  1. Last year in July/August the Brewers were in the thick of a pennant race and did nothing to improve the team. As already mentioned, the Brewers gave up three decent arms/prospects for Linebrink in a deal that didn't work out as intended, but was a legitimate attempt to solidify one of the teams major weaknesses last year. Now, the prospects may well flame out and may look fairly even in the long run (or maybe slanted to the Brewers if they get a major prospect out of the comp picks), but in the short term, it was a bad move.
  2. Ok offense, you can wake the hell up any time now.
  3. Braun actually has two sets this year- one spells 'BRAUN', the other 'ROOKIE OF THE YEAR'. And they're like gold on ebay. I saw one letter going for like $60 a few weeks ago.
  4. So just look for the really, really ridiculously good looking guy and you'll find me. Great, now everyone's going to think I'm Don. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. I'm not opposed to signing most players to minor league deals (assuming that's what this is), but hopefully he tears up Nashville before they ever consider calling him up.
  6. It's too bad Wise developed his issues, as IIRC, he was pretty good against lefty batters.
  7. Your 2008 Milwaukee Brewers: Slightly less fumbling and bumbling all over ourselves on defense. Boy, they sure missed out on that potential marketing campaign.
  8. The Favre in the winter hat looks insanely cool.
  9. No his range is great. His accuracy stinks I agree, but I think FTJ's point was that because he can't make any throws from the hole, it practically nullifies any range on balls going to his right that he gets to.
  10. your owner and GM spent a bunch of money to bring in four new relievers in the offseason and there's currently five guys in the Milwaukee pen capable of going multiple innings. That would be the same bullpen that gave up 9 runs in just over three innings last night, right?
  11. I think the main thing is that the banned word is really in a position where no use of it here is going to be appropriate in any context.
  12. Wow, the Klements commercial this year is stunningly not annoying for the first time in like 5 seasons.
  13. Gameday says the Brewers got charged with an error but Bush has two earned runs? How is that possible? Dunn never would have scored without the error, so that should be unearned, right?
  14. Prince has been awful. Just swinging at complete garbage. Well, he has a .308 BA and .387 OBP.
  15. I heard "This is Our Country" by John Mellencamp on the radio, and was legitimately surprised when it ended up not being part of a Chevy commercial.
  16. Say you're making $70,000/year and the competitor offers you $80,000/year. You're telling me you wouldn't leave? Out of some sense of "loyalty"?? That's a crock. I'd certainly go back to my current employer and give them the chance to match or surpass the offer if I legitimately wanted to stay as I had been saying for the previous 6 months before I left......
  17. I'm enjoying it very much. I think the second episode with the buildup to Independence was probably the best to date, though this week's episode was quite good. Definitely an interesting look into the fact that the revolution and the founding of the new government was really a bunch of bright minds making it up as they go along and winging it.
  18. Once you enter the stadium, collect your bobble, can you go back out and re-enter on the same ticket? No, I'm practically positive there's no re-entry.
  19. For a guy that supposedly garnered a lot of interest, there sure hasn't been a hurry to sign him.
  20. I think the longer Marquette goes without hiring someone, the more likely it is that the hiring is going to be a huge disappointment, IMO.
  21. Fair enough trwi. Perhaps I should have phrased it as 'despite striking out the side, Ben really didn't look comfortable on the mound until the middle innings.' He was really struggling with either location in the 2nd-4th, or trying to find the ump's outside corner, and was keeping some pitches up that were pounded for a few doubles early, but was practically unhitable after the 5th.
  22. The loge crowd around us was appreciative and into the game from the start, which was nice. I agree- the crowd was way into it today. The place was already electric when Sheets struck out the side in the 1st. Ben really didn't seem to have his rhythm until the middle innings. Heck of an outing today. How was Gabe Kapler out of baseball last year? He's been the acquisition of the year so far, with Kendall not terribly far behind. In Doug we Trust! Glad the roof was closed- very comfortable inside, but that wind was wicked on the way to/from the lots, but a great day for baseball and a great game.
  23. I'm starting to wonder if the retros are a myth. I've had relatively good luck with the ones I've gotten at games quality-wise, but I have one Prince that doesn't really bobble since the spring is kinda messed up.
