  1. There's not a single person that I'm aware of that would consider Tony Corrente a 'top official'. There's a huge difference between 'around the longest' and 'good'. In fact, only the fact that Jeff Triplette was a ref at the same time kept Corrente from being the league's WORST official. Now that Triplette retired, Corrente is head and shoulders above the rest as the worst.
  2. Nagy’s a dead man walking, right? Doesn’t seem possible he keeps his job after this year.
  3. Oh, I agree 100%- it doesn't make a lot of sense. But, your completely reasonable take seems to be the exception (especially throughout Packer universe today....). Meh, I think people rooting against him are the exception. Most are just pointing out the obvious, he didn't look very good. I'm sure the vast majority of those people would love him to figure it out and be an all pro QB for the next 15 years. Probably fair to note the distinction between the general fanbase and the ones posting on social media and calling into radio shows about him, as the split is probably weighted heavily toward the former, but the loudest people are pushing the inverse.
  4. Russell Wilson officially cleared for Sunday vs. Green Bay, because of course it would play out that way.
  5. It should also be noted Aaron Rodgers did not start either game. Thus, did not practice all week with the starters...nor did he really expect to play meaningful football going into said games. That feels like a big difference compared to Jordan Love...who got a ton of practice with the main starters all pre-season, during pre-season, and then most of the week leading up to the Chiefs game. Let me add that at the time of game #1 GB was 3-11. At the time of game #2 GB was 4-6. That is a combined 7-17 team Rodgers played around vs Love playing with a 7-1 team and knowing he would play. Both games were also out of hand, meaning Rodgers was likely facing teams that had 'called off the dogs' and may have been playing backups and/or not blitzing anymore and still put up ugly numbers. If we're going to highlight mitigating circumstances, it's only fair to note the other side as well....
  6. Not seeing the dirty. Better angle Yikes. That's pretty ugly...

  8. Really good point. For all the questions about Joe Barry's hire and the heat he took early in the season, the job he's doing with the defense is really good. Factoring in the injuries, the development of the unit has been excellent.
  9. We touched on this regarding other players in the past- I think that when you strongly take an opinion against a player based on your initial thoughts or his draft position or his impact on other players on the team, it's seemingly tough to move people off that position, even if it's to the detriment of the team your root for. I think you see it in all sports, but it does feel like Packer fans are especially entrenched in their opinions, both good and bad. Honestly, there was a similar situation with Rodgers initially due to Favre. It look a long time for those initial feelings to get lost along the way.
  10. True. Rodgers also had full, normal pre-seasons and offseason camps leading into all of his seasons before last year, which Love did not. I think it's also a little disingenuous to say 'most of the week leading up to,' as the Packers had 10 days to prep for the game, and almost certainly, the first 5-6 of those included developing a game plan with a different starting QB....
  11. Today, after an evening to reflect some, I think the takeaways I have are: I think we all thought and certainly hoped Love would perform better than he did. But, if you had asked me yesterday morning to put money on what I actually though WOULD happen, it would probably have been on an outcome similar to what actually unfolded. It's ok to be both disappointed and still hold hope, I think. As I noted last night, he looked like he settled in by the fourth quarter and had taken steps forward within the game itself. If that development continued into the Seattle game, if he's expected to play, that's a big, big deal. If he regresses, it's a big red flag. Still, as others have noted, even WITH Love's performance, that was a winnable game if not for about 4 key plays- two botched FGs, a botched punt return, and a dropped INT before the half. I know it's overly simplistic, but just 3 of the 4 make it a 13-10 Packer win. In short, plenty of blame to go around. Special teams were horrid yet again, o-line blocking was sketchy a lot of the time, third-down play calling didn't seem to set Love up for success 3-4 times. Plenty of opportunity to learn and improve, and beyond just the QB2 position.
  12. Mentioned yesterday but for emphasis, Rodgers' first NFL games where he was asked to actually play (IE, not subbing in for kneel-downs, etc): 12/19/05- 8/15, 65 YDS, 1 INT 11/19/06- 4/12, 32 YDS, QBR of a whopping 3.7, broke his left foot. Rodgers didn't show flashes of looking like an NFL QB until his third season in the league.
  13. Worth emphasizing. Timing would only have been better with two extra days...
  14. Completely fair- he may have missed yesterday's game regardless. But, he would have had far greater chance to play than the 0% than he gave himself. And there'd be zero chance he'd miss the Seattle game, which is very much up in the air at this point.
  15. I'd say both GB losses this season are the consequence of Rodgers being selfish....but I'd also say at least half of their wins are also due to Rodgers being who he is - a great quarterback with an ego. He's definitely not the 1st of those. And I bet he wont be the last. [sarcasm]Man, look out for 2035 Jordan Love.[/sarcasm]
  16. Lost in all the talk about Love’s performance, let’s all agree that we don’t want to see Amari Rodgers fielding punts like that ever again.
  17. Yeah, the hold was definitely bad. Never even tried to get the laces right.
  18. I hate saying "they shoulda won" because usually you shouldn't have but that Penn St game....it's one thing if the other team forces you into a fumble, it's another when you just muff a handoff. Yeah, the Penn State game is the one they'll look back to at the end of the year as the one that got away. That may end up being the difference between still playing in the Rose Bowl with a loss to OSU in the Big Ten Championship and the seemingly inevitable trip back to the Citrus or Outback Bowl.
  19. I’m not sure that’s fair- he moved the offense competently on both fourth quarter drives, IMO. But did anyone actually say that? I think there's a huge distinction between 'wasn't the sole reason for the loss' or 'played to my expectations considering the circumstances' vs. 'played well'.
  20. Just don't even ever say that name here again please. Yeah, a ban for me mentioning him wouldn’t be out of line
  21. Basically where I’m at. Started poorly and looked full of nerves. Got better as the game went on, which is encouraging. If he does have to start next week, it matters if that in-game development continues into the Seattle game. If it does, it’s the mark of a still learning QB with potential. If not, it’s ultra concerning with a full week or prep. That’s the difference between a possible future starter and Brett Hundley, who never took steps forward.
  22. Maybe your expectations for backup QBs is too high? Heck, look across the field and Mahomes is an int away from having a worse stat line. What’s his excuse? To be fair, my expectation for a 1st round qb who's been preparing for 3 years is at least fairly high. Well, 1.5. And no 2020 preseason in his first year like most other QBs have, to be fair.

  24. Pina, I honestly can’t tell if you’re serious or just trying to draw reactions.
  25. I think they thought Love could be that guy. All I heard last year was "well at least at worst we'll have a great backup QB now" I thought he filled that role just fine today. You need your backup QB to come into a game on short notice and give you a chance to win. Today, check.
