on Wednesday, and Saturday was the earliest we could get there. There are three 2011 Santa Fe's at one dealer...one for $20K, $19K, and $18K...which are all fantastic deals. I liked it a lot, but my wife may not be so enthusiastic about it because it is much bigger than the RAV4.
  22. One of the vehicles I wanted sold on Friday. I am now looking at a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. Does anyone have any opinions on them?
  23. I think they said that Rio is one timezone east of the Eastern timezone. I'm still expecting quite a few tape delayed broadcasts (like there was during the Vancouver games). I would like to know how many people either turned the channel or turned off the TV when NBC cut to their sitcom. I would have been willing to stay up to 10:30 to see the ending, but not to watch a TV show that I have no intention of watching when it airs in a few weeks.
  24. Yeah, I'm aware that Deal 1 is fantastic, and I'm trying to debate whether or not to continue to test drive. There is a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe that is going for under $19K that I want to drive just to compare. I'm probably going to e-mail dealer #2 to see if there is any way they can come close to matching. The car has been on the lot since Tuesday (as opposed to early June for the 1st car), so I'm thinking they are reluctant to go that low. But, if they want to keep me as a customer, they will have to.
  25. Car #2 really didn't have that many more options than car #1. The list is inaccurate. Looking at the Carfax, they put it for sale on Tuesday and I test drove it Wednesday. They probably haven't sat back and accurately priced it, which is why they tell you to call to get a price. When I asked what the base price was, he had to look at the window sticker. What I found very strange was that they had a similar one...same year, same mileage, but was the Limited model, which means it had more bells and whistles, and it was sticker priced the same.
