  1. One of my friends has a friend who used to be in media relations for Brewers. Anyways, around 2:00 yesterday, I get a text from friend that says his buddy is super hyped because the Brewers are working on this BIG trade. He even had names of guys they were looking to add- Rodon, Brandon Belt, and Joc Pederson, It fell apart late because “prices were outrageous”. Ended with Rosenthal instead. No idea if any of this is true. This is the trade rumor section. Anyone else hear this?
  2. Lamet.. Either oversight of the 5th year option OR the Bush trade was considered better value.
  3. Better to just take on salary of a guy and cut him? What are they going to do when Cousins, Gustave, and Houser return? Rose tall? More mysterious injuries, I presume.
  4. Bush must have been the kicker. He took Lamet’s spot. Yet, ugh, Suter and McGee are viewed as better? But seriously, Suter’s days are numbered with relievers coming off the DL. Or his arm might be becoming a bit sore and a DL stint will be badly needed.
  5. Well, I meant optioned based on the info at sportrac. It said he had options. But yeah, Suter could have been let go too. This guy should be better, right? Kind of sad that we are taking on salary for, of all teams, SD who added more payroll than about anyone! Everyone’s grade of this trade better get adjusted down a bit if this guy isn’t even playing with us. We’d rather have Suter instead of this guy. Trade goes from C- to D for me…. And it makes us look like idiots. for forcing us to take on salary for giving up one of the best relief pitchers in the history of the game.
  6. Hiura needs to play DH about everyday in August. Tell him that ahead of time so that the man can get comfortable and will not be yanked for three or four games ( OR SENT DOWN AGAIN INEXCUSABLY). Give him at bats and Bat him 8th. Also, he is not a great pinch hit candidate and he cannot play a position well. Make him the DH. Give him time. Put less pressure on him by batting him late. If he cannot produce this month with this treatment, send him down forever or just cut him. Also, if he can put up his same numbers (.805 OPS, .350 OBP) and strike out the same rate, I’ll take it gladly. He’ll be a top 5 hitter on this team.
  7. Lamet is costing them what, 1.7 mil REGARDLESS if he plays here or not! Cutting him did what for us? We are on the hook for this money. Why in the world do we not play him? We could have put Suter down. He has options. Like someone else said on a different post, we have like 10 bullpen guys for 5 “open” spots. Fake injuries could be called on again.
  8. interesting stuff for Nashville Frelick went 3-5 hitting leadoff playing LF; Hiura hit another HR, walking twice and not striking out. Ruiz didn’t play. i am interested in seeing what our offensive upgrade will be soon. It’s got to be Hiura at DH and a guy like Frelick or Ruiz in the OF. We need some lightning in a bottle from somewhere. Guys that can get on base and run a bit too.
  9. C- Trading the best reliever in baseball and maybe baseball history (regular season) during a playoff push? And we have him the next season? I really cannot get past this. I’m not sure how anyone gets excited about this. Plus, two of the four traded back likely are not here next year. Payroll in 2023 and 2024 is a big reason why this happened. Ten plus arby guys on the roster and another 40-50 million just next year for guys on the roster. There was no room for a 16 million closer. Still, a trade could of been made in December albeit for less. I am excited for 60 SB Ruiz, even for this year! He could be Carlos Gomez ala 2008. Tie game in 8th, we are putting in a pinch running sensation. We need a tool like this! I have always said each MLB team should have an Olympic type runner who cannot even hit on the roster come September and playoffs. A SB is key late in games, especially for a limited offense like us. A DH makes it even easier to pinch run during August. Gasser sounds solid too. We need constant young pitchers coming through the system. Constant cheap, young starters are needed to keep cost down. Solid pick up, it looks like. The Bush trade is a bit crazy. Old, cheap, gas throwing guy. Controlled for multiple seasons after this one. Solid middle relief this year. However, his alcoholic past and his placement in a beer cultured city is questionable. He had people accountable for him in Texas; he had limits on his personal freedoms put in by his team stemming from his DUI and accident. Risk management says is this worth it. How they did not add a single bat is something no one saw coming. I mean, was it THaT much of a cost to pick up a 1B/CF who could hit a bit for two months? meh and WHAT! fit my reactions.
  10. I think Brewers need to be done with any deal longer than 4 or 5 years, unless it’s a Peralta/Ashby type. Yelich’s deal, which was so celebrated, would be given back immediately, just two years after it happened. And he really isn’t hurt, which is also a future concern.
  11. I keep coming back to how much value Hader lost when he decided that he -was not playing Counsell matchup anymore, not being delegated to pitch whenever and to whomever, especially to the middle of the order. -was not going multilple innings anymore -was only pitching as a a traditional closer I also guess there was much more behind the scenes, from contract disagreements and extension disagreements that pushed the team to this point. I also wonder how much Stearns believes in Hader. The struggles of late. The season endings of both the Nationals (19) and Braves (21) had to play a factor, as well. There are lingering memories there too that naturally lead one to say, if we lose, let’s lose a different way.
  12. In Texas, he could not drink alcohol. He had limits and restrictions on where he lived and what he could do daily by team rules. I wonder if it is similar here. Crazy but he is now in the beer city wearing a Brewers shirt after crippling a man for a DUI. I am all for forgiveness and he paid his time, but yeah, it is cringe worthy.
  13. I would be opposed to do this unless we are getting back two top #25 guys. I didn’t think we’d trade Hader now either, but who knows now.
  14. Out of the box would be trading Woodruff to get a monster return in a Deadline with a desert amount of top of rotation arms out there. Peralta replaces him in the rotation, and the team gets back a couple top 100 prospects and change. Cost conscious saves $ for arby cases next year.
  15. Another couple of things under the radar… Rogers doesn’t give up many HRs .2 HR/9 …and 1.1 WHIP
  16. Gotta believe Williams is the closer, Rogers gets 8th?
  17. Trading for a lead off cf Reynolds’s is my guess. Brewers are getting ready to pay for 2023, as well. Lower attendance has to be a part too.
  18. Well, I think this is a long shot not because of who they have at Bell’s positions already. I think it is a long shot because other teams are said to be involved. Bigger markets too. Also, the asking price is going to be steepish for this rental, I imagine. Best hitter on the market maybe.
  19. K rate is so yesterday. Everybody needs to get hip with the wRC+. And Hiura hit an oppo 3run go ahead bomb tonight in Nashville.
  20. Or produces a double play. I hear you, though. Good points. Hiura hit .381 in July, OBP 480. Slugging 714. Struck out at 31% rate. Has like a 7 game on base streak going…it doesn’t scream send him down.
