Cleveland already has Yonder Alonso AND Edwin Encarnacion UNDER CONTRACT for 2019 and holds club contract options on both players for 2020. On top of that they have another 1B prospect (in their system) almost ready for the majors & other options. IF Cleveland traded EE or Alonso for other pieces of need, it would be to open space for Yandy Diaz or the prospect (Bobby Bradley).. Yonder Alonso is terrible and Aguilar would be a huge upgrade over him. EE is having a down season and is at the age where he stats will likely be going down. Bobby Bradley has a .753 OPS in AAA. While I understand the idea that Cleveland would not be motivated to trade for Aguilar, their internal options are not nearly as great as you are making them out to be. I'm glad the Brewers didn't operate this way with the outfield this past offseason. It would have been easy to say we have Keon Broxton and Brett Phillips!
