  1. Conversely it could easily be 1-0 Brewers. Just ever so slight misplays by Ortiz and Hamilton contributed to both runs.
  2. I sure ABS gets expanded. It’s not perfect but a game like this, even with an umpire who has been okay for the most part, shows you how sideways things go when the umpire does a bad job. Strike 1 to Turang nowhere close but can’t challenge, so then the next pitch is 0-2 instead of 1-1, and he has to chase with 2 strikes at a pitch way out of the zone.
  3. “If I had a superpower, I’d like to read minds.” No trust me kid you probably don’t.
  4. Really a bummer to come out of that inning empty handed.
  5. Did the announcer just say, “that’s a cute little guy, Joey,” ?
  6. Nice work by Drohan in an inning that he kind of got let down by his defense a bit. Could have been much worse.
  7. Not retiring Albies on a routine groundball is really coming back to hurt.
  8. Tons of crying on Twitter/X today from the Cub fans about how the Mariners just layed down for us and are doing everything they can to beat them. Maybe if you’re this concerned about the Seattle Mariners trying to be competitive against you, you’re not as good as you thought you are.
  9. Bregman has a 4.2 WAR this year Yelich has a -0.2 WAR this year, is 2 and an half years older than Bregman and can’t field a position. Sometimes it’s regression to the mean and sometimes Father Time has come and said it’s your turn.
  10. The big elephant in the room in October is that he really isn’t a good fit at all for the playoff roster.
  11. They’ll never do this but, if you make Vaughn the full time DH and Bauers the full time 1B, there is plenty of extra innings in the outfield. The rest of the outfield including Lara and Frelick can split up Bauers’ vacated innings and there will then be plenty of playing time to go around. And the bonus is that you’re going to have consistently elite outfield defense everywhere at all times, not just in the late innings. Of course, this is all contingent on Yelich riding pine, so not happening.
  12. Update: Lara is completely safe and not going down, IMO. Even if he loses some time, which is possible, if not probable, they clearly value his defense and we’re going to at minimum see that in the late innings. There’s no singular answer of Sal or Lara. The answer is both, Lara will play slightly less. Sal will play slightly less than he was. Mitchell and Chourio might have 1-2 less starts the rest of the season than they would have had. Yelich may lose some time. And really it’s not a bad thing for anyone as they try to stay fresh for October.
  13. I think 99% of people here realize this is a really good team, while also acknowledging that the regular season results are relatively meaningless in relation to what it means for our chances in the postseason against the same team (we were 6-0 against the Dodgers in the regular season last year). The missing piece the success puzzle is and has always been that trip to the World Series. It doesn’t mean the season is a failure without that, but I can understand the skeptics on taking that final step until they can get over the hump and prove otherwise. Last season was a step in the right direction. Before that the narrative was even closer to “they can’t win in the playoffs at all.” Beating the Cubs was a big deal.
  14. Let’s get to Wednesday and get Uribe back.
  15. I realize the options aren’t plentiful but I don’t think there’s anyone in the pen I feel worse about having a possible blowup inning than Ashby.
  16. First, he’s got 10 HR this year between the minors and bigs. Not really his game, but you don’t do that if you don’t even have gap power. And as you say, he’s 21. Obviously regardless, you don’t need to have power to have value.
  17. Alright let’s not do the walk thing, Patrick.
  18. Lara now has a higher OPS than Pratt. I think it was only like a week ago when the consensus was that Pratt has shown it with the bat and we haven’t seen it with Lara. Shows how fast things can change in such a small sample.
  19. I’m surprised that you would besmirch him like that after you unsurprisingly just got done telling us how much better and more intelligent you are than the rest of us for seeing his breakout coming while we wanted him gone last year.
  20. I agree, wasn’t his best day but to still have the outing and numbers he did shows the talent.
