  1. The Capital Times is stopping it's daily newspaper, and will become and internet-only paper with a weekly insert in the WSJ after being in print since 1917: http://www.channel3000.com/news/15244670/detail.html
  2. Bobby Knight has surprisingly resigned tonight as Texas Tech coach: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/basketball/ncaa/02/04/knight.resigns.ap/index.html?cnn=yes
  3. A broadcaster getting excited not only conveys the excitement of the moment to the listener, but also the excitement of the crowd and atmosphere.
  4. Hehe- I love how the 2nd line of the description says "This auction is for the Rafael Furcal bat only!" And a COA of what? That Hammonds used it?
  5. Matt LePay is first on my list without a doubt.
  6. Their audience is largely made up of people between the ages of 30-70. It's just logical to put on shows that appeal to a large chunk of that group of people. And yes, that does make Tom Petty a better choice than the Chili Peppers.
  7. You mean the Chicago media ISN'T the only source we should be using to judge our chances in the division next year? Seriously, nice to see some love from some of the bigger media outlets.
  8. Yeah, the Jackson incident finally brought about good halftime shows featuring one act, instead of that crap they pulled before of having 9 different acts in some craptastic medley of songs that no one wants to see or hear like Rydogg mentioned.
  9. Do they have a set ballot (with Pre-determined candidates), or are they simply permitted to write down whomever they please?
  10. Stadium Give Away.
  11. And there's no telling when bobbles could become Beanie Babies, or Pogs Not that I disagree with your point, but bobbles have been 'popular' now for 7-8 years, which is already 3-4 times longer than either of the above mentioned fads.
  12. TV timeouts automatically occur every 4 minutes of game play. They're taken during the first stoppage of play below the 16 minute, 12, 8, and 4 minute mark left in each half.
  13. By the time people get their checks this summer we'll already be coming out of recession By simply announcing it this week, they pushed the market up 400 points in two days (prior to today's sell off). I'd say that might have been more of their goal in terms of the very short term- stabilizing the market.
  14. I'm confused as to why everyone keeps calling it a "loan". It's likely because the government is giving out money that it doesn't have, and is pretty much doing it on 'credit.' The Fed and Congress need to come up with some kind of package to keep the coming recession (And I'm sure it's coming) I don't think it's coming- it's already been here for a couple of months.
  15. Why do they call it a rebate when some potential recipients don't pay any income tax? For them it's a rebate of the payroll tax that we all pay.
  16. Now being reported as $600/person, $1,200/couple, and $300/in addition per child.
  17. I don't want to turn on the TV to any sports channel for the next 3 weeks. I'm the same way, really. If I don't hear a word about football until the start of free agency March 1, I'd be fine with it.
  18. I got my year-end breakdown of my credit card spending today, and I spent a crap load of money on e-bay.
  19. If I hear the word 'Comeback' any more on the 24 hour news channels tonight referring to anyone, I might pull my hair out.
  20. Nermal sounded incredibly female, but IIRC, was male. Kind of like the song Hot Child in the City, which is still stunning to me that it's sung by a guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El6iQ2_dvlc
  21. I have the flu for the first time since 1995, and I had forgotten what a super happy fun time it was.
  22. The staff are happy to announce plans to move the LambeauLeap forums from the current location to the new and improved Lambeauleap.net forums on Yuku! Many posters at Brewerfan have expressed a reluctance to join the forums at LL due to separate registrations, separate links, separate off-topic discussions, etc. By moving the LL board to Yuku, much (if not all) of that has been eliminated. The new forum will not require a second registration if you already have an account at Brewerfan through Yuku. The Off Topic and Trade Post forums at LL will take you directly to the forums at Brewerfan, thus eliminating the possibility that separate discussions would take place on a topic, or that you'll miss out on discussion of something at one site. The Boards will be directly linked to one another from the main forum page on either site- you can simply click the 'Brewerfan.net Forums' forum link on the LL forums front page to go to Brewerfan, and as of Wednesday, January 2nd, vice versa. Not to mention the plus of having a a cleaner, functioning chat as well. We're confident that this will both eliminate some of the hassles of having the two separate sites, and spur a significant increase in membership/activity on the football side of things. The plan for the 'official' migration is for Wednesday, January 2nd. At that time, the current LL board will be locked down, and all discussions will take place at the Yuku board. If you're posting here, you already have a Yuku account, and you shouldn't have to re-register. As with the Brewerfan Yuku migration from this summer, though, you MAY have to go 'apply for approval' before being able to post. We have tried to take care of a chunk of those already, so for some, it won't be an issue. Nonetheless, we'd encourage you to head over to the new board and get that taken care of as soon as you'd like. We hope everyone will like the change. Go Pack! The new board can be found at: http://lambeauleap.yuku.com/
  23. The makers of wrinkle-free shirts should be afraid of false advertising suits.
  24. The Brewers have come a long way or something to jump from $30 for a dinner and autos to $175. Actually, at the bottom of the page it says no autos permitted. Other than whatever the 'autographed souvenir gift' would be.
