  1. I cannot believe this is a game. I thought we were toast.
  2. We need a turnover in the worst way....
  3. This result shouldn't really be surprising to anyone given management did next to nothing to improve the team to win now. Why would anyone think we'd go any further than last year? Because they undeniably WERE a better team?
  4. Yeah, for a guy that was critical of his own game plan in the first TB game, there's a lot to be annoyed with in regards to the HC's play calling. Burn them on a deep go once? CHECKDOWNS THE REST OF THE WAY!!!!
  5. All sorts of free agents-to-be taking money out of their own pockets today!
  6. For the past 10-12 years or so, you can just feel it with this team when things aren't going to end well. And today has that feeling and did from the first quarter. When all the 50/50 plays, calls, etc go the other way, it's a loss 99% of the time.
  7. This is the same franchise that kept Capers on five years too long. I'll believe it when I see it. Different management....
  8. That last play probably effectively packed both Pettine and King's bags out of town this off season.
  9. Most horrible plan of the year. How in the hell do you allow that??????
  10. What in the world is Jamal Williams doing there?
  11. Brady basically throws up a Hail Mary on 3rd and long and it’s the difference between a 3 and out and a TD. Absolutely unreal.
  12. King mistimed his jump. He’s got that well defensed if he waits a beat.
  13. How does Sullivan end up covering Mike Evans on a third down??
  14. Good lord, just kick it out of the end zone.
  15. I believe Clete Blakeman’s crew is usually pretty good, so there’s that.
  16. Ozuna is the type of bat that really moves the needle on our lineup. I agree with the prevailing opinion that it would necessitate other probably significant moves to create space, but he'd be a substantial acquisition.
  17. ummmmm, I did? Yes, actually. He said: "It's arguably the two most talented QBs in NFL history" And you called him out, saying: "did you just anoint Mahomes as one of the best two QBs in NFL history" Not the same thing....
  18. I mean sure, but at that point the damage is already done and it is just a domino effect after. If you sign some cheap risky option that sucks the replacements are arguably worse and you are just hoping to get lucky. So if he hits like 2019 he may not get 400 ABs, but his replacements are likely to be just as worse making the entire position an utter disaster for 400+ ABs Every team has to have utility players, right? By definition, they're inherently lightning-in-a-bottle type guys. Heck, in the 2018 season they rotated guys like Saladino, etc. through and got acceptable production in a way, which included dumping those guys when they stopped performing. Point is, if he's truly that bad, he won't get 400 ABs.
  19. I think the narrative regarding the 'last few drafts' is widely accepted, but I don't know if I agree. If the mark of a successful draft is getting '2-3 legitimate NFL players' as I believe Ron Wolf once put it, then 2015 is an admitted disaster. But 2016 brought Clark and Martinez, and contributors in Lowry and Fackrell. 2017 brought King, Williams, and Jones. I think there's a lot of bad feelings about the '17 draft because of passing on Watt, letting Biegel go without really having a chance to contribute, and King's early injury problems, but there's three legit NFL players there, including a dynamic play-maker.
  20. Such a great point. There have long been rumors about Ted's declining health, and suggestions that there were issues near the end of his time as GM, so this isn't stunning though still quite sad. There's still a large segment of the fan base that views him negatively due to the Favre-to-Rodgers 'force-out' despite being clearly vindicated there at this point, plus all of the brutal cap cuts that he had to make in '05 to clean up Mike Sherman's terrible cap situation from his time as GM, leading to the 4-12 season. You can debate and criticize his view on team building, free agency and the like, but the reality is that he transitioned us from one HOF QB to another, which historically rarely happens, and built a perennial contender and XLV championship. He should be viewed as not much less significant than Ron Wolf, but I think the fans don't see it that way.
  21. I think a lot of that stuff is premature until actual studies/trials come to fruition. For example, I believe a study concluded this week that indicated the the Pfizer vaccine was effective against the UK variant.
  22. Are we faulty in assuming a generally poorly-run organization like the Mariners are the end-all in proper evaluation and valuation of talent?
  23. Phil Rivers officially retiring. Major QB changing of the guard happening in the league, apparently.
  24. Yes, I'd do that deal as well. The Cook/Kamara deals came after Gordon, though, and I'd think that type of money would be the bar for Jones at this point.
  25. I'm not really making that distinction in my personal views, honestly. In a vacuum, you're right that we could do worse than King at 2nd corner, and if they had massive cap space this year I'd think they'd be interested in some kind of deal with him. But he's going to get more money than he's worth in the end, I assume, especially factoring in the necessary 'expected time missed' that is part of his baggage. I think Jones has a similar problem with both affordability and expected production over the length of the deal. If the Packers could sign him to a 1-2 year deal, he'd likely be worth every penny. But he's going to get 5 and a boatload of cash from some team, and I'd bet a lot of tostidos that the deal will look pretty ugly by year 3-4 as his production tails off like every single RB on their second contract in today's NFL.
