  1. Never said anything of the sort, for the record, as I agree.
  2. I agree to a point, but when you have two guys (Brady and Rodgers) who could potentially win the award, and one has been a distraction to his team based on what he has done, or has been doing in his personal life (the vax drama, and the "I might not play this year tantrums) then I think it plays into the final decision. Does a true MVP (Most Valuable Player) act like that and put extra stress on the team for his ridiculous actions? It would be one thing if Rodgers was heads and tails above Brady in stats, leadership, etc, but that isn't the case. In fact, I don't think there is a single player in the entire NFL that provides more presence and leadership than Tom Brady. I can fully understand why a voter would take the Rodgers drama and have it be a strike against him. His childish behaviors did in fact cause distraction to the team, which in my eyes, if you have 2 guys to pick from, neither a cut above the other, then the Rodgers crap has to work against him imo And I, personally, would weigh some of the Brady stuff with regard to telling the opposing sideline to bleep off and throwing things around when losing negatively. But, Brady is given a pass because he wins, even though he's displayed poor sportsmanship at times. Why shouldn't that factor in if the Rodgers stuff does?
  3. To be fair, that's not what was said. What was said was that we don't know if his behind-the-scenes situation with his family has stuff in it that would place him in that category. I guess I tend to trend toward the thought that anyone that treats their mother like crap save for those abused by said mother certainly COULD fall in that category, but again, I don't know anything beyond that he's estranged from every member of his immediate family, which seems beyond abnormal.
  4. Well, we really don't know this. Anyone who torches and abandons their own immediate family has far more going on behind the scenes than any of us can know with certainty.
  5. I think the guy really got himself into trouble in two major ways- first, keep your mouth shut until after the voting. Second, don't paint yourself into a corner- as others said, talking too quickly without thinking about what you're saying is recipe for disaster. If he had said something to the effect of, 'I think based on all factors that Brady was the MVP of the league', no one would push back much on his choice to cast his vote that way.. But, he blatantly said that Rodgers was the best player in the league this year and he wouldn't be voting for him, which destroys all credibility. Add in that narrative coming from a Chicago-based Bears fanboy, and it equals a guy who probably won't have a MVP vote much longer.
  6. Yeah, based on the reaction of his peers and current/former players, it seems almost as likely that Hub loses his MVP voting rights vs. hurting Rodgers' chances. Though I do think it's fair to assume he may not be alone in his views amongst the voters.
  7. Perhaps a silly question, but with all the playoff changes this year I'm legit not sure- is there a REAL/fixed bracket this year, or is it still that the Packers get the lowest seed regardless of who that is?
  8. I disagree with the take that the team was the 'favorite' last year despite having the one seed. That defense was pretty 'smoke and mirrors' in contrast to what is out there this year, and I always felt that Tampa was a more complete team.
  9. I do wonder what light he'd be viewed in if all of that had taken place 8-10 years later as part of the larger movement against male celebs with regard to that stuff, honestly. The NFL basically acts as though it never happened, despite the literal fact they suspended him for his conduct back then.
  10. What a monumental win for this team.
  11. I'd HAVE to think the team would like to get some of the coming back injured guys some game reps if at all possible prior to the playoff game, and I'd have to think a meaningless game vs. Detroit would be a low pressure way to do so. I really, really hope Jaire and Bakh can get some snaps on Sunday.
  12. Didn't he lose the OC job after last season? Play calling, not OC. Though I don't believe the former actually happened either, FTR.
  13. Probably a good thing for the offense overall, but a big negative is that he was supposedly a big plus on the recruiting side. He went from OC/Asst HC/OL at Wisconsin to JUST o-line at VaTech, so you'd have to assume this was a 'move elsewhere or be fired' situation....
  14. I think that to win at Lambeau, a team will have to have a very good running game and/or a QB that has the ability to play a near flawless game. SF certainly has the former. I think the cold weather is a good equalizer vs. a pass-oriented offense like the Rams. So, I think the team you're hoping to avoid might be SF, but it feels pretty much like 'pick your poison' this year in the NFC. I think my personal preference is to always delay playing the other teams that pass the eye test as long as possible. So, if we can avoid Arizona/Dallas/Tampa until the NFC title game, that would be fine IMO.
  15. I think you'd have to put Tampa at the top of the list just because they did it last year - however I think they may have their hands full in the 1st round if seeding stays consistent and they play the 49ers, and they aren't peaking headed into the postseason. I think this is a really good point- it's usually the team peaking at the right time that you worry about, and it's really hard to argue that Tampa is playing anything close to their best football right now.
  16. It's being discussed now because the blurb was released by whomever did so yesterday, at the same time said seed was locked up. If it had been released later this week, it would have been discussed then and we'd only be discussing last night's game. But it wasn't released later, so we're discussing both.
  17. How many of those teams were 40+ million over the cap without one of their best players under contract and is insistent on being the highest paid WR in the league? In short, the Packers put all of their cap-cards on the table last offseason to make one final run. With the salary cap, eventually there's a year where you can't kick the can any further down the road. The Packers are there, just like they were following 2005.
  18. All of these moves still put you about $20 million short, FWIW.
  19. Someone get Zimmer something to cover his nose before it seriously falls off from frost bite.
  20. You'd rather the ESPN crew were doing this? I like Collinsworth. Only my belief that Tirico is a fantastic PBP guy keeps me from despising the fact that I have to have the sound on the TV right now.
  21. There is no Sunday night game next week, if the ESPN schedule is correct. Always unscheduled the last game of the year IIRC because it’s always flexed.
  22. Clark just shed a double team to stuff that run. What a monster DL.
  23. I don't think they have much choice with the guy behind center - he would make any gameplan look like "roll over and die" Possibly true… But their effort thus far displays all the creativity of a wet stick.
  24. They can't get a 1st down so they can't feed him constantly - he's getting like 2 yards a carry. Cook also has a bum shoulder and is coming off a week he was out due to COVID. So the game plan should be rollover and die, with your playoff life on the line? I guess the Vikings’ staff agrees….
