  1. Right now, Woody is pitching Monday and probably Game 2 of NLWC on Sat. Burnes would be slated for last day of season. If the team has it wrapped up by then (fairly unlikely), he can go Game 1 of NLWC on Friday. The big question is if it is wise to set Burnes on Wednesday, knowing then that he likely would not throw ANY starts against St. Louis, accurately assuming he is not pitching on three days rest since he was healthy and said no mas last year in the NLDS. The other big question is if Peralta is starting Sunday or Tuesday. If not, will he pitch out of the pen throughout the last few games? Would he then start Game 1 in the NLWC on Friday?
  2. What the Brewers are doing (4 or five straight playoffs, 2 division championships) with less payroll is an outlier in baseball. It’s rare and should be celebrated, even without a WS appearance. That being said, I don’t think we can continue this much longer. I would be fine with the team saying our window is through 2024 and add on, knowing 2025 and 2026 are going to be a full blown rebuild. Having two aces AND pretty good secondary pitching pieces makes it tough to take steps back the next two years, just trade for prospects, and hope we can get back to what we are now with pitching.
  3. Mike and the Mechanics...
  4. Shocked if Woodruff signs a long term deal... We can't be paying Yelich and Woodruff long term big money. I just can't see it happening.... spending about 40 to 45% of payroll on two guys, both which have likely peaked and on the downside of their careers. Also, Teddy Higuera.
  5. I think we are kidding ourselves if we are expecting the Brewers to add payroll with down revenue. So really, that means no Burnes or Woodruff extension, of course. Ashby and Peralta were signed long term, partly to cover our losses of those two. Also, to the other way, it likely means trading away about half of the what, a dozen, arby eligible players this offseason or next. So, yeah, I see our finances as pretty bleak right now. What is huge is the report that will be released in the next few months that will discuss the needs of the franchise when it comes to total cost of repairs and upkeep to AmFam Field. The team has to be looking to do what the Bucks and Packers have done inside (Lambeau- constant upgrades; Bucks- new stadium) and right outside of their stadiums (Packers- TitleTown; Bucks- Deer District) adding revenue streams; otherwise, we are in a world of hurt financially in the near future. Expecting MA to pay for the rising salaries, repairs, upkeep, and new areas outside the ballpark with only his big bucks is not how this guy became rich or stays that way. Cooperation with the city and county(s) is almost a must.
  6. Allen and key starters need to sit now. Outcome of Game is over. Only bad injuries can happen in 4th quarter.
  7. Don’t need him apparently down the stretch….. DOESNT matter what he does or how well he hits.
  8. We kept Suter over Lamet. And Lamet would have been a trade chip for 2023 too. But the faith in Suter… wow. We also kept Jake McGee over Lamet, only to DFA him for nothing a few days later. Worst deadline in Brewers history…
  9. Hiura out in a needed HR situation…par
  10. Could have used Lamet tonight- 2.81…16 IP… 23 Ks… 6 BB with Rockies. And they get him next year.
  11. It is a shame, indeed. Maybe I missed it…
  12. You are confusing what is being said. I believe it is a slam dunk, easy decision, to play Hiura DH against righties. Cutch should sit. I am not calling on Hiura to be the Brewers rep. at the All Star Game….. He’s the team’s best option.. easy… for this year against righties at DH. He also is getting such limited at bats and spot starts; that would be tough and difficult on anybody. Yet he STILL has a better OPS than our best hitter(?)…the guy that cannot be taken out of the 2 spot! His righty OPS numbers are comparable to MVP candidates. AND our team desperately needs another threat against righties. Are we hoping that Cutch will come around the last part of September? It would be great to see what his numbers would be with twice the at bats, with all or most against righties. Hiura was just playing against lefties for a while and Cutch continues, mind you, to still face righties. Nobody is bragging Cutch’s #s up much when putting Hiura down, by the way. Also, I tire of the reasoning that since CC decided it, it must be the right decision. He makes mistakes too, and it is ok to question this. He should have a good excuse for not playing a better hitting option at DH in a select situation, but he doesn’t. At least not a sane one. Cutch is better, he thinks, for 2022 than Hiura at DH against righties. This decision is keeping us on the outside of the playoffs right now, much like not giving Aguilar many more at bats in 2017.
  13. Offensively, Adames has well over twice as many at bats as Hiura. Adames plays SS…plays a key defensive position well. Granted, He should play there a lot. However, to hit him second daily, feature him as the best hitter on the team, and dare not take him out of the lineup for a day is too much. He is still not hitting a better OPS than Hiura, who is in the doghouse for whatever reason. CC said it wasn’t the Ks, by the way, back in August. My reasoning for INCLUDING Adames in all this? If one is so high on hitting Adames second, they should be that high or really much higher on merely having Hiura in the lower part of the lineup, hitting DH ( I tire of those bringing defense into an argument against Hiura… there is a DH now and McCutchen isn’t good), batting regularly against right handed starting pitching… which means he should start about 65% of the time. If one is low on Hiura and his bat, then one should be low on having Adames too, especially hitting daily in the #2 spot.
  14. The August 1 downfall is quite visual here.
  15. Not as bad as the fall in 2014…. Well, almost. More like 2017. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds-graphs
  16. Let’s play a fun game…. Let’s look at how much more 944 is than 680 4 minus 0 is 4. Can’t go 4 minus 8. Let’s borrow from 9. 14 minus 8 is 6. 8 minus 6 is 2….. so 264 more. You are trying to do what exactly? The bar Hiura needs to beat to play DH regularly against righties is low. Even if you chop off 150 points from his OPS, he’s still better.
  17. Then add payroll and go for it in 2023 and 2024? You could sell that and I would buy. I doubt MA is thinking add payroll with attendance down.
  18. I agree. It is something. Significant and badly needed on this hacking team.
  19. See what is out there. If someone gives up the farm for Burnes, you have to listen, right? If the price isn’t high, keep him.
  20. Ridiculous to think we can keep him at this price….
  21. Yet who has a better OPS overall? Not Adames. One plays every day. The other has a version of the baseball plague. Scraps and spot starts. Hiura should play DH ……EVERY GAME….against every righty. There is no argument with the numbers. Never seen anything like it,
  22. As long as your not the only one,.., glad to know. Don’t go on that ledge by yourself. .944 is bad then against righties? Guy should literally not play against them so McCutchen can get his hacks then. And it has nothing to do with defense. You have nothing.
