  1. Can play good defense at 3rd and offer some power at a reasonable price? Sign me up. Right now we have too many unknowns to rely on Durbin or Dunn to be a starter. I would be fine adding DeJong to the mix and then let those three fight it out to be a starter. Depth, along with starters, is important for us. If he stinks, you cut him. We aren't talking a big money contract at all.
  2. One thing I should have added to my post but I think they should have been more aggressive turning one of the outfielders (Frelick or Black) into someone that could play SS or 3B. I realize there is a lot of injury risk in our outfield but relying on the AFL stars of Dunn or Durbin to be a starter seems unwise.
  3. Now that pretty much every substantial free agent has signed, it is time to review how MA did. I think it is important to consider that he may be under a budget that is not under his control. Recap of major moves/changes: Let Willy Adames go in free agency Traded Devin Williams for Cortes and Durbin Letting Willy go was the correct decision. If I would have known that our payroll is going to be where it is, I would not have traded for Cortes. I think Nestor is a decent pitcher so it's nothing against him. I would have traded Devin for one of the million cost controlled starters on the Dodgers. I would have traded Payamps for a prospect(s). Finally I would have signed Ha-Seong Kim to the contract he got with the Rays. Payroll would be about the same as it is now but I would feel better about our infield. While the top of our lineup is pretty good, the bottom is pretty bad for a competing team. *Note: I am sure a lot of posters are going to say we should have traded Hoskins. I think the prospect capital and/or the cash we would have to had to kick in would have not made it worth it. Grade: C-
  4. 🙄 Give me an in-depth comparison of how they are similar then.
  5. Settle down there. I didn't quote your post so the crappy Altuve comparison didn't come into play. Ray is a horrible one as well. No race card was played, just a lazy comparison which it is.
  6. It's the same lazy comparisons you read all of the time. Left handed? Check. Outfielder? Check. African American? Check. Comparison over.
  7. The Rockies are dumb and want to hang onto McMahon for some reason
  8. Yep. Also listed in that article in a spot you wouldn't want to be is possibly our starting 3B at the moment, Oliver Dunn. "Baty is one of just 11 who fits the following three criteria: a higher-than-average strikeout rate, an ISO under .100, and little or no reasonable expectation of playing an up-the-middle defensive position regularly."
  9. His defense is still good so I will agree to disagree on getting a guarantee. I'm sure we will know shortly though
  10. I don't think anyone is believing that Iglesias is an .830 OPS guy. But he is projected for a .730 OPS and can play SS which fits our roster. I don't think a few million guaranteed would be a bad investment. Worst case, he is a versatile vet and a good teammate. I do not want to move Turang to SS. Honestly, I think people are assuming his bat will be good enough this next season.
  11. I'd take Iglesias over those three and then DeJong. The other two are minor league signings if at all.
  12. Yeah, when it comes to pitching, I trust the FO. When it comes to offense..... not so much.
  13. Plenty of abs at DH. I prefer to give Contreras actual days off so he doesn't fall apart at the end of the season/playoffs again. Hoskins is slated to play first base as we have no other one on the roster. Yelich has mentioned he prefers to play the field.
  14. Grichuck to the Dbacks for 5 mil. We should have been all over this as a DH/OF.
  15. What a waste of time that gets delayed for one month. The Canada negotiations are even more baffling.
  16. Bregman isn't happening as he will get at least a 5 year deal. Latest report says a team has offered him 6 years. The team needs to find a third baseman for this season. I am confident that someone will take the job next year, possibly Boeve.
  17. Okay, so what is the solution here? The infield as it currently stands is not good enough. Drury stinks. Moncada? Trade? Durbin should replace Monasterio, no way he should be handed the job. Dunn didn't do enough last year either to be handed the job
  18. 13-15 mil for half a season is a little risky. If we had the payroll room, maybe it would have been worth it. A good thing for the Rays is they can offer him the QO after he turns down the PO which is the most likely outcome.
  19. This thread needs Brewers888. If you're going to go dumpster fire, you go full dumpster fire.
  20. This is marketing ... Pretty obvious.
  21. If we have very limited money left, would like it to be spent on an infielder. Right now, we probably have the worst offensive 7-9 part of our lineup in the league or pretty close to it.
  22. Wonder if that means Bregman will be heading back to the Astros now.... Anyways, it would be great if Bregman would sign so the rest of the 3B options could go off of the board.
  23. The Bucks need to get younger and faster. Butler accomplishes neither of those things.
