  1. How how how is Jaire not 1st team? That's straight-up kooky dooks.
  2. Two. You can technically be president for 9 years, 364 days at most, but you can finish the second half of a President's term and then serve for two of your own.
  3. I think that's fair. If they wanted to make him this year's Gyorko or Healy, I'm fine with that type of move. But I'd want a strong alternative....
  4. Ok guys, back to the Lindor trade.
  5. Sorry, I think this is mis-characterizing quite a bit. If the same people 'have the right' to post their disappointment over and over in every thread, people with opposing views equally have the right to point out why they disagree with that take.
  6. Cron seems to make too much sense for the Brewers for it actually come to pass. He'd be perfect. Lamb doesn't do much for me. He's a very meh bat overall, probably more like poor when factoring in the expected production of a 3B. Looking at his stats, it's astounding how bad he got after his all-star 2017 season. He's been pretty bad for the last three seasons since...
  7. Nate is right- the Brewers leak nothing about their stuff. This is Tom obtaining a quote that he can put out that is as non-committal and vague as possible to fill space in a reporting dead-zone.
  8. Did they eat/drink? Anecdotally, people I know that have gotten the virus and are 'diligent mask wearers' usually come to the realization that they knew the person they got it from, and realized that they wore their masks most of the time... except for when they were all around the kitchen table eating. Not saying that it happened in your case, but my personal opinion is that a lot of spread is happening in those types of moments when you hear about family events as causes. Glad to hear that your parents made it through ok.
  9. He was 5-11 last year, so I'm not sure 'first sign of trouble' is fair....
  10. Chargers fire Anthony Lynn. If you knew that Anthony Lynn was the Chargers' Head Coach, you're one better than me....
  11. A really good point. I wonder how many Packer fans can look back at how that worked out for Chicago and still wish that the Packers had made that deal. Green Bay was basically able to rebuild the roster by using the picks they didn't give up for Mack and STILL got a disruptive OLB in Z. Chicago has basically bled talent over the past three years and hasn't had resources to fix their growing list of holes. Mack is a fantastic defensive player, but when you surround him with meh, the results are meh.
  12. This was a popular discussion with my family yesterday- the question was 'are the Packers good enough to beat the Chiefs,' and my response was that I'm not sure the Cheifs make it there. They remind me a lot of the '11 Packers, honestly. Ugly defense, great QB/offensive play, but may have played their best football too early in the season and kind of 'uglied' their way into the playoffs. I think you can make a really good case for 4-5 of the AFC teams to make the Super Bowl, and I think the pathway there is harder than in the NFC.
  13. Any word who the Nickelodeon broadcast crew will be? I'll guess Rex Ryan & Dan Schneider. I've got my money on Linda Ellerbee and Mike O'Malley.
  14. Nothing would delight me more than the Bucs getting knocked out by Washington.
  15. Bloody Monday tracker- In addition to the previous openings in Houston, Detroit, and Atlanta, Gase is out in NY and Marrone out in Jacksonville in two largely expected moves.
  16. Monday morning thoughts: 1)I'll never be one of the 'bye is bad' people that seem to come out of the woodwork this time of year. I think the bye can be bad when you're at a fine edge because you're fighting like heck to make it in, ala the 2010 Packers, or when you're stumbling a bit already like the 2011 Packers. Beyond that, it's one less opportunity to lose, and gives you the chance to get healthier than your eventual opponent. Regarding HFA, I think some of the stuff about our record in the playoffs is a touch skewed by playing/losing to the Giants, aka another team that is hypothetically used to playing outside in the cold. When your hypothetical opponents, though, include Tampa Bay and New Orleans, I'll take any possible edge you can get, even if it's without fans. 2)Like it or not (for those that want a coordinator change), the defense is doing what it needs to in order for this team to win. As others noted, Montgomery was largely held in check, and the team turned the ball over. They've really managed to largely bottle-up two pretty good RBs the last two weeks. As my family and I were saying during the game yesterday, if you make the Bears throw it, you win. And they did. 3)I can't believe we're still having the 'need a receiver' argument. Honestly, is that all dependent on a single ball yesterday? If MVS catches the 2nd long TD, are we sitting here talking about how great a 2nd he is? This team is where it is largely due to the offense, and they're firing very well, and their receiving corps is the same as it has been. Time for the fan base to move on, at least until the 2021 off season starts in March. 4)If Rodgers isn't the MVP, the system is loony tunes. Henry is a great RB. Mahomes is sure to win a couple more himself. And Allen was really good for Buffalo. But Rodgers is the MVP. 5)Still kind of lamenting the 2.5 games we lost from Adams this year. I firmly believe his season, which was already one of the best ever, would have been undisputed as the best ever if he had those games back. 6)How good a player has Gary become? 1.5 TFLs yesterday, and a fumble recovery. Glad the team put the time in with him and had the patience that us fans so often lack. 7)As acceptable as the defense has been, it seems that special teams are trying their hardest to be the reason we potentially DON'T win in January. Good grief, the unit literally every week manages to give up a play that nearly turns the game in favor of the other team. At this point, I truly don't care about extra stuff like returning kicks for TDs and the like, I just want the basics done well for the rest of the way: Field punts cleanly (and I don't care if you fair catch every single time), get every punt away (and I don't even care about yardage), get every kickoff to the end zone with none of them out of bounds, and give up no chunk plays to the opponents' punt returners. That's it. On to playoff football....
