  1. Joe Morgan explaining is pretty funny. Fixed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Nice to see the Cards finally botching some defensive plays. Except for that crazy diving catch.
  3. And while there is hope of improvement most players at 24 are what they are. Since it's almost universally accepted that players peak around age 27-28, what exactly are you basing this on?
  4. Lawrie is definitely athletic enough to play the position, but his defense isn't improving at the same rate as his offense and his defense started out way behind. I think that's completely fair. I'm just clarifying that a lot of the concerns with Lawrie (including your sentence above) were said about Weeks as he came up as well.
  5. As for Lawrie the scouting reports regarding his defense have been negative to say the least. He most likely will end up an outfielder and will most likely be below average at any position. But it's worth noting that the scouting report on Weeks was pretty much the same until the last couple of seasons....
  6. Wisconsin and BC sure look depleted offensively. I'll admit I had to look at this awhile to figure out why it wasn't in the hockey thread....
  7. I think it came down to who do you expect to have the highest percentage change vs. the opposite handed pitcher. Sure, but Hart wasn't even loosening up. So Macha never even gave a thought to Hart batting vs the RHP instead of Edmonds vs the LHP even before Reyes' control was shown to be suspect last night.
  8. Neither one's great, but in a close/OT-type loss you go right from hopeful to "heart torn out of chest" in a split second. Honestly, I'd rather lose like that than being destroyed. Like the Duke/Butler game- if that shot goes in, it sucks for Duke, if not, it sucks for Butler, but at least there was the chance. Here it's like they stepped onto the ice and were destined to lose.
  9. Jeebus, this is just getting embarrassing.
  10. Guh. What an awful way to lose the National Championship game. Gudmandson has looked lost all night, the Badgers have been sloppy, and BC has looked faster and more physical than Wisconsin. Tough way to go out.
  11. I'd imagine that a lot of what they decide to do with Weeks will depend on how Lawrie continues to develop in the minors.
  12. Oh. My. Goodness. Davies must feel cursed at this point.
  13. Also, I thought I heard that they were only expecting to fill Ford Field halfway, which would mean there is probably a lot of empty parking versus what it looks like during a Lions game. While true, Comerica Park and Ford Field likely share their parking, so the Tigers crowd was probably leaving at almost exactly the time the hockey crowd was arriving, hence my point.
  14. Tigers baseball literally feet away from Ford field tonight as well? Who was the genius that scheduled that? I'm sure parking/traffic are wonderful in Detroit tonight....
  15. For as crisp as the Badgers' passing was vs RIT, they've been crap so far tonight.
  16. Not a great period for Wisconsin. Still, the one goal came on yet another penalty on Mitchell for being too tall, while 4 of the Badger shots required fantastic saves by Muse. Gudmandson really seems to be having trouble seeing for whatever reason, as he has looked like he hasn't seen the puck on 4/5 BC shots so far.
  17. Man alive, the Cards have made every single tough defensive play in this series so far.
  18. Brewers getting dominated by Hymen Garcia Not sure why you'd think this is appropriate here....
  19. from reading these comments over time, it seems like the Braun honeymoon has ended No kidding. No one apparently even thought to mention that Escobar mishandled an easy throw on the play and then didn't make much of an attempt to go after it until the runner was already in at 2nd.
  20. Just a reminder that even when you're quoting from movies, swearing is not allowed here.
  21. Anyone else surprised that Cabrera is still only 26? Seems like he's been in the league forever already.....
  22. Considering that Hart wasn't even considered to PH for Edmonds last night with a lefty on the mound, I'm not entirely sure it's that black-and-white, Ennder.
  23. I'm not calling for the closer's head yet, but I'm getting there. He did not look good at all on Tuesday, and last night was a disgrace. That hitter strikes out on that pitch 9 times out of 10. Sometimes you just tip your hat to a guy after he wins the game after being fooled so bad that he hits the HR with his knees on the ground. No 'disgrace' about it.
  24. Wow, I truly don't think I've ever seen a hitter completely fooled to the point where he's literally at the plate on one knee then hit that ball out for a HR. Crazy.
  25. Come on dude, he got his feet under him and put something on the throw. Casey just isn't agile enough to be able to do the same thing. It doesn't matter if he was going to 2nd or 1st, I'm talking about the ability to pop off the ground in proper body position to make a good throw. Escobar had all the time in the world to set himself and make the throw, as the runner was 2/3rds of the way to third. Casey had to hurry to get the runner, which is the inherent problem of the position. That's not even CLOSE to apples to apples. Come on yourself.
