    I cant believe people are suggesting Richie Sexson...let it go already, he is washed up. Most people said the same thing about Russell Branyan a couple of months ago, too. On a minor league deal, what's the harm (unless they want LaPorta playing 1B in Nashville or something)?

    The reason why Yost went with Tavarez in high leverage situations was his experience. I think it was because Tavarez' name happened to be the one drawn from the hat on those days..... The Yankees gobbled [Ponson] up yesterday/today. Good choice of words.

    Tom H reports in his blog that Prince declined a multi year deal for 60 million that the Brewers offered to him. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/06/18/fielder-story-is-a-sticky-situation.aspx Hopefully there aren't a lot of gripes about 'not getting what he's due' in the future, as it was probably a 5 or 6 year deal that would have paid him 10-12 million per to buy out a year or two of free agency, which seems more than fair.

    Wow, that was pretty injury-ish from Mota. I've never watched a guy's mechanics degrade over the course of an inning like that.

    I care a lot more about the Brewers getting the win than anything else. I don't see how booing hall helps the Brewers win. In a vacuum that's true, but when you publicly demand a trade in the media, emotions are certainly in play on both sides.

    I think a lot of the booing was more because Ned took out 3TO for Hall. Hall hasn't gotten too many boos lately, but when you take out the guy who crushed a HR earlier, fans will boo. The booing was very, very loud after Hall hit the tapper back to the pitcher. I think almost all of it was directed directly at Hall.

    Everyone certainly has the right to vote how they want to. But it seems as if the choice is between voting for guys who may be deserving but have little to no chance, or voting for a guy who is having a great year so far that is probably All-Star caliber and probably has a legitimate shot at starting over the three guys in front of him that are less deserving than him. And he's a Brewer to boot. Made my choice fairly easy.

    Branyan needs to make the all-star team so all the other NL all stars can tell their grandkids that they got to play alongside 3TO, at least for one game. Branyan needs to make the all-star team so we can see him participate in just ONE HR derby....

    Crabbe was just sent back to the Brewers and being picked in the Rule 5 draft, no? Why would they want him? They obviously liked him enough to take him, but like most predicted, he just wasn't ready. If he was traded, they could develop him however fast they'd like at whatever level.

    I don't think you lose a pick unless they are Type A's. I think he meant that they wouldn't be losing the potential comp pick if they just hung on to Maddux since he's likely retiring at the end of the year.

    You see, no one ever bothered to talk about the fact that youth, or the younger player is better to have, which is essentially what you're saying. The argument is simply that the younger player is better. I understand what you're saying. It is possible that if something like that is said in say, May though, they might be implying that the 22 year old is young and might get better as they gain more experience as the season goes on, while it's extremely unlikely that the 32 year would be able to say the same. But yeah, in the big picture, it's more a focus on the idea that the young players will get better than they are now in future seasons and the cost rather than them actually being better at baseball, I guess.

    Yep, we had the Braun callup for sure. Might have had the Dykstra/Fredrickson signings by a couple of hours from last week as well.

    So apparently the sandbags that have been brought in by FEMA are available at a cost of $.25 per bag. Clearly, my cousin who is desperately trying to save his house right now really needed to shell out $1,500 for the sandbags that he's needed to this point. Kudos to the City for realizing how bad thing are and putting an end to the cost this afternoon, regardless of what the 'policy' is.

    Thanks. I thought it would have been a bit better than that. Keep in mind that one of those starts was 6 ER, 8H, 6BB. In his other three, he's been great.

    Honestly, no offense to anyone, but this whole topic should just be locked at this point, IMHO. It's not generating any kind of objective or worthwhile conversation, and has already been discussed in several other threads. Yep.
