  1. Has there been any actual indication that Braun would be willing to come back on a 'cheap deal'?
  2. Obviously, Vogelbach's value to the Brewers jumps immensely if there's a DH...
  3. Easily? Why not? Both NY (where the game was played Saturday) and IN have documented cases of the new COVID strain that is significantly more transmissible, both states are presently going through infection spikes, and last I checked COVID can indeed be spread outside of bars and NFL football games. In a state where masking protocols are significant and enforced, and as community spread is far less prevalent than 'close contact' spread, stating that he "could have gotten it just as easily no matter how many masks he had on" is false. Also, the game was in Buffalo. It's not like they were in the heart of NYC and flying out of JFK or LaGuardia. Further, your equation also requires the assumption that NFL teams are shuffled through airport terminals with the general public, which we all know isn't accurate. If you had said 'possible' vs. "just as likely," I think your point would be fair. But even then, possible doesn't equal 'likely.' And the mask part of the comment seems like an unnecessary personal opinion qualifier, but I digress...
  4. Yeah, that's the reason I'm holding my breath right now. I'm assuming he's getting tested again this morning, and if that's negative, it'll be a huge relief and an indication of a rapid test false-positive. If he's still positive or symptomatic, the game day morning tests for the rest of the team are going to be really scary...
  5. Easily? Why wouldn't that be easily possible? Because it goes against most of the understanding of how this virus is transmitted. Far, far, more likely that he got it via a scenario like Ron outlined, with a different timeline. To suggest that it's 'just as easy' to have obtained it walking through an airport masked, when presumably said airport has a mandatory mask policy, is blatantly false.
  6. The problem with this theory is that it typically takes 3-ish days for enough viral load to build up to actually test positive. Those contacts are likely, but it's unlikely that he'd have had enough time to catch the virus and have enough of a personal response to actually test positive in that short amount of time. Far more likely that his Tuesday test was positive due to an exposure on Friday or Saturday.
  7. Reports are that Veldheer passed his initial COVID test that was given with his physical, which is why he was allowed to participate in practice initially. His test from the next day was positive. Concerning for sure. Let's root for 'false positive,' obviously. I think there's a very good chance that if it isn't, you're going to see a domino effect along the line....
  8. I think that's a fair point, Ron. But the answer is probably more than one. One on the ML roster out of spring, and at least one in AAA for the inevitable roster move following either an injury or the waiver of guy #1...
  9. I still think this is premature. None of these guys has signed for anything other than a minor league deal with an invite or a non-guaranteed contract. Last year's guys were major league deals, some with option years. Until there's a clear sign that one of these guys is signed with the intention of them being significant contributors, I'm going to assume that this is nothing more than the typical roster-filler moves you see every year.
  10. Yeah, they've been quick to dump underperformers like Brad Miller, Saladino, Sogard in 2018, Holt last year, etc.
  11. Two of my immediate family members were able to get their first shot today, and I'm over-the-moon excited about it. One was my moderately high-risk mother, who is still working in a high-risk job, so it's a huuuuge sense of relief.
  12. This is a key point. This basically makes him the 'preferred walk-on' equivalent of a NRI.
  13. "Really good" is a bit of a stretch IMO. I'd settle for "solid" in 2018. 3.1 WAR is really good in my book...
  14. Seems to grade out as a passable 3B and SS defensively, and a plus 2B. Has played the OF and 1B as well. He was really good in 2018. Since, not so much.
  15. A little surprising, I guess. I assumed he was doing the 'organizational soldier' thing with the last game, but I wonder if the push-back was far more severe than their F.O. expected. He'll get another crack at it for sure. Honestly, I'm glad in a way that Zimmer and Nagy are safe, as Pederson seems likely to have success elsewhere and I don't want him close to the North.
  16. I've been on the 'why does Mike Tomlin still have that job' train for a good 3-4 years now...
  17. Man, we really get spoiled watching our offense function like such a machine. These two teams look terrible today.
  18. Saints seem to be doing everything possible to keep Chicago in the game. If the Bears had any sort of offense, they’d be leading.
  19. The Bears’ offense is so ugly. I didn’t look at the line, but I can only assume that the Saints were favored by 73?
  20. Two solid, but non-scary AFC teams out so far. Curious to see if the Browns can pull off an upset, or if the AFC is basically chalk this weekend save for 5 over 4.
  21. So just to be perfectly clear, you're stating that you think there should be a full-scale hard lock down implemented by the government? I think the point that you missed from Cheezwiz's post was that precautions are taken in a workplace that likely fall short on a family holiday. Food/drinking without masks, hugging/kissing, shared utensils, closer contact indoors due to space restrictions, etc. Perhaps you have a different workspace/environment than I, but none of these items are problematic in our space, and they've STILL sent us all home.
  22. I would literally do that deal this second if it were legitimately on the table. You probably have to add Turang to make it more palatable for the Indians, but I'd still be very much on board.
  23. I’m assuming you have links to show that anyone is actually saying this? What? I need a link to show that pretty much every government official, elected or appointed bureaucrat, is saying that getting together for a family gathering is a really bad idea. But on the other hand, there isn't one peep from them saying that piling into a workplace, with 100 people from 100 different households, could be a significant risk? I really need a link for that? Last night on the way home from work I drove past one of the local steakhouses and the parking lot was jammed packed. So if I get together with 15 relatives from 5 different households for a Christmas dinner, that is a completely unnecessary risk, but the 100 people from 50 different households that were in the steakhouse last night does not present an unnecessary public risk? Best part is that the people who make up all these rules are the first people to ignore their own rules. Clearly, you were asked for a link for the very sentence that was quoted along with my asking for one. Is anyone claiming that workplaces are safer than family gatherings? Is there any science suggesting such? You added the 'sarcasm' indicator in your subsequent edit, for the record. Cheezwiz is right. Many employers HAVE taken significant steps to implement safety procedures. As of literally today, I haven't worked from my company's office for 10 months. That wasn't a personal choice either, they sent basically everyone home. Regarding your steakhouse, I believe you've noted that you live in Wisconsin previously. You and I both know why there's been conflicting stances on restaurants and bars in the state. Throughout all of this, there have sadly been 'sides' that prioritize different things in different cases, and very little common ground has been found along the way. It is again worth noting, however, that restaurants and bars HAVE had restrictions on capacity, spacing, etc. on them basically since day one of the initial lock down and subsequent reopening.
  24. I’m assuming you have links to show that anyone is actually saying this?
