  1. But my point was that if they hadn't dropped two 'winnable' games, they'd be tied for first right now with that same next 9 games. For all the crap they've dealt with this year, they're like 3 bounces away from being 15-7 or 16-6.
  2. Steve Atwater was elected to the HOF yesterday, while Butler fell short. Fortunately for Butler, everyone on Twitter is correctly highlighting the fact that Butler outperformed Atwater in nearly every statistical category in his career. Butler is getting in at some point, but it probably should have been yesterday.
  3. Really, really liked 1917. Legitimately one of the better movies I've seen in a long time.
  4. I know every team can look back on a few games and wonder 'what if', but you really have to wonder where this team would be sitting right now if Potter had been eligible in the non-conference season. If they could have turned that St. Mary's game, or even one of the two on a neutral court in NY, they'd be having a much different season. Heck, if they hang on to their lead vs. Iowa and flip that one-point home loss to Illinois, they're tied for first in the Big Ten. Such an odd season.
  5. You are almost certainly the exception, rather than the rule, though.
  6. It was Miller Park for 20 years, which isn't a short period of time. It's not like Enron Field that was around for 2-3 years before the company went under. And despite your personal opinions on the beer, Miller beer and 'Brewers' resonates a lot more with the community than property/casualty insurance.
  7. I don't think either side looks particularly great right now, but King certainly doesn't come out looking clean. He's literally admitting that he quit on his team. "King was held scoreless after missing all five of his attempts from the field and both of his tries from the free throw line. “If I go out there and I don’t want to play, is that really going to do anything for them?” King said."
  8. A little surprised that no one has noted that in addition to Dorsey, Eliot Wolf and Alonzo Highsmith have both quietly left the Browns. There were a lot of people that thought that front office was going to be a high-powered group with a lot of Packer ties. Apparently the grass wasn't greener....
  9. The thing is, Showalter literally said that some people play for the name on the front of the jersey, not just the name on the back. Herro seemed to take exception to that, but offered "making the right decision for himself" as his point, when that literally cements Schowalter's point. Also, I've heard the 'Gard yelled at him' thing as well. If Greg Gard is King's vision of a 'hard-on-you' coach, I'd imaging he's going to struggle to find a good fit in D1, and probably lasted far longer than he ever would have under Bo Ryan.
  10. He has two of the best classes in school history lined up for the next two years of recruiting, so I doubt he gets fired this season regardless of how the schedule plays out.
  11. I'll second this scenario, as I want to root for him but not for him with the Cubs.
  12. I think you can be sarcastic if you want, but the actual statistical projections suggest that the Brewers had a fine offseason and are right in the mix with everyone else in the division as a result.
  13. I think DE is a very likely spot to see them add a body this year. I'd love another Wilkerson-type 'prove-it' deal for a guy if they choose to devote their big FA money/draft picks elsewhere.
  14. I do think it's really interesting that despite the non-flashy way the Brewers turned the roster over this offseason, they seem to have improved the roster from 1-26. As Ennder noted, though, there are a lot of players that could push this significantly one way or the other. I can't shake the feeling that there's still one more significant move still coming, though, but that's just IMO.
  15. I think you might be a little over-harsh on your criticism, as you named 2 guys out of the 350-ish that are in. I think Namath likely gets in more on his persona as a 'contributor' to the league's establishment and development more than anything. But I agree that his numbers are pretty poor. You could make a strong case for Aikman as a legit guy, as Smith almost certainly kept his TD numbers artifically low. But I'd like to see him ranked out vs. his peers in the 90's. Also worth noting that Lynch isn't in the HOF, but is also a finalist like Butler this year.
  16. I agree with you on Butler, but I'd be curious to know who you're considering 'blah' players?
  17. Per PFF's defensive rankings: 8th Overall 4th Pass-rushing 7th Coverage 25th Run Defense You really do wonder if the run defense would be ranked higher if they had people better than Lowry, Lancaster, and Martinez as your primary run stoppers.
  18. I'm fine with Pettine getting another year, for continuity if nothing else; though I was fine if they let him go too. I think sometimes there is some value in continuity when you have a new staff, as you have build a defense that favors Pettine's system, and you want to continue to use the players identified as fitting in that scheme that you've build up over the past two years. Knowing that resources this offseason need to be devoted to the offense, I'm not surprised they're keeping things similar on defense. But I think the leash should be pretty short from here. There has been a lot of improvement with a lot of investment in that side of the ball, and now the coaching needs to create improved results with that investment.
  19. I think the idea is that you don't want to create a hole on a team in hoping that the rookie you take out of North Dakota State or wherever can adjust to kicking in the NFL/at Lambeau in the winter, when you know that Crosby is fine.
  20. Yeah. I'm about halfway in between the 'statistics say he's great' and 'twitter says he's the worst MLB ever' poles, but I saw a projection for Martinez to get 5/$82 mil in free agency. That's insanity.
  21. I think Ruggs would be very hard to pass on if he was there at 30, but I don't think he will be.
  22. Just a quick note on cap space. Assuming Graham and Taylor are goners, and the possible if not likely idea that Linsley gets cut to avoid his $10m cap number, the Packers will have a substantial $50.5 million in cap space.
  23. Among the top 30 WR's in terms of receiving yards in 2019: - 4 of the top 10 were taken after pick #60 - 11 of the top 20 were taken after pick #60 - 15 of the top 30 were taken after pick #60 There is no need to spend a 1st round pick on a WR when the data says that you can get good ones in the 2nd and 3rd round. San Francisco didn't get to where they are by spending 1st round picks on WRs; they spent them on DL and OL. Which is why I said a 2nd....
  24. You really do feel too, that the Bucks winning it all helps break a glass ceiling of sorts too. There's the potential the Bucks could win 2-3 titles with how good they are right now. Not that it bleeds to other sports, but it does feel like these things clump sometimes.
  25. Not picking on you in general but I never get this kind of thinking by fans and WI fans in general. I don't think it's unfair of adam to think that way at all. I think the point is that Wisconsin sports fans have had a LOT of success over the past couple of decades, but other than XLV they've typically been unable to actually close the deal. The Bucks are probably the favorite to win it all at this point, and that would feel mighty good to finally get a team over the hump.
