Assuming that the Brewers continue to play around .500 ball, it is probably time to consider selling and re-tooling for 2026.
While there are obvious candidates to be traded (Cortes, Quintana, Civale, Hoskins and Payamps), Freddy is a different situation. Right now, he is having a career year. I know some have mentioned extending him but I would rather not extend a pitcher with his frame and age. This season might be the time to extract the most value. One team that isn't afraid to deal top prospects and could fit in well with would be the Padres. They also have budgetary concerns so Peralta's modest contract would be incredibly enticing.
Brewers Trade: Peralta (BTV 45.5)
Padres Trade: De Vries (BTV 44.9)
Yes, De Vries is a highly rated prospect that do not often get traded these days but he is still in A ball. Most teams likely wouldn't consider something like this but the Padres have continually shown they will be aggressive and need to make a move to compete with the Dodgers and Giants. For the Brewers, having an infield of Made, Pena and De Vries all developing together would be incredible for the future. I'm only trading Peralta this season if you can get someone with this kind of upside.
