  1. Really enjoy Moose's talent and energy, but we need Grandal more at the catching position. Calling for both back is terribly improbable for financial reasons and for the fact that both will look for long deals elsewhere.. Getting just one is possible, not probable... if it's clear that we cannot get Grandal, then Moose is a possible.
  2. Great share.... so thankful that we all have something so shallow (men hitting and throwing a ball) yet meaningful to share with family members.
  3. Signing Yaz for 3 years (with Cain and Yelich) is big. $54 mil for 3? If Yaz is out of reach, signing Moose for 3 at $11 a year. Both cannot be done, imo. Getting Lyles or Pomeranz would be nice at a team friendly 2 year deal. Getting one of the pitchers is probable. Getting one of Moose or Grandal is not..
  4. Of course he had to stick with him once he was in. That's why he shouldn't have come in in the first place, especially with a right handed heavy bottom of the order coming up. Either leave a dealing Pomeranz in or go to Peralta/Guerra for at the very least the first couple of batter in the 8th and then see what to do from there . I'm not foaming at the mouth at CCs decision though. He's been right much more often than not this year--and it wasn't a completely boneheaded move. It's just one I wouldn't have made. My take is that Hader was facing his last hitter REGARDLESS of what happened... if he walked the young National, it's 3-2 and warmed up Lyles is coming in. If Grisham makes no error, it's 3-3 and Lyle's is in. If he retires him, he still has roughly 30 struggling pitches heading to the 9th and I still think CC takes him out. Lyle's and Houser maybe for the 9th?
  5. Still..... unbelievable September. Great ride, disappointing gut punch end. Better than the Cubs, Cubs no playoffs, and a fun group to cheer for.
  6. Can't have it both ways. Hader is here to stay like it or not. I'm aware and I don't like it, much like I didn't want him pitching the closer role in this game because he's wildly ineffective at doing so. I said I would have wanted him as my first guy out of the pen in this very thread. I was very confident in him doing this crap again. But call that a crap take if it makes you feel better about our savior trashing our season in consecutive appearances. Looks like you won't be making thousands selling Brewers postseason tickets..... that makes me feel a little better.
  7. And Yount hit one out in the first against Palmer too.... 2nd hitter.
  8. In 82 it was Palmer.... closest to this moment.
  9. Re-sign... Have to believe they would like one back, probably Grandal at catcher.
  10. Does Hader throw at all Sunday? If we have a small lead in the 9th AND the Cards are losing.... sure.
  11. I'd like the Brewers to sign one of them. Each has value beyond the stats.
  12. Just This year? Sorry for them?
  13. Great to hear.... With the weather as is, fairly mild and pleasant, I wonder if the roof closes on Tuesday( if played).
  14. Regardless, they must finally realize that they need to add pitching. Cole isn't feasible- but many of the second tier guys are. I get that we all have non-dry dreams about pitchers like Cole, but it simply won't happen for this market. Unless some one explains to Mark A about all those 100's of millions in profit he's hoarding... I'd retain Lyles, Pomeranz, Gio, Moustakas and Grandal, the roster for next season: Starters: (RHP) Woodruff (RHP) Lyles (RHP) Davies (RHP) Nelson (LHP) Gio Bullpen: (LHP) Hader (LHP) Suter (LHP) Pomeranz (LHP) Claudio (RHP) Houser (RHP) Guerra (RHP) Peralta (RHP) Burnes or Knebel Starting Lineup: (RF) Grisham © Grandal (LF) Yelich (2B) Hiura (1B) Braun (3B) Moustakas (CF) Cain (SS) Arcia Bench: Pina, Gamel, Shaw, Spangenberg Retain? Interesting verb when competing with 29 other teams.... Count us fortunate to get 2 of those 5... more likely 1.
  15. Pipe dream getting Cole... kinda irresponsible paying the money needed to overpay to get him.
  16. Well, he's pitched four of the last five, including 2 straight. He should be out tomorrow and maybe Tuesday too. He threw 26 pitches on Sunday. Craig said the team is going to ride him over the next (now 2) weeks. What does everyone view as the optimal rest? I'm in the boat of puting him in two games in a row, probably not 3. Multiple innings saves are possible if he has multiple days rest prior. We need him rested, but we just need him period. It's a difficult line to walk as rest is hardly a thing we can afford to give him when we need to win these series coming up.
  17. 3 and a half hours, countless breaks in the "action", and an addicted generation on technology.....
  18. Way outta line.... Wasn't baseball lacking this new down the line netting for 100 plus years before having it increased recently? It was just assumed that there was risk associated with attending a hard ball and bat game, and it was up to fans to plan accordingly where to sit. I actually like having more netting, but it is a fair debate. You are making those who disagree with you out to be villains and jerks. Also, I suggest that you look for other areas in your life where injury risk is a factor and grump and moan about those too.... just to be consistent.
  19. Front row or two with net in your face is bad. Back up a few rows and it isn't. I wonder if some have actually asked to move back.
  20. Well, that's ok and all.... just following trends around the game. Yet, if you really want to address this issue for MILLER PARK even more fairly and accurately, more danger to foul balls is found in the second deck behind the plate. I have been saying it for years. Take the tour and you will see several holes in walls in the press room and dents in the back wall of the 2nd deck. Some real heaters come back nightly. The area is closer to the plate than down the lines and the reaction time is shorter because of it. Raise the netting behind the plate. The must is raising the bar in the Loge Bleachers first row (or make it clear plastic or glass). A tall man could easily reach over for a toss up or hit ball and be nudged over the edge. Crazy dangerous when you consider the distance above the playing surface... almost certain death if you fall. Puting up a net below it or even taking out the first row bench seems logical.
