I mean they didn’t remember how to score in the 10th per se they just did the advancing the baserunners and productive outs thing correctly. Which was enough.
His average is down but his OBP is higher than last year, so he’s walking more too and hitting for more power.
If he’s going to hit 25 HR and get on base 37% of the time I can live just fine with a 26% K rate.
So if it’s the Celtics we’re likely getting Brown. What exactly is the point of this? To go from a bad team with a superstar player to a bad team with a star player?
I think the long outings by Patrick are somewhat designed to keep him stretched out. I think they want to preserve the ability to start him or ask him for 4-5 innings in the middle of a game rather than just treat him like their other relievers.
Okay, but you are arguing that one player is just as good of a hitter from his platoon dominant side, as another hitter is from his non-platoon dominant side.
That is not a super strong argument for Frelick as a player overall. It’s just saying that there isn’t a big difference when Vaughn comes to the plate with a bad R/R matchup than when Frelick comes up with the platoon advantage.
Well, be careful who you give away …. While I am by no means calling that a bad deal — Drew Rasmussen would sure look good in this rotation right now.
I suppose both teams are probably happy with what they got out of that deal.
Lest things get taken way out of context like often occurs I am again by no means saying that Murphy sucks and shouldn’t be our manager.
By and large I don’t really think there are any “special” managers and most just either win or lose 2-3 games during the course of a season and this can vary from season to season, Ned Yost won a World Series, presumably he was a very good manager that year. Would we all consider Ned Yost a very good manager in hindsight ?
All I’m saying is that it’s far more organizational here and if they replaced Murphy with Rickie Weeks or whoever else tomorrow the beat is just going to go on and they are not going to suddenly devolve into an 85 win team.
I’m not saying Counsell was “better” by any means but this is not a fair or apples to apples comparison when you’re talking about managers that took over their respective teams at very different times and when the organization was in a much different place.
