  1. Such a great thing for Leroy to make it. He has remained such a great ambassador for Packer football.
  2. Yeah, it really felt like teams were going with their second or third best options in some cases. I mean, Lovie Smith? Really? Dude got canned at Illinois last year, and that's worthy of a THIRD NFL chance?
  3. I too found the coverage a bit odd. I know NBC is all over having this streaming nonstop on Peacock, but it took me a day to realize that even the daytime coverage this weekend were replays, with replays of replays aired during primetime with a few live items mixed in. I know the time difference is really hard for live events, but they had the same issue with Tokyo just 7 months ago and it feels like they handled the coverage better. Perhaps it'll improve as more sports are up and running, but it has felt off.
  4. Biasaccia was reportedly the Bears' first choice for ST as well, so you have to think the Packers' backed a dump truck of money up to his house to beat the other offers. Good news, obviously.
  5. I agree completely- it feels like they're needlessly digging their heels in on this. Name the All-Pro team and call it a day. It was fun back in the 90s when it felt like the Packers were climbing back to relevance and it was fun to see Favre, etc. play in the game. Now, it's just sad.
  6. Reports tonight indicating that Lovie Smith might be Houston’s next HC, basically implying that no one else is interested in joining that train wreck organization.
  7. Titans seem like a tough fit because they don't have a 2nd and pick late in the 1st (26th). Seems like they'd have to basically be willing to give up their 22 and 23 drafts for a deal to be more attractive than elsewhere, IMO.
  8. Yeah, the name is fine, the jerseys are fine, the logo is pretty poor. The new logo for the 'corporate' side of the team that uses all of their title years is much cooler. I guess I appreciate that in using a bland name, they didn't try to tie it to some super-specific and obscure thing like with the Guardians and the bridge statues...
  9. And still, the fact remains that for them to franchise Adams, they need to clear in excess of $70 million from the cap. Nothing about that statement isn't factual, which is exactly how it was presented. Plenty of people have and will continue to debate how they will do so, but you seem to be taking issue with the number, which isn't really debatable. If they choose to exercise the franchise tag on Adams, they will have to clear $70 million from their cap to do so.
  10. Yes and no. From the start of the new NFL league year in early March until the first week of the regular NFL season in September, only the 51 most expensive contracts actually count against a team’s salary cap. That means those guys who signed "futures" deals will only be counted against the cap until their deals are replaced by free agent signings and draft pick signings. While correct on Top 51, at the moment each one of those contracts counts against the 51 because the roster isn't full. Plus, those guys they sign from here will simply have a netting effect. The 70 million doesn't factor in draft signings or free agents at all.
  11. That’s really not what was asked, though, to be fair. The question was “why does the amount of cap the Packers need to clear keep going up here?”, and adam correctly noted that it’s because thus far the only moves the Packers have made have been to ADD to the 2022 salary cap, this increasing what needs to be cleared. Yeah, there are some logical moves they’ll likely make to address chunks of that, but thus far they have not.
  12. Results obviously made it painful for us, but the games this week and last were absolutely fantastic to watch.
  13. Yes, my understanding is that to tag Adams they have to be $20.12 million under the salary cap at 3cst on March 16th, the start of the league year. Of that I’m 100% sure. I’m less certain on the NFL order of operations, but I’m confident that trades aren’t processed until after the start of the league year.
  14. You have to be at or under the cap at the start of the league year. Trades aren’t processed until after the league year starts regardless of when the trade is agreed to.
  15. Butkus predictably promoted to O line coach.
  16. I think this is a very fair point.
  17. Basically guarantees the Packers have to offer it to Getsy, opening up Steno to Denver.
  18. I mentioned in another thread that it's hard to ignore the 3 mid-round firsts the Eagles have this year. They certainly looked like a team that could make some legit noise in the bad NFC East if they had competent QB play. They probably wouldn't give us all three, but I'd take two this year and their 2023 first.
  19. Unless the guy you want is coaching on a team still playing football this weekend. Considering his Rams ties, wouldn't be shocked if he'd go to that well.
  20. Like it or not, even marginal WRs have offseason value. Lazard probably isn't a 2, but he's likely a 3 most places. The Packers just paid their aging 3 $5.5 million last year, so I'd think they'll be fine paying Lazard $3.3 with no commitment or bonuses beyond that.
  21. Though this is typically true, the Packers have a bit of a mess to work through. About $51 million over right now vs. where they need to be on league day 1, then they still have to tender their ERFAs and Lazard, which will move them to close to $62m over, without signing anyone to replace those that leave or are UFAs, or their draft class. Russ Ball is a wizard and likely has a bunch of stuff already in the works that will deal with lots of this, but he's going to earn every dime of his paycheck this off season. We are going to spend $11 million on Lazard and the rest of the ERFA's? I would rather replace Lazard with a draft pick to be honest if he costs anything more than maybe $2 million. Your numbers always seem higher than the 2 websites that are out there, what source do you use? Ken Ingalls, who focuses solely on the Packers and had their cap down to pennies earlier this year. To answer the question- 8 ERFAs= $7.020 million. Lazard is a likely 2nd round tender, which is $3.384. So, 10.404 million between the 9. EDIT: To be fair, I did forget about the Top 51 offsets, so I'll revise down from 62m to a more respectable 58m

  23. Yeah, Getsy is the likely heir should that take place. MLF basically said so in his presser without directly saying so.
  24. If the Packers get through HC hiring season with their offensive staff intact, that will be a massive win.
