  1. So 62 out of the 72 counties in WI are under a tornado watch for today. Bring on the severe weather (as long as there isn't much damage and no one gets hurt)!!!
  2. I have been enjoying this quite a bit...
  3. Is it that specific tree? Or is it that type of tree that is "famous"?
  4. I've been a big fan of Bullseye lately. In my opinion, it's not too sweet at all, and it has a nice mild spice to it. I normally get the original, but it comes in many other styles as well.
  5. Sweet! If Tampa comes to Milwaukee, it will give me the opportunity to see the only team play that I have not seen.
  6. I have never understood why, when looking at sports tickers (like the one atop ESPN.com), some cities' abbreviations need to have 3 letters. There are quite a few cities where 2 letters will suffice. For example, San Francisco is SFO, but SF would be fine. KAN is Kansas City, but KC would work. Same with SD, SA (San Antonio), NO (New Orleans), NJ (New Jersey), just to name a few. I understand why LA, and NY need multiple for baseball, but NY for basketball would be just fine. I'm thinking about this way too much...
  7. 2 more... How far would the Badger basketball team have gone had Devin Harris not left school early? How far would the Badger football team have gone had Brian Calhoun not left school early?
  8. Jose Lopez hit it off of Wolf. We were in the 1st row of the Club Level on the 1st base side. I joked with my wife before we left for the game about what would happen if a foul ball came our way...and if it came to me, I would have to make sure I didn't drop it to the level below. It actually went straight for my wife. She ducked out of the way, I stepped in front of her, and it hit me in the wrist and fell right next to her. That think came in FAST. I still can't believe that happened. It was so cool.
  9. Caught my first foul ball at today's game. It broke my watch band, but I still got the ball. It's redemption from the time a ball was taken from me when I was tackled by 2 teenagers.
  10. I was awake way too much last night. It was relentless last night. We had numerous lightning strikes right next to our house last night, and just tons, and tons of rain. I'm not a big fan of storms that march like a train like that...especially in the middle of the night.
  11. How far would the Packers have gone in the playoffs if Jerry Rice's fumble would have been ruled a fumble in the 1999 playoffs (the game that TO caught the winning TD at the end of the game)?
  12. Wow, tornado warnings galore tonight! The NWS issued the tornado warning for Dane County right after the storm went through Middleton. But...the tornado sirens did not go off! So 2 weeks ago, they sound the sirens with no warning, but no sirens tonight with a warning. Edit: The sirens go off 10 minutes after the warning was issued. Wow.
  13. The Pac-10 just added Utah, which weakens the Mountain West. Not a bad move on either side's part.
  14. Those prices are still less than half of what you would pay at Whistling Straights, so in that regard, not a bad deal!
  15. A couple of thoughts... This is fantastic for Wisconsin. This state will be the focal point for golf in 2015 (PGA Championship), 2017 (US Open) and 2020 (Ryder Cup). This opens the door for future US Opens as well. Regarding hotels...this tournament is 7 years away. Plenty of time to build hotels or figure out the logistics for accommodations. DHonks...One thing to keep in mind is this course has been open for 4 years. It has gone through some growing pains. The USGA has been working with the owners of Erin Hills to make improvements. The course has been closed all year so far, and won't open until the end of July to make those improvements. The fact the USGA is involved with the changes means the course will be an excellent course in 7 years.
  16. I agree the biggest winner is the Big 10. Biggest loser...tie between the Pac-10 and Boise St. The Pac-10 doesn't get enough teams to get a championship game and doesn't land the big fish. If Boise would have waited, they may have been the 12 Pac-10 team. Instead, they join the Mountain West.
  17. Softball has been rained out 3 times so far this year, and with today's forecast, it very well may be a 4th time. This is getting old.
  18. I was at a game where A-Rod, Griffey, and Jay Buhner all hit 2 home runs. It was the day Greg Vaughn was traded.
  19. Oh, it will be grilled alright. The only problem is that it isn't a good cut of meat to make pulled pork out of. There is not enough fat, and would dry out too easily. The amount of fat in the shoulder makes the meat pull apart easier. After 3 stores, I found my pork shoulder, so hopefully I'm successful.
  20. I bought the wrong cut of meat to make pulled pork sandwiches. I bought a top loin instead of a shoulder. Now I have a 6 pound loin to find something do do with...
  21. Well, Boise St. just left the WAC for the Mountain West. That conference is all of a sudden looking halfway decent, too.
  22. If the "pod" system comes into play, it would leave no choice but to have a playoff then. There would be a 4-team playoff for 2 rounds, otherwise there would be no way to determine the conference champion. Then, do a national playoff. Take only conference champions (and include the smaller conferences), and have a 3-round national playoff. College presidents may not want a playoff in college football, but it's going to happen if there are super conferences of 16 teams. By the way, the people at Notre Dame must not be terribly intelligent. Part of their desire to remain independent is to play a national schedule and to keep it's NBC TV deal. However, the amount of money they would get from the Big Ten Network and from the BCS bid(s) the Big Ten gets would be way more than they currently receive from NBC. Yes, if they make a BCS game they don't have to share the revenue, but they make BCS games so rarely that it doesn't matter. They will be forced into a conference once everything shakes down, and may come out behind where they would have if they joined the Big Ten.
  23. Wow...what an amazing Game 6! Blackhawks score in OT to win the Cup. It seemed like such an odd game-winner, though...I didn't even know Kane scored until the Blackhawk bench was on the ice. It happened so quick. Great to see the Hawks win!
  24. I like Nebraska for the football, but that's it. I think it's terrible for the conference for basketball. I'm wondering what direction college football is heading, and am wondering how every other sport will be affected. If "super conferences" are created, will that be the case for basketball, too? If so, I am seeing a future where there is a college football playoff...maybe a playoff within each conference, even. It also opens the door for the NCAA basketball tournament to expand beyond the 68 team format that will be coming soon. If the Pac-10 (and Big Ten) end up going beyond 12 teams, I don't see how the conferences can stay at 8 or 9 conference games. The Pac-10 plays a 9-game conference schedule...they all play each other (at least in 2010 they will). If they go to a 16 team conference, you'd play your division, which is 7 games, and only play 2 teams from the other division. Teams could go 4 years without playing each other. I'd assume they would add a 10th game, maybe more...but that would shorten the non-conference season...or they'd expand the regular season to 13/14 games. There is a lot to think about. I really feel bad for the non-BCS schools right now. Boise St, TCU, Utah...will all be left in the cold. What will happen to Missouri, Iowa State, KU, K-State and Baylor? Those will be the five schools left out of any super conference, and I don't see how they could all join in with some of the other non-BCS schools. Mizzou, ISU, KU, K-State, Baylor, TCU, Boise, and Utah? I'm not seeing it right now...
  25. I survived the recovery of my gutter cleaning tool. Other than getting stuck, it worked really well. When I looked at the downspout, the opening is tiny...less than 1 inch across. No wonder why all of my gutters get clogged so easily.
