  1. Rodgers clearly isn't the dominating force that he used to be. He is still a very good quarterback but he misses throws now that he never used to. You can also see that he often times is not on the same page with the rookie wide receivers. The Packers have about 6 good players on the team that should be kept. (Rodgers, Adams, Bahk, Jones, Alexander, Clark) I am sure there are arguments for Martinez, Linsley and Daniels but there aren't difference makers to me.The rest are interchangeable/could use an upgrade. They have a lot of money tied up in overpaid players so it should be time to cut bait with them in the off season. They really need to nail this next draft to bring in more talent.
  2. How much trade value does he have? I see it vary greatly from him being the centerpiece for a really good player to being a second piece.
  3. Obviously there are always tons of variables with personal finance, that is nothing new. However, in a country with so much debt and overspending, simple percentages are a good place to start for most people.
  4. Anything from 10-15% on savings is recommended after you have an emergency fund setup. I generally recommend at least 6 months to my students but realistically it depends on what type of job/household you have.
  5. Read it again, $60 in terms of monthly expenditures is insignificant which is 100% true. Everyone spends so much on entertainment and I choose to spend on cable. This is no different than someone choosing to go to concerts, sporting events, etc. It is all in the entertainment category. This wasn't about me trying to justify cable, this was about areas where money can be more easily saved. Other areas that I have already mentioned offer a lot more opportunity in terms of savings but usually do not get talked about. People like to focus on cable and things like rewards cards for some reason like it makes a big difference. Thinking that someone can make a big dent on savings from those things just shows a pure lack of financial sense. Look at how much you pay for your mortgage, interest, insurance, and transportation if you want to actually make a difference in having more money in your pocket. Also, I did not start this thread either like you mentioned.
  6. That's a very fair and, in my opinion, equal deal. Let's do it just to have some excitement! That is what I am seeing with some of these trade proposals lately. I am trying to say it in a nice way.
  7. When and where did adding burger to things become a thing? Example: nothing burger.
  8. Let's trade 4 quarters for $1
  9. I would be shocked if he isn't on the Astros by spring training. They have a strong system and an obvious need.
  10. $60 a month for Cable isn't significant in terms of monthly expenditures. You could easily find way more savings than that in food waste, mortgage expenses, etc. I don't have an acquaintance that thinks spending $500 on a meal is a good value either. Not everyone is going to agree where they should spend money but there are areas that saving can add up much faster.
  11. It’s very tempting, but it’s gotta be Peralta/Nottingham+ IMO. Otherwise the gain there isn’t worth it. With the dodgers, Astros, Red Sox, and others in, the price will likely get too high If you were the Marlins would you really take Peralta and Nottingham as the headliners in a trade for one of the best catchers in the game? I would not.
  12. I'll compare Spectrum because AT&T internet is awful. Sure it is $45 for the first 12 months, then it is $65 afterwards. I bundle Cable and Internet for a little over $100. When my promo time is up, I just call and threaten to cancel. It isn't as easy to get the bundle promo price as it used to be but you can still get it. Now add the streaming services like Netflix/Hulu (which aren't that great btw) and you are almost at the same money. If you don't like cable programming, that is fine. The savings just aren't that significant at all.
  13. Living close to work is like the #1 mantra of that movement. But cable isn't expensive? It's a lot more than $8 for Netflix. The cost of cable for a year is a vacation for most people. You still have internet right? The cost of bundling cable and internet versus internet plus streaming isn't that significant; definitely not enough for a vacation.
  14. People often look at things like cable which don't save a lot of money. Things like food waste, living close to where you work, buying things you don't use and having a modest mortgage are much big money savers.
  15. I would have liked Donaldson but that price tag is a little steep. I am hopeful for a couple of nice offensive additions this year for the crew.
  16. I definitely do not see a match here.
  17. I agree with Nodak on this one. It is about having the freedom to not work not necessarily stopping work.
  18. It really isn't as hard as people make it out to be to retire early. For me personally, I have three jobs and no kids. I am almost 34 and could easily retire before 40 if I wanted to do that. My main strategy is get rid of debt (I have no mortgage on where I live, no student loan debt, credit card debt, etc) and buy rental properties and pay them off asap. I am really not that incredibly frugal either. Now I am sure some are going to say "three jobs, why would you want to do that!". I would counter with "kids, why would you want to do that!"
  19. No idea why the Badgers didn't do backdoor cuts all game long. Nice win for them today.
  20. Except he has graded out as positive defensively.
  21. Dietrich was DFA'ed today and we know Stearns was interested before.
  22. If you have two earners making $16 an hour in a household, you make enough to save. Now if you are a single parent, that would be a problem obviously.
  23. Most people spend money on really dumb things which is why they have no savings.
  24. I would rather our payroll/resources go towards offense than an old starting pitcher.
