  1. Prior to these signings and factoring in the Perry cut, the Packers had ~$38.2 million in cap space. Their draft pool is estimated at $10.3 million. Including that, and assuming your number for 2019, they've got about $1.9 million to work with free and clear, and more pending other cuts/restructures. Za'Darius' contract is the only one I haven't seen official numbers on yet, which implies some skepticism about his agents' details from yesterday. The others total $16,150,000, so I'm curious how his was officially structured. Update: Spotrac has his cap # at $7,250,000, leaving the Packers ~$4.5 million under the cap right now. According to this, the Packers have much more cap space than is being noted here. I’d bet that is still gross of the draft pool, and as he noted doesn’t include the RFAs. My number will be a bit low since some of the draft will offset the top 51, so I think they still have room to make another serious move or two if they want.

  3. This draft is incredibly important, as is this offseason as a whole. So far so good.... Sweat is increasingly unlikely to be there at 12, and I'm just not willing to give up the fantastic capital we have this year to move up unless Allen or Bosa start falling. I think what yesterday's moves have done is removed the 'need' to pick an Edge at 12, and they can go whereever they'd like. I'd be modestly surprised if 30 (if they stay there) isn't one of the TE's, but I'm increasingly convinced that they may look for value at 12 or trade down with a team looking to move up if a QB falls to there. Gute seems like the type that may go BPA with that pick.... i.e., are you better off taking the 4th Edge off the board, or the best OT/WR/CB/S if guys like Jawaan Taylor, D.K. Metcalf, Greedy Williams are there as one of them is likely to be.
  4. Someone will give him a deal, but I agree with most that it shouldn't be the Packers. I know Tate is older, but he's been incredibly durable so far in his career. I'd rather have a guy who is on the field and older than someone with a bit more upside that will only play 8-9 games, personally.
  5. Yep, I read that wrong originally ("2nd third round pick")... thanks! Not sure if the Packers had a Peppers equivalent to trade, but I'd have done the 1st/3rd for sure.
  6. A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and Jabril Peppers for OBJ is a nice haul for the Giants.
  7. Even more so when they're on the topic that is being discussed in the thread. Please start a new thread or bump an old one if you want to continue this debate, otherwise let's please get back onto current topics.
  8. I just think that money is better used towards resigning Breeland or elsewhere, personally.
  9. I didn’t realize cutting Tramon would free up $4.75 million. I’d be fairly surprised if that doesn’t happen...
  10. That's the type I'd advocate for as well, a Golden Tate-type guy.
  11. I felt that the Packers had 5-6 serious holes headed into this offseason (Both safeties, RG, WR 2, 2 Edge guys), and a serious lack of depth across most of the offensive positions. Today, they filled 4 of those holes and still have 3 picks in the top 44 and a ton of 2nd and 3rd day picks to address depth. A mighty good day for the Packers.
  12. I’m a little skeptical of taking contract numbers from his agent, but that’s a large deal if accurate.
  13. Perry frees up $3.33 million. I suppose there’s a chance they designated him as a post June 1 to free up more, but that hasn’t been reported anywhere so seems unlikely.
  14. Possible they’re not done with cuts. I’d think there’s a chance they dump Bulaga and free up $6.6 million.
  15. The Packers are signing Broncos OL Billy Turner. Can play both tackles and guard.
  16. Nick Perry is being released, per Rob Demovsky.
  17. Right- it’s been paid, but it still counts against the cap in a given year. If he was on the roster, he’d be on their cap for 12.6 million, not just the $9 million. They’re accelerating on the 3.6 million for 2020 onto the 19 cap, as they were already on the hook for 3.6. 12.6-7.3=5.27, which is what I’ve seen elsewhere, including the link you provided. Click the little scissors at the end of his contract on the Sporttrac site, and it shows you how much cutting him now would save, and it’s 5.27. To simplify, if he’s on the roster he costs them 12.6 mil, if he’s not it’s $7.3 of dead cap, saving them 5.27.
  18. Cutting Graham would only free up $1.67M in cap space. He has $9M in salary + roster/workout bonus in 2019, but would take a $7.33M cap hit by releasing him. You won't get equivalent talent for $1.67M. I'm not sure this is correct- I see a $12.6 million cap number if he's on the roster in 2019 ($3.45m base, $3.66 prorated signing bonus, $5.3 roster bonus, $250k workout) with that dead cap of $7.33 for savings of $5.27 million. I'm confused here as well- $11.6 million cap number next year, -$3.6mil of signing bonus (dead cap)= $8 million in savings, no? What am I missing?
  19. TJ Lang out in Detroit, which surprised me. I wonder if the Packers would kick the tires to help on the o-line.
  20. From a PR standpoint, they'd be better off taking the lower pick in that case. Their fanbase will not give them any slack if they trade him to NE.
  21. If that's true, the Steelers' leverage is nothing. I'd offer a 2nd, and that's about it at this point.
  22. Rumor has it the Raiders, Redskins, and Titans are the top contenders for Brown. The lesson there may be that if you demand a trade, you'd better be careful or you'll end up playing for a crap team.... I'm not sold on any of those teams being very good going forward.
  23. I guess I'm 'shocked' that he's still looking to play football. I think this may be a Sam Shields-type situation, but that's purely my own opinion. That the Badgers seem to have viable alternatives seems to make it a non-event.
  24. ...which is why this offseason isn't limited to one move. They have enough capital to fix a lot of problems, including o-line depth.
  25. I guess I'll believe it will cost that much when I see it. Just because the Cardinals are rumored to be willing to make a bad trade doesn’t mean that they actually will. I can't see anyone paying that price, especially not a crappy team that won’t be able to make him happy. If they do, it will be an astoundingly bad move.
