  1. and ended up not pitching for a year. Yeah, this really can't be overlooked. If the Brewers had re-signed Sheets and paid him 10-15 million last season while injured the whole time, Melvin would have taken more heat than he already is.
  2. Well, this season certainly comes down to "Troubles with -insert name here- in the closers role" so far....
  3. Didn't look like Axford was coming in as they went to break there.... sticking with Hoffman with Axford up just in case? EDIT: Nope, Axford it is.
  4. Easy, efficient inning for Hoffman. Are they tempted to bring him back out for the 9th?
  5. if he's actually ready to rehab before June 3rd. Gamel actually began his rehab this past Thursday at Brevard.
  6. Wouldn't the 60 days for Gamel be up soon anyway at the end of May or early June and so he can still be activated and sent down. 60 days would be June 3, if my math is correct. Because it seems this organization clearly hates Mat Gamel. This move would actually be beneficial to Gamel, depending on when he would have been activated otherwise.
  7. If Attanasio wants to hold onto Prince and ends up not trading him now or before next season, I will be very ticked off. You will get peanuts for him if you wait till the deadline next season. I think it depends a lot on the year Prince ends up having. Obviously, 2010 hasn't been kind to Prince for the first two months, so if that continues, I think there can be a legit argument made for hanging onto him until next July to see where both the team is and if a better year to start next year would help increase his value.
  8. Personally, every good start that Sheets makes pushes me closer to the 'fire Melvin' crowd. Better starts for him his last few times out, but his ERA is still near 6.
  9. he could be off the DL next week. Thanks, that answers my question.
  10. Basically all you guys want to do is extend Gamel's service time accumulation by forcing him to stay on the MLB DL longer. I don't want to pay for an extra day, he's already burned up too much service time hurt and and on the bench. Is 2-3 weeks going to matter? No not really, it's the principle of it. He's currently playing at Class A Brevard, just started playing this week, and isn't doing well so far.... how much longer would a move to the 60-day actually delay his activation?
  11. If that move is inevitable, why not just take care of it right away? Because something could easily happen in the next two weeks to make it not-inevitable. If Inglett's ankle were to be broken or something along those lines. Why make a move on a player when you don't have to?
  12. Ya I get that, but what exactly is the point of that when they can DFA anyone they want in AAA? Why DFA someone when you can make a paper move that changes nothing?
  13. Why would they put Gamel on the 60 DL? He's been playing since Wednesday. He's currently on rehab assignment and could stay as such for another week pretty easily.
  14. Great inning for Parra! I suppose Bush is also a possibility tomorrow... good call AKA augie.
  15. Gamel could retroactively go on the 60-day DL to clear a spot for a week or two...
  16. That catch by Hart makes up for any prior issues he's had in RF. Wow.
  17. Call me crazy, but if this games goes a few more innings, I'd pitch Parra and bring up Capuano to start tomorrow. I had thought about Parra, but wasn't sure who would make the start instead. Nice idea!
  18. Is anyone left besides Vargas and Hoff? Suppan. But both Suppan and Vargas are supposedly unavailable after yesterday.
  19. I'm fairly surprised they didn't have Escobar moving on a 3-2 pitch in that situation.
  20. Wow! I just noticed that on the replay. What a clown! Must be an awfully embarrassing feeling after that ball gets caught and makes him look like a dope!
