  1. There you go. Put those two things together. You can only put so many exciting, gritty at-bats with good patience together that fans generally fawn over when you cannot hit the ball anywhere near the wall or over it routinely. Major league pitchers, shifts, and defenders will eat you up. Take a look at what Ivan DeJesus did in Colorado Springs and what he did as an MLB player. There is a reason that nobody has touched Orf and Wren in the Rule 5 draft. Their gaudy .310/.400/.400 lines in Colorado Springs will turn into .230/.280/.330 in the majors. Wren at least has borderline elite speed so maybe he'd have a shot. Ivan DeJesus MLB Career - .242 Avg, .630 OPS 2017: Colorado Springs - .345 Avg, .894 OPS 2018: Pawtucket - .277 Avg, .729 OPS Lewis Brinson 2017 Colorado Springs - .331 Avg, .962 OPS 2018 Miami Marlins - .177 Avg, .554 OPS So on, so forth. Many more examples with Colorado Springs or Coors Field. So why have a Wren or Orf at AAA? You can't have it both ways, my friend. Either they are fraud trash like you say and shouldn't be at AAA (give a more deserving player a shot that will actually produce in the majors), or they deserve a shot in our MLB awful infield.
  2. This lineup.... A possibly better one with no one on the DL... Cain CF Orf 2B Shaw 1B Santana RF Phillips LF Kratz C Sogard 3B Arcia SS
  3. Sounds like a very short-sighted plan.... if we are in the Playoffs, this sounds like a good plan. Skip Game 1 and 2 and shoot for playing him in Game 3. There is no net if Shaw is out for the majority of the season. Playing with fire here.
  4. You're giving Arcia, of all people, credit for hard hit balls? His LD% at 17%, and he's consistently hitting 0-2. Funny thing is (and I agree with those who say to get rid of the whole lot for better players), we have very good hitting 2B at AA and AAA (Hiura and Orf) that just might be better than most mentioned. Orf is not an MLB baseball player. I'm convinced of this. We have a front office that consistently has our team exceeding projections every year and apparently have zero intent on ever calling up Orf and there is probably a very good reason for this. Ha! How are you so sure? Seen him play? Or just blindly going with DS on this one? Then, please oh please, explain why Orf is at AAA? Why are we playing this poor sap at our highest minor league affiliate? If I'm Orf, I would have gone to Stearns on an off day when I was hitting .380 (slumped to .300 or so now) plumped by butt in his office chair, and have him explain why in the world he was playing me at AAA? Ask him why even have me on the team if there is no hope for me, regardless of what I do, at AAA. If every cotton pickin guy from Saladino, Franklin, Sogard, and now Miller was considered above me, why even play me at AAA. Cut me or play me at A ball. It's a sick joke to have our weakest positions not being filled by our AAA hot hitting infielder. If stats do matter (and many of you continue to beat the stats drum for Sogard's departure), others should be calling for guys like Orf and Wren to get shots to play off our bench. If his play does not matter for some biased and unfair reason, get rid of the poor sap. Don't lead the guy on. This Brewers topic upsets me more than any other, and this includes my rants on the extended long rope of love for the ever talented Villar.
  5. Put Shaw on the DL. I can't see how giving him just a few days rest is going to do any good. Didn't we JUST do this? It resulted in Shaw leaving a game after a swing, of all things. Just give him the two weeks to get fully over it (hopefully), and then don't play him everyday when he gets back. He'll have the All Star break to rest, as well. We need him desperately 2nd half. No good option is there with him out. Play Aguilar at 3rd half the time and be willing to adjust his position late in games. Thames can play some 1B and OF. Call up Santana for Shaw. We are playing some poorer pitching staffs until the break, along with no off days and a double header. Santana should be able to get steady at bats with Braun and Cain iffy with health, as well. Finally, I want Hiura to be on stand by. If we cannot get quality play from our outcast and misfit middle IFs, whomever they be, we go to Hiura after the break. I don't want us playing the what if game for a second consecutive offseason of barely missing the postseason. Get our bats up here and play or go get a quality option.
  7. If we called up Braun earlier in 2007, we make the playoffs. His stats those 4 and a half months were nuts. If this is the next Braun like bat, call him up.
  8. I don't see Hiura as a guy the Brewers will move. He's arguably the best system bat since Ryan Braun came along and you just don't let those guys go. If we can get de Grom or Syndegaard for a Hiura centered package, it's on the table.
  9. So throw those 2017 numbers out? Forget them. Me? I can't do that. When anyone gets on base about 40% of the time in a full Major League Baseball, I sit up and take notice. When one has more walks than K's in it, I am even more impressed. That is what Sogard did last season, and that is why he still is on this roster, IMO. No one in our middle IF group of outcasts has anything close to those kind of numbers for a season. The fact that they happened just last year makes me want to give Sogard more opportunities, kinda like CC giving 5 months to Villar in 2017.