  17. This is accurate. That’s not the last time he’ll get open deep.
  18. Snacks is active today. Sternberger the only quasi-surprise inactive. Keke out officially as well.
  19. Do you have actual data to support this claim? Seems a dangerous statement to make unless you have verifiable proof... According to this article (https://www.vox.com/22158238/covid-19-vaccine-side-effects-explained) it looks like... "About 16 percent of people who got the shot in clinical trials experienced a “severe” systemic adverse reaction" Most recent numbers have somewhere around 20.5 million Covid cases in the US vs a population of 328 million, or about a 6.3% infection rate. Now obviously that risk is probably higher for health care workers given their increased chances for exposure, but by how much though? I don't know. Just to add a couple of additional thoughts beyond what homer and Machu offered: I think it's problematic to equate current infection rate with the 'risk of getting the virus', as the current infection rate is ever-increasing. I.E., 6.3% today becomes 6.4% tomorrow and continues to go up with every new case. Obviously, the best way to dramatically slow or stop 'ever-increasing' is through vaccination and eventual herd immunity. The data is a bit dated as it's from the week of Christmas, but at that point there had been ~2.1 million vaccinations administered, and the number of truly 'severe'/life-threatening reactions was 11. Not 11%... eleven total cases. To the best of my knowledge, the 'bad' reactions have largely been in the form of anaphylactic shock, and within subjects who had a history of serious allergic reactions. Again only to the best of my knowledge, all of those people recovered with no further issues following the initial reaction. Obviously, any cases like that aren't ideal, but in the end, that's a minuscule percentage of the total number administered. The other reactions are largely to be expected... I know that every time I get my Tetanus booster, my arm hurts a lot the next day or two, often to the point where I don't use that arm the way I otherwise would. But, I know that the arm pain is insignificant relative to the pain that comes with dying from lockjaw....
  20. I’d expect a lot of playing time for Lewis today, as he’ll likely be asked to chip on Mack a ton for help.
  21. Do you have actual data to support this claim? Seems a dangerous statement to make unless you have verifiable proof... This, I think, is a good point. In so many of the 'gotcha' news headlines regarding 'healthcare workers declining to get the vaccine,' I'd be curious to know what percentages are doing so out of some sort of concern regarding the vaccine, vs. simply wanting someone else to take their place in line because they feel they don't need to be first-ish.
  22. Aren't the Browns missing a ton of players due to the outbreak in their facility? That might be part of Pittsburgh's motivation....
  23. Good news on the returnees, meh news on Watkins. Obviously, he's buried a bit if Stepp is headed here as expected. You never feel good about a transfer, but he really was given the opportunity to be 'the guy' this year, and didn't perform well at all. Best of luck to him at Bowling Green or whichever school like that he ends up, as he'll do well there.
  24. Keke is the only player missing tomorrow, beyond Bakh obviously. Williams/Sternberger good to go.
  25. That middling ACC team was 28th in the nation in yards/game, and only 11 Power 5 conference teams had more yards/game this year than they did. In the end, Wake was the 10th best team in a conference not known for its depth or defensive aptitude. It's perfectly fine if they met your expectations, but they didn't meet mine, and again, I'd bet they don't internally feel particularly good about it either. For a team that has basically lived on their defensive prowess over the past ~8 seasons, for one the defense was the main reason they didn't have a lead in that game until nearly the 4th quarter. As I said, uncharacteristically poor considering the bar they've previously set. And again, they CLEARLY made the plays they needed to make in the end to win, which is deserving of kudos.
