  1. Now Zaun is being paid on the DL. This is not an unexpected development when you play a 39 year old as your regular catcher. He hurt himself on a swing, not anything to do with him playing catcher. couldn't they just as well have gotten similar production with a Rivera/Kottaras combo Considering that Rivera was pretty awful last year while Zaun has been really good offensively at the catcher position, I'd say most definitely no. Not to mention that the only offer Rivera got after being released by NY was to play in double A.
  2. Salome took an extended leave of absence from the team due to personal reasons.
  3. Has anybody seen any odds on what happens to Jack by the end of the episode? I'd be curious to see those. My prediction/guess for the finale: Everything seemingly gets wrapped up in a bow- Jack gets his revenge and all the bad guys get killed or caught as the case may be. Jack is already hurt from last week, and might get hurt additionally, and everything seems in place as Jack is in an ambulance as we near the end....... .....when suddenly, the ambulance is ambushed and the season ends with Jack being dragged away by mysterious henchman that are revealed to be working for a surprise villain from somewhere in the show's past, very similarly to the ending of season 5.
  4. I'd take the over on 8, personally. If he's going after the Russian leader, that's a ton of bodyguards.
  5. Sending Axford down with how refreshingly good he's looked in his first two outings would be almost criminal.
  6. I'm sure one of the movie studios is already trying to obtain the rights to the story...
  7. It's becoming more than a little concerning that multiple players are publicly questioning their results and seemingly know what they need to do to make things better, but aren't doing them. Doesn't exactly reflect well on the coaching staff.
  8. Because God forbid we have a starting pitcher go more than 6 innings. It certainly would be ideal. But not in tonight's situation- having Wolf throw 120 pitches when he was fading and continuing to let him flounder out there was absurd.
  9. Well, nice example of why Macha should be fired here. Wolf never should have started the inning, and leaving him in to flounder was just lunacy. And I was almost stunned that Weeks didn't at least knock that ball down on the tying hit. Not sure why they'd shade a pull hitter so far up the middle.
  10. Nice heads-up play by Escobar (though it was darn close at 3rd), and great hitting again by Casey.
  11. f he tried to make a comeback and looked silly his first 15 ABs, I'd be calling for the team to end the madness And I'm sure that would be greeted with the same concerns about how small a sample size you're basing that opinion on. If you increased your claims over the next 15 AB's and were brazen and almost intentionally mean about it, it would cause people to wonder about your motivation, regardless of how you intended it, as previously mentioned.
  12. So realizing someone cannot do their job anymore translates directly into not liking that person. Well, when you repeatedly comment on it in a particularly vicious way and immediately put down those who disagree with your assessment, it strongly indicates a dislike of a guy or at least a lack of objectivity. Maybe that's not your intention, but that's how it comes across.
  13. Wow, now I'm actually starting to not like the guy. Starting? Haven't you been calling him 'done' since his second blown save?
  14. We've been down this road with pitchers pitching when they shouldn't be While that is probably true for an outing or two, I just can't fathom it over an entire month or more, especially with the results he's been getting on the field. If he was mediocre or just a little off, I could buy them overlooking something, but he's been just terrible.
  15. not that big a deal, especially with several Brewer starters being not too bad at hitting. They may not be too bad, but none of them are as good as Jim Thome. It'd be like putting yourself at a man down for the rest of the game. But as naivin said, throwing away one game probably isn't a big deal anymore at this point.
  16. The great Willie Davis had a leadoff hitter with a sub .300 OBP for an entire season. Davis also passed away in March, so he's probably a poor choice for manager. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Dont know if its true, it sounds like someone hoping.....but we will see. Yeah, the one major red flag to the info is that if he'd been fighting an injury, why would he retire? The injury would explain his ineffectiveness. And if the injury was serious enough to force retirement, I can't believe he'd have been able to pitch through it for a month.
  18. It was Melvin's choice to focus on certain areas such as position players. What's Jack's excuse for his first three years, then?
  19. No need to use the backup catcher to DH. Yeah, the consequences of a Zaun injury would be really bad if Kottaras was at DH and Lucroy wasn't called up prior.
  20. I pretty much agree that we've gotten to the point where this isn't something they can simply shrug off as a slow start. I think a "DL-stint" with a two week "rehab assignment" in Nashville would be a prime opportunity for him to either get things figured out off the Brewers roster or prove that he's done.
  21. The Lee trade will be largely a waste of three good prospects with their lack of competitiveness since he's shown no interest in re-signing so far. Considering that they were predicted by a lot of people to be competing for that division this year, I think it's fair to say that the results have been disappointing thus far.
  22. Outside of Aaron Pierce, I'm not sure what past characters are still living to bring back. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. I shouldn't have to explain why my enthusiasm is curbed. By the 15 game sample, or that the Washington Nationals, with their track record of player development/evaluation, put him on waivers?
