  1. I'll reiterate that you have a theory about what the team can/could do with payroll, but truly have no ACTUAL idea what their finances look like. Until we do, it's not a given that anyone is playing anyone.
  2. I think Nelson and Lang's retirement (and probably Sitton as well) reiterates that the Packers have done a really good job of identifying when a player doesn't have enough left in the tank to justify another contract. Other than Casey Hayward (which was a colossal mistake), they haven't really let a guy go that has had even modest success elsewhere and they typically play a year or two and hang it up. I'd say that Cobb and Matthews are probably going to end up playing out in a similar manner. Of course, the problem has been that they weren't able to backfil the all of the holes left by those free agents that departed in TT's later years.
  3. Might have more to do with the fact that many people can't take a random Thursday afternoon off and post on a message board vs. a Friday night, IMO.
  4. I'm a big fan of BPA at #12, and whatever of the TE are left at #30.
  5. It's really dangerous to make assumptions based on incomplete data. As Roco notes, I'd be curious to know how the operating expenses really look on paper- does that include minor league expenses? The large sums outlayed for the Maryvale project? Or just the day-to-day operations of the big league club itself? Net of interest and taxes, I'm betting the actual 'net profit' is far less than the estimates being thrown around here based off incomplete surface-level data.
  6. Yep. It's all we have to work with though since Forbes doesn't have access to all the numbers. No offense intended, just wanted that out there for the good of the discussion!
  7. I have no idea how that last tip in attempt by UCF didn't fall. Those were two fantastic looks at the end, and neither went.
  8. It's worth noting for those not familar with accounting that operating income is NOT net profit, as it does not account for taxes or interest expense.
  9. Problem is, Bulaga has rarely stayed healthy throughout his career- he's only played in more than 75% of the games 3 times in his career thus far. Obviously, the Packers will be better able to make a decision on his health and effectiveness better than we will, but I think there's a strong chance that if they're presented with a better option, they'll cut him if they feel that he either isn't a good bet to stay healthy or ineffective if he does. Also, not sure where you're seeing the $23million and change for the cap- they're closer to $14 at this point, and $7-8 million when factoring in the draft class. Bulaga has played in 75 pct of the games in 6 of his 8 seasons....not seeing where you come up with 3. . Go back and read the wording of my post again....
  10. They lost by 19..... that's embarrassing whether it's Murray State or Georgetown.
  11. Unbelievable to think where things were for Marquette a month ago, and how horrible this season ended up.
  12. I'm not opposed to that idea either. I guess it comes down to health and expected effectiveness for the money. They'll decide whether, like Cobb, you're willing to carry relievable cap number for 7-10 games or so.

  14. Well, that was a weird bump.
  15. Bulaga carries the largest cap savings that the Packers could/would realistically free up by releasing a guy at $6.67 million. For all of the discussion about Graham, TWil, etc., it's Bulaga that is probably the most in trouble if the Packers want to free up more space. That doesn't mean they will, of course. Bulaga may still have productive days ahead of him, and that's for the Packers to decide.
  16. Breeland to the Chiefs. I thought GB would try to keep him, but maybe the injuries were too much of a concern?
  17. A team that won 14 games in a tough league and just experienced their first double-digit loss of the season yesterday in the NIT? Come on.
  18. Yeah. A little surprising that he was the first Packer FA to sign, but maybe that just speaks to the quality of the Packers' FA class on the whole. Pretty quiet around the league after the initial frenzy. It'll be interesting to see where the 2nd/3rd tier guys end up and if the Packers are involved.
  19. ?? Turner is being pegged as the starter at RG. If they draft Williams and he's starting, it's likely because Bulaga is gone. Turner was signed to play, not be a reserve.
  20. Practically a polar opposite game from yesterday. Yesterday they shot well and were very sloppy with the ball. Today, they fixed the turnover issue and shot like crap.
  21. Jake Ryan to Jacksonville, pending a physical.
  22. LaFleur wasn't in Jacksonville, the OC was.
  23. $26,500,000, the highest on the team by far and 13.5% of the Packers' total cap.
  24. The Packers have re-signed Marcedes Lewis to a 1-year deal.
  25. It did give me a lot of joy to see that after signing Barr, the Vikings basically have no cap room to do anything.
