  1. We could say this every year since 2011. Don’t tell Bob McGinn that....
  2. Crosby has been really great this year.
  3. They basically threw a flag on a defensive player who knocked a guy over who was preventing him from going to the ballcarrier. It’s an unbelievable call.
  4. That call on Martinez is completely ridiculous.....
  5. What a disheartening drive by the defense after a great offensive opener.....
  6. There's so much year-to-year turnover in college football rosters that last year's team doesn't automatically equal this year's. Which is why the preseason polls are a bit absurd.
  7. I'm not positive that's automatic with Clemson, but you're probably right. Their SOS is truly terrible this year, but they're Clemson.
  8. Bulaga is active, which is great news.
  9. Penn State. They would end up ranked ahead of us, that should be all the Rose Bowl needs if they want them over us. I think the Badgers have two things going for them relative to PSU- the first being that PSU was there more recently and Badger fans are likely to travel well to the Rose Bowl. The second is that even though Wisconsin would have one more loss in this case, their resume still includes a West Championship and they're the conference runner up. I think all of that combined makes them a more attractive pick even with a higher-ranked Penn State sitting there, IMO. But obviously, I'm biased. As adam said, though, there is now a legit chance that even if Wisconsin got snubbed for the Rose, a Cotton or Orange Bowl would still be very much in play.
  10. But why? There's zero need to move Arcia this year, and taking on bad salary just to do so makes zero sense for a team like Milwaukee.
  11. The best argument for an 8-team playoff is that it includes all of the Big 5 champions automatically.... then take 3 at-larges like UGA, etc. and noone is left out in the cold. It just seems logical that, like in the NFL, you don't have all teams in that hypothetically have a claim to at least play in a tourney for the title.
  12. Yes, the Oklahoma game going final did drop the Badgers odds quite a bit.
  13. I understand conditional probability just fine. I'm a numbers guy. I don't know what you mean by your first sentence. I literally said OSU is making it and UW's only shot would be as a 2nd B10 team. I'm not sure you understand what we're saying. We're saying the models are wrong and OSU is in regardless of what happens next week. Go back and read the post directly before mine, where the poster spent the entire post questioning how you could think OSU would drop to 5th for Wisconsin to make it in. I’m not sure you understand that not all responses are directed at you....
  14. Interesting, because I think the job he did as GM in 2019 to make the team competitive in the end was fantastically good. Depends on what the goal was. If it was to be competitive, then he was successful. If it was to win the WS, then the decisions he made (and a bunch of unfortunate injuries) weren’t a success. Are we blaming a GM for a “bunch of unfortunate injuries” now?
  15. Why are you guys assuming that OSU doesn’t make it as well? Conditional probability, guys. OSU losing bad enough to fall out of the top four is just one of the possibilities. If Wisconsin wins next week, OSU still has a 39% chance of making it. A Wisconsin win coupled with an Oklahoma loss and a Utah loss says the odds suggest BOTH OSU and Wisconsin making it.
  16. Interesting, because I think the job he did as GM in 2019 to make the team competitive in the end was fantastically good.
  17. At this moment, if the Badgers win against OSU, they are projected to have a 44% chance to make the playoff. That seems about right....
  18. At this moment, if the Badgers win against OSU, they are projected to have a 44% chance to make the playoff. That seems about right....
  19. I was wrong. However, I won't backtrack from my prediction. But after five "meh" games, who saw this performance coming? The Badgers won the last three of those the last five games 24-22, 37-21, 45-24, including the closest of those against a team ranked in the top 15. I think those that expected more may have had their expectations a bit off.
  20. Ray seems like a bit of an enigma to me. Other than a GREAT 2017, his FIP numbers are bad, and he doesn't really log a lot of innings either. I think there's a chance you have to pay to acquire an all-star level pitcher who actually has Zach Davies-like numbers.
  21. Thanks for the insights! It Seattle expected to try to contend, or are they reloading for 2021 and beyond? Better put, are they looking for MLB-ready arms, or are prospects more ideal?
  22. I think the weather really could favor Wisconsin today if it neutralizes Minnesota's passing game some. This is the biggest game the Badgers have played in a while. Hopefully they're up for this one, as there's no reason not to pull out all the stops today.
  23. This is the same stuff you hear about the Badgers every Saturday, and the Packers every Sunday. Is this just the instant-ranting allowed by Twitter that allows for immediate negative feedback, or are we truly just not enjoying sports the way fans used to? My goodness.... Lloyd Carr once said 'I'd take an ugly win over a pretty loss every Saturday.' I still believe that to be true, personally.
  24. I trust Stearns' ability to determine whether Shaw's season was an outlier or a trend better than our ability here, so I think Monday will give a good indicator of what the Brewers feel Shaw is capable of in 2020.
  25. They were also the runner up in the championship game....
