  1. We did that with Grienke. In hindsight, we would have been better off not going all in.
  2. Kim would be a fantastic pickup. Although I haven't read much recently, there was talk of a lot of competition for him earlier in the offseason.
  3. I'm guessing the new OC and new transfer QB (TBD) plus more NIL money did the trick.
  4. We went from just a few lefties to tons of them.
  5. Good trade for the Sox
  6. No, he won't opt out. His defense is already not phenomenal and there have been a few questions about his age. The Mets will be stuck with him.
  7. According to Robert Murray, we are looking at catching options. I imagine we would DH William a lot more in this scenario which wouldn't be my first option. I am guessing we are looking a ton of different options to cheaply help out the team. None of these guys should be expensive. Among the catchers drawing interest at the Winter Meetings include Yasmani Grandal, James McCann and Tucker Barnhart, among others, sources say. Among the teams in the catching market include the Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox and the Athletics. Yas against RHP in 2024: .747 OPS Haase against LHP (career, too few ABs in 2024): .743
  8. Hall is still a question mark but Ortiz will likely make the trade worth it by himself
  9. Maybe but he was non tendered by a team that needs bullpen help and was a dumpster fire last season.
  10. Thinking about this more, I think our interest is real. We really only "need" one starter at 3B/SS/2B in the near future assuming Turang and Ortiz at least stay at the levels they are at now and into the future. So as of now, we have Made, Pratt, Boeve, Wilken, Arienamo, Adams, Bitonti, etc that are possibilities that could play at least one of those positions. We also have a ton of picks this year. I do not have as much confidence in our starting pitching options this year and especially next year. In 2026, we have Peralta, Myers, hopefully Gasser, hopefully Mis, maybe Hall or Ashby? We have a few other interesting options in the minors but not like our infield options by any means. Crochet is cheap this year and next year. He also mentioned being open to an extension at the trade deadline which may be our angle on trading for him and adding a few years of control on him. The strength of the White Sox minor leagues is pitching so they maybe might not value Mis as much. Brewers get: Crochet (BTV 53.4) White Sox get: Pratt (BTV 19.7), Frelick (BTV 21.4), and Uribe (BTV 7.5)
  11. Mis could be the headliner but I am not trading Pratt or Made for a guy with only 2 years of control.
  12. Poverty franchise
  13. I am more optimistic on this off-season than most. We need to replace the WAR of Adames, Bauers and Sanchez offensively. I think Haase has a chance to give us about what Sanchez did (0.2 WAR) so I won't include him here. Adames (3.1 WAR) Bauers (-0.4 WAR) Assuming we trade Williams, I have confidence that we can replace that production within our budget this off-season.
  14. Isn't 5 years and 100 million the running joke around here?
  15. Happy for Willy, no way we should have paid anything close to this to keep him
  16. Well pretty much most options are better than Baty. I would prefer someone that doesn't suck. Tyler Black is not a 3B.
  17. I'd much rather have Perkins than Baty
  18. A guy like that should absolutely take that kind of contract. Odds of him getting traded to a contender at some point is relatively high.
  19. Trading for Williams does little to help the Rangers lower payroll which would be most of the reason for them to trade Lowe.
  20. There are enough options to pickup a third baseman that you put Ortiz at shortstop and leave Turang at second
  21. Luis Severino to the..... A's? 3 years, 67 million
  22. I think Lowe is a decent target. I might be on an island in that I want Hoskins to be the primary DH this season and to bring in a 1B. I like that Lowe does not need to be platooned, especially with the good defense. He also has been durable which is important to a team like the Brewers. Due to salary, Lowe would be a guy that would maybe make sense for this season and the next. He would be too expensive to make it past that most likely. The trade that works is Lowe (8.2 BTV) for Payamps (3.9 BTV) Joel was 7.2 not long ago so that was kind of a big drop. Payamps can be a high leverage reliever for them and they can save about 6 million. If Texas wants a prospect in the 18-25 range as well, so be it.
