Had the #9 guy 0-2 to get out of it and couldn't. Really wish they had tried the hook at least once. Also was surprised they overturned the double play, looked like a tie if anything to me which would revert to the original call.

Another thing -- if the Cubs are really interested in Machado long term, getting him to Chicago and experiencing the culture, winning, etc., may give them an extra shot at signing him this off season. While money will talk, if all things are equal - and Machado enjoyed his time in Chicago and likes their chances going forward - it might help them sign him. Of course, that only matters if the Cubs are interested in Machado longterm. Can the Cubs realistically afford 35-40M a year for Machado? I mean I know they have gobs of money compared to us, but they haven't exactly been a shining example of fiscal responsibility. Hayward is the worst one, but Darvish, Lester...they've got some guys in the low 8 figure a year commitments too. Rizzo has a decent contract through 2021 and I would guess they plan on letting him walk after, but I would guess Bryant is going to start approaching $20M or so annually in his later years of arbitration and there's no way they're going to let him walk, right? I guess it wouldn't be too surprising though if they're in on one of Machado or Harper. I would think they might prefer Machado.

I gave up smoking a week ago and its been intensely difficult. You realize right away within the first few days how much of your life revolved around that next cigarette. I keep pictures of my kids around when things get especially difficult to look at and remind myself of why I am doing this.

Someone is definitely going to get this guy. I'm guessing the price tag is going to be a little higher than we have thought because of the bidding and the level of potential superstardom you're getting here. Epstein has come out and said he's not giving up premium prices for rentals anymore. Posturing, or real?

The great results of the pen have been spoiling us. This is more how typical pens work. Good days and not so good days. Logan is a proven solid MLB pitcher. Probably still working out the rust. I'l give him the benefit of the doubt. This is the perfect spot for him to get work. Meh, I could take Logan or leave him, he's not as proven solid as you'd think, just been around a long time. There isn't much margin for errorBut he has been proven pretty solid at retiring left handed batters. As long as that's all we plan for, I agree, he should get better at that and be given some time.

It does sound crazy by traditional valuations, but relievers in baseball are kind of in the midst of a revolution. Look at it in reverse. If the Braves came and offered Robert Acuna straight up for Hader, would you do it? I don't know that I would. I might need more. I would do it straight up for Ohtani probably. -
Kudos to Rock for saying Darnell Coles has the "toughest job in America" then backpedaling 2 seconds later upon realizing how badly that's going to come across in 2018 America.

Yeah it really doesn't. If the error caused the advancement it also caused the non out at 1st. It's not like it was a bang bang play where they gave him the benefit of the doubt because maybe he would have been safe. Makes no sense to give him a single.
