  1. Rosenthal's latest has the Dodgers completely out of the chase for Sabathia, and speculates that the Brewers may be nearing a trade. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8318218/Dodgers-out-of-mix-for-Sabathia,-Brewers-close?
  2. maybe the Indians were the ones leaking LaPorta, Green & Cain I doubt this very much, as that report initially came from Haudricourt, who almost certainly got his info from his sources with the Brewers organization.
  3. You never know how specific top players are going to respond to the heightened pressure. It could also have been due to him having thrown nearly 250 innings in the regular season and being exhausted, FWIW.
  4. Peavey are you listening to a local station (Mark Chmura Show) or you listening to the national version of ESPN of Gameday on a satellite or internet feed? National feed, Madtown.
  5. Anything is possible, but I don't see CLE, a team with a terrible bullpen, throwing us a capable reliever in addition to the top SP on the market, and one of the best SP's in MLB. What exactly does Cleveland have to gain by holding on to a capable reliever at this point? Chasing that 73rd win?
  6. Phillips on BBTN said: 'The Brewers are the front runners, but they want to hold on to Matt LaPorta. If they don't give up LaPorta, that may open the door for other teams.'
  7. Again, I didn't hear anything about the Sabathia deal on ESPN Radio's 'Sportscenter' 20/40 update- if they're getting the stuff about the offer from Steve Phillips, then I put less credibility on that report than the one supposedly from AM1100.
  8. Gah, he's not kidding folks. I had a browser crash, and cleared everything out- it's not pretty.
  9. Ajay, what more could the Brewers want? A good reliever to replace Mota would probably be very high on their want list.
  10. For the record, there was absolutely nothing mentioned regarding CC on ESPN Radio's top of the hour news report.
  11. One of the rules in investing or in this case trading for a player is you can not get emotionally attached. That's true- but that's what Melvin and co. should be following, not necessarily the fan base. Of course we're going to be disappointed at this point- a lot of people have been checking this thread and various sources around the web by the minute most of the weekend.
  12. Tom's latest update (at the bottom after the lineups:) http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/07/06/brewers-go-for-sweep.aspx
  13. Nice. So now people aren't just making up rumors, they're making up fictional radio programs, too?! Yeah, it sure seems to be trolling. Not one of the 4 Indians message boards can confirm this 'report', as none have anything about the offer being declined or any report on Am 1100. I'm guessing it's just someone trying to stir things up.
  14. And actually, considering AM 1100 out of Cleveland has Rush Limbaugh on the air this morning, it really makes be doubt the report. (Unless Rush's show now has a segment dedicated to Indians baseball)
  15. According to 1100 am Cleveland sports talk radio While they could be correct, I'm extremely hesitant to believe anything considering how off-base a lot of the Cleveland fans have been with what they're expecting in return. I mean, they're seriously throwing around names like Braun and saying they should hold out for LaPorta AND Gamel. If their front office is on the same page with that line of thinking, then the two sides are (and should be) very far apart. The other thing that makes me question the report is that Olney reports that the Dodgers really aren't in the running for Sabathia at this point.
  16. Do they check to see if the card works? I think they run it through like any other card initially for approval.
  17. I find it hard to believe that Olney can keep a straight face while trying to sell the quantity over quality argument as to how Philly might trump the Brewers offer. Yeah, that was practically laughable. He's not even acknowledging the rumors that the Brewers are offering 3 players as well. As if they're going to turn down a deal with a superior player like LaPorta if the Phillies offer them 6 low-level prospects.
  18. According to that Olney article, the Dodgers aren't really in the mix for Sabathia right now, FWIW.
  19. You know, it's not just that Billy hasn't played well this year, he's also not doing anything right whatsoever.
  20. Wow from that link: [The Brewers] restructured their offer for the left-hander Saturday, sources said. Very, very interesting.
  21. My apologies No problem- we're all excited and there's a ton of info/material coming in fast and furious.
  22. As a reminder, please don't cut and paste entire content from elsewhere do to potential copyright concerns- please provide links. Thanks!
  23. That worries me a little about the Hu and Laroche being ranked so high. Don't worry too much- if they put out a new ranking right now, neither would be ranked in the Top 100 at all, IMO. And LaPorta probably would be in the Top 20 for sure.
  24. I think the brewers need to give it here our offer and take it or leave it so they can move on. I think that's more or less where we are at this point- the Brewers have made their offer, now the ball is in Cleveland's court and they have another day to decide. Not a lot more the Brewers should do right now, as Shapiro needs to figure out that there's no one out there that can top our offer.
