  1. With the addition of Jeff Suppan, it can be assumed that little more effort will be put into acquiring any more starting pitching this off-season. However, the Crew still could move an outfielder -- presumably Mench or Jenkins -- for something. So what do we want now? Bullpen help? (Do we need it? Maybe another lefty...) Quantity-for-quality corner outfield trade? (In my dreams.) Prospects? I'm curious what you all think. Especially about where on the diamond some new prospects might fit into the five-to-eight-year plan. Edit: Personally, I'd want to trade Clark for a decent low-level pitching prospect, if possible, and go with a starting OF of Jenkins-Hall-Hart with Gross and Mench on the bench.
  2. Can do! http://www.kraftfoods.com/images/recipe_images/Americas_Favorite_Grilled_Cheese_Sandwich.jpg
  3. Good stuff. Thanks for posting this.
  4. If I wanted a guy with a funny name, I'd try to trade for Milton Bradley.
  5. If I wanted a speedy guy with a low OBP and no power in CF, I'd play Gwynn there. I'd prefer to have Weeks, Hall or Hart there, myself. And that's what I'm hoping for. In that order.
  6. I think a ground ball pitcher would have a generally positive effect on the defense, regardless of its current state. They'd have to be on their toes a lot more than they would with Davis on the mound. Projections from a year and half ago have no relevance. That's a bit dramatic, although I did debate whether to put that line in there, due to how old the projections are and how biased I am toward BP. But no, BP didn't predict that he'd be successful for two or three months to ultimately have a middling season. But they projected he'd regress. And they were right. Suppan's PECOTA weighted mean projections for last season were 4.10 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. His actuals were 4.12/1.45. That's pretty darn close. And those aren't bad numbers. But I see more regression, and I don't want this guy for four years.
  7. I'm not convinced a guy's not going to regress just because he's a finesse pitcher. Based on BP's projections (from last year, mind you), we don't want Suppan for more than a year.
  8. I think either Attanasio (not necessarily Melvin) wants to make a splash in the FA market and his time is running out, or this is a posturing tactic, and Melvin's in trade talks with somebody for a SP. I'm not in favor of giving Suppan more than 2 years. Mark my words: We'll regret giving him more.
  9. Yet another reason to suspect we're reverting to Brewers-circa-2002 mode. Pass.
  10. CO has Cory Sullivan, who I think they'll prefer over Brady Clark. That's a .722 OPS in 2006, strong defense and plus speed over a .683 OPS and Brady Clark's defense and sub-par base running. =1&pids[6583]=1&sort=25]2006 Stats
  11. I think Jennings to the Twins for Crain and Slowey/Perkins makes more sense for Minnesota and Colorado, unfortunately.
  12. I'd do Penny for Jenkins and CoCo. It's a risk (I'd have Capellan close), but the value matches better.
  13. Josh - 5918 1862 1077 4686 I got mine today and I actually stopped thinking about the winter meetings for a couple minutes.
  14. Heck yeah, I'd do that trade.
  15. I think Jenkins and Miller for Buehrle would be great. If we keep Rivera as backup, we might not even be taking a hit in the catching department -- at least on offense. (I must admit that I'm biased because of Buehrle's stellar performance on my 2005 fantasy squad.)
  16. Allen, you're a genius.
  17. Jenkins, Sarfate, & $2M to the Giants for Hennessey & Taschner. The Giants need OFs, with or without Roberts. I like this deal by itself.
  18. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-061125rogers,1,2137639.column?coll=cs-whitesox-headlines Just some speculation here -- apparently there's some question over whether the Sox should offer Scott Podsednik arbitration or just get rid of him, and Geoff's name came up. I don't want Scotty Po back, but I might be able to get behind a deal for Alex Cintron or one of their middle relievers. Dave Aardsma, maybe?
  19. There was some speculation on 11/22 in the "Rumor Central" section of ESPN.com that the Brewers might have an interest in Craig Wilson. St. Louis, Toronto, Baltimore, Texas, Cincinnati, Houston and Boston were also mentioned -- all with questions marks, mind you.
  20. I think Hall in CF could be comparable.
  21. I'm not fond of Koskie batting, either. Why not put Cirillo at 3rd, Fielder at 1st, and Miller at DH? I know he's been struggling, but I'd rather see him in there than Koskie against the hottest lefty in the league.
  22. Dare I say it... this is worse than anything Obermueller ever did.
  23. This space left intentionally blank.
  24. So that means I can't join? Can I? Maybe?