  10. Also, get Aguilar at 3B to start about half of these 21 games. You can always shuffle him to 1B or the bench later in the game.
  11. I like the idea of bringing Santana back up immediately. Shaw goes to the DL. Even if not warranted, give Shaw the extra time to heal more completely. We also need an extra OF now that Braun and Cain are banged up a bit. That should give him fairly regular ABs in the next 21 game in 20 days. The pitching in those games is from bottom level teams, as well. It might be a time to get him right.
  12. How is his guy THaT much better than what we have? Glad he's coming back, I guess, but isn't he a combo of players we have? By your posts, you act like there is a large gulf in difference between Sogard and Saladino, rather than a small stream. Sogard? Get rid of him. Saladino? So glad he is coming back on the team. I believe he’s a better defender than Sogard. And I think the gap lies in Saladino having more than double the OPS of Sogard. So yes hallelujah Saladino is close cause hopefully that means Sogard will be gone. 37 ABs this season for Brewers.... Career OPS is .627 to Sogard's .625
  13. Saladino hit .178 with a .254 OBP in 2017 for the White Sox. Wanna guess how many HRs he hit? As many as me. Yet he did it in 281 PA... Play the guy, sure. I hope he turns into an above avg SS or 2B. I hope his d proves to be good. Better than what they have now? Eh... we'll see, but probably not.
  14. Saladino hits well in 37 ABs and he is automatically better than Sogard? Yet, If I bring Sogard's stellar PH stats this season, it's too small a sample size? Bring up all of Sogard 2017, and it's not current enough or a fluke (or Villar 2016 is brought up). Start/play Saladino until he cools down, sure. Just puzzling why the wide gulf is between these two backup infielders in some people's minds. Overall, Franklin, Villar, Sogard, Saladino, and Perez are about the same player. I prefer my backup IF to be fairly solid defensively, contact hitters, and smart on the bases. I have more confidence, even now, with Sogard coming in to get an at bat with men on base and two outs than the others. He seems to be the one who can handle higher velocity, as well, and that is what you get in the 8th and 9th. His LD % is above league avg, even now. Should Sogard be getting tons of at bats with any MLB team now the way he is hitting? No. Starting daily? No. I know he has to be better. Yet, compared to these other options on our beloved team, I still prefer Sogard in many ways.
  15. We are not even talking about half a season! How many Brewer ABs does Saladino have? A whopping 37! Yet this guy who the wonderful White Sox let go gets unreasonable praise nods and a guy who played quite a bit for us last season with 299 plate appearances, an elite 397 OBP, and more impressively, more BBs than Ks, is trash? Incomparable? Please.
  16. I guess I'm looking at MVP A little differently than most. If it's the MOP ( Most Outstanding Player), I give it to Cain, probably. Because of our OF depth, along with Yelich capable of playing an above average CF, That hurts CAin's overall team value. The leadoff bat and high on base is huge; though.
  17. Aguilar has won games with his bat and glove.... his d has been solid, and many wins were dependent on him having key hits or scoops/splits at 1?.
  18. Yuni hit well for us in late 2011..... for all his faults, he had this. Also, it really isn't his fault that no better option was at SS.
  19. Aguilar Chacin Hader Yelich Cain Jeffress Guerra Shaw
  20. Well, that is somewhat true lately... Sogard had a pretty lousy game there last week, skipping a couple. Aguilar made a couple nice plays.
  21. Making a big deadline trade usually involves well thought of prospects with tools that not only have performed well in the past, but also the present. Harrison, Diaz, and Brinson had above avg years last season, and that made them even more attractive. So, the guys that either haven't played this year or are hitting low avg/ low ops are out now for me. Here's my top 3.. 1. Hiura 2. Brown 3. Medeiros More than anything, we should be dealing some MLB players or 2018 Rule 5 eligible players just to open up a few spots on the 40 man.
  22. Thank god How is his guy THaT much better than what we have? Glad he's coming back, I guess, but isn't he a combo of players we have? By your posts, you act like there is a large gulf in difference between Sogard and Saladino, rather than a small stream. Sogard? Get rid of him. Saladino? So glad he is coming back on the team.
  23. It has everything to do with baseball.... nothing to do with race. Sorry for not agreeing with you on our best 2nd base option, but you keep the race card in your hand. Also, I'm not saying Sogard should be starting/playing a bunch the way he has been hitting. I understood why he was demoted, and I'm hoping that someone can start hitting in the 2B and SS positions.
  24. It has everything to do with baseball.... nothing to do with race. Sorry for not agreeing with you on our best 2nd base option, but you keep the race card in your hand.
  25. Santana up.... Shaw to DL ? Aguilar plays some 3B next week?
