  1. You’re just lucky their home stadium has a roof or you’d hear about the Legend of the 1982 Brewers during every rain delay.
  2. Man, I really thought that was out, but at least we got 1 back,
  3. This would be a 4 hour game if every pitch that this dumb umpire missed got challenged.
  4. Bauers. You’re not going to make up 4 runs with 1 swing and 1 on. Gotta stay patient. That was WAY out of the zone.
  5. He’s actually better against lefties this season although for his career he’s more of a traditional splits guy. I don't know. At this point in his career he’s just not that valuable of a player, to me. You can’t play him anywhere in the field so there’s absolutely no flexibility which robs every other regular from getting days off from playing in the field. This would be fine if he raked, and he’s not a liability. He just isn’t such a great hitter that your lineup can’t live without him. Very streaky.
  6. It doesn’t change the fact that he’s still our second best starter. It also isn’t realistic to think he’d continue to be a 1.50 ERA starter.
  7. Can’t remember, it was in a thread last week. Basically saying it wouldn’t be worthwhile because as a #3 behind Miz and Harrison, Skubal wouldn’t see enough playoff games.
  8. Basically the same pitches Rengifo saw last AB only this time he didn’t swing at them.
  9. Harrison has been amazing, but all the “we don’t need Skubal, he’d be our #3 starter in the playoffs behind Miz and Harrison” rhetoric is just a tad premature. Let’s give him more than 11 starts before we proclaim him better than the back to back AL Cy Young winner.
  10. Did we get a minor league homeplate umpire as well?
  11. Good to see you do know how to tap your helmet, Bill.
  12. Hope the offense keeps it up today, because it appears that Kyle Harrison is going to have an “ERA correction” game.
  13. The Bauers/Vaughn 1B soft platoon would have 20 HR already if Vaughn was healthy all year.
  14. Someone let Rengifo know he doesn’t hit nearly well enough to hack that much out of the zone.
  15. It’s a bit unusual , but not unprecedented, for players to sign extensions during the season. In Lara’s case (if it is indeed an extension), the logic seems to track. It’s unlikely the Brewers would have been interested in a long-term deal with Lara before this season. As the season progressed it’s plausible that the Brewers saw enough to believe that this is someone they wanted to build around and approach Lara’s representation to gauge interest in the last week or two.
  16. Couple questions regarding this: 1) if an extension happens is it immediately necessary to clear a spot on the 40 for Lara? 2) would it make a promotion in the near future more likely, or no impact? It certainly wouldn’t make it less likely and if he’s added to the 40 that certainly helps but as we’ve seen with Pratt it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re coming up. Lara has outperformed Pratt considerably this season, though.
  17. Because once he’s a proven MLB commodity it’s a different conversation and different price point. I’m totally fine if we do 10 of these contracts. If 3 turn out to be superstars. 4 turn out to be serviceable starters, and 3 turn out to be busts, we will come out way ahead. I can understand some skepticism on Lara given his production before this season, but I have a lot of faith if the scouting department feels like he unlocked something. Truth be told Pratt got his deal without really any proven offensive prowess.
  18. It screams extension to me. He’s obviously healthy and if it were bereavement or family related he likely wouldn’t be with the team. Sweet is also not going to tell us that we will know soon enough if it’s a trade, that could always fall through and they are not going to speculate on that before it happens. Hope I’m not just setting myself up to be let down but a lot of signs point to extension for me.
  19. The other thing is — Jett just really hasn’t done enough to force their hand. He started slow, picked it up for a bit and now has been cooling off a bit again. He's a nice, versatile prospect but a .700 OPS in AAA as a super sub doesn’t really scream as someone who is going to come up and be better than the status quo. Pratt is a little closer and the contract and the fact that he’s already on the 40 work in his favor. But again, til they figure out what they’re going to do with Ortiz, the difference between the two is probably marginal. Lara is the only one where you can look at his stats and wonder what else he could possibly do, and I think that’s a fair question. So it’s much more related to his own long-term development; I don’t think many people would argue that he couldn’t show up today and be more valuable than Perkins.
  20. I’ve been as big of an advocate for Lara as anybody, but I never would have dreamed as a Brewer fan in the early 2000s watching to see if Ronnie Belliard and John Vander Wal could get us to 65 wins, that we’d ever have a perennial playoff team on pace for 103 wins in June whose biggest problem is we can’t find enough playing time to justify bringing up our hotshot 21 year old outfield prospect raking with a .947 OPS in AAA. What an awfully good problem to have.
  21. Last year I had no expectations for the NLCS. Won a playoff series finally, beat the Cubs, felt really good. Really feel like it’s okay to start moving forward with the mindset that we should start competing for a World Series. It doesn’t mean that the entire season is a failure if it doesn’t happen but we have been around the block enough times where it should be the big goal.
  22. He does however have a couple big rips finally today. He’s that co-worker that is appreciated for his brawn because the brains are not much.
  23. Really could have been 6.1 and 0 ER. I think Chourio would tell you he should hit that throw.
