  1. so you want to give $66 million to one who sits out 70% of the season on the IRL? 70% is a pretty big exaggeration. Assuming a normal starter makes about 32 starts in a complete season, Sheets in his seasons with injury issues (05-07) has still only missed 31%, 47%, and 25% of his starts, respectively.
  2. Maddux would seem to be a logical target. He's performing well, he's certainly an upgrade over someone like Bush, and you'd think he'd be very willing to come to work with his brother. Also, should take too much to get him- something like Gwynn/Pena, if that.
  3. I'm reasonably sure Cot's is wrong there, FTJ. If a team claims a waived player, I've always been with the understanding that they take the salary.
  4. This is going to be lawsuit city for the Madison dispatch, guaranteed. I agree. The department has admitted that the answerer did not follow the proper protocol for a hang up 911 call, in that they were supposed to make a return call to assess the situation. Since they violated protocol, it's almost certain the family will sue.
  5. Dane County 911 services are provided by Dane County employees, not Madison Police Department employees. I heard that today as well- Is this common in larger cities? Are the 911 employees different from the dispatchers?
  6. If things were getting back normal and respectability to the Madison Police Department after the Audrey Seiler fiasco a few years ago How is the Seiler thing the fault of Madison Police? I'm missing your point, I think?
  7. Sweet jeebus- do they employ a sound guy? Two straight days where Bill and Brian's mics are so high that they're crackling?
  8. Yeah, the 10/10 caught my eye this morning. Certainly adds to the hype.
  9. Somewhat surprised there's no discussion of the release of GTA 4 today, expected to break all sales records (yes, including Halo 3) for first week sales. Who plans on picking up a copy?
  10. After 3 consecutive throws to first I don't think booing in that situation is out of line. I think the issue comes from the fans that boo the first throw over when Gwynn is at first.
  11. I certainly don't think he's going to be the answer, just that he's almost surely more likely to spark the offense than an obviously still hurting Gwynn at this point.
  12. Yeah, I think you trade the top prospect that can hit but doesn't really have a position for a top prospect that can also hit and plays catcher for sure. Also doesn't hurt that I was beating the Clement drum pretty heavily on draft day a couple years ago, so I might be biased. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Crappy, crappy offense. What the heck?
  14. if you're under contract for millions of dollars, why are you admitting it/doing it? And why are you admitting in in the middle of a playoff series?
  15. I thought signing Suppan is a good example of Mark A wanting something done that didn't make sense. How did signing a guy who will eat 200+ innings at an above average level when you have 3-4 other guys on the staff that won't come close to 200 innings along with a shaky bullpen not make sense?
  16. He was acquitted on the major charges that would have put him away for a very, very long time. He got the 3 years since he supposedly hadn't filed a return from 1999-2001, a year in prison for each year.
  17. It's almost amazing that we've played so poorly overall and are 3 games over .500. If/when the offense actually wakes up, we should win a lot of games.
  18. I don't think there's a huge problem with back to back posts on occasion, though I think it's preferable to respond to multiple posts in the same post if possible. When it gets to be three or more in a row as we've had on occasion, then it's a problem.
  19. There was really no chance of him pitching the next inning obviously, so why was he allowed to hit? He was up there to bunt. Being short handed on the bench and since Yo handles the bat very well, it was a good call.
  20. Blanton is a great call NDOG. Also, the Dodgers have a ton of free-agent-to-be pitchers that would be really attractive if they don't ever get going this year and are actually willing to sell a bit- figuring that Lowe and Penny (who has an option for 09) are out of our range, someone like Esteban Loaiza could be a solid acquisition and reasonably cheap to get. Definitely not an 'ace' in any sense of the word, but probably both realistic and more in-line with what we'll be adding if we add.
  21. I believe Cameron can actually report to AAA for the last 5 days of his suspension or something like that. I remember reading that somewhere.
  22. There is a minimum, but I think it's more like 10 days, but I'm not sure.
  23. Hopefully it's the training staff just being cautious in the 6th inning of a game that was reasonably in hand. But these things seem to lead to several weeks missed, it seems.
  24. The shaking, which started at about 4:35 a.m. CDT, lasted about 10 seconds. Wow, yes I felt it. I woke up this morning a little after 4:30 and thought it was odd that the bed seemed to be moving even though I wasn't- I thought I was just dreaming.
