There’s a pretty strong argument that Patrick deserves to be here over him.

Trading some prospects that people really liked to rent him for less than 3 months and then watching him suck for pretty much most of the 3 months will have that effect.

Yeah I remember the discussions at the time talking about getting Contreras and the reactions were almost universal along the lines of “Just Ruiz? There’s no way it’s just Ruiz.” Payamps was actually a pretty significant contributor too, albeit for a very short time.

I think about this trade a lot, and I’m thinking about it now that two of the byproducts of it might be #1 and #2 of our postseason MVPs on our World Series run.

We are on the cusp of our first World Series and your top priority is playing the “I told you so” game, digging for the coldest takes you can find, throwing things in peoples’ faces, and tainting a Game 3 thread that had gone gloriously, game and IGT, by calling people out for takes that were not even part of the conversation or game at hand at all. Good heavens, just enjoy celebrating the game and team at this point with many, many others who also love the Brewers and are ecstatic to be on the cusp of what we’ve wanted to see for our entire lives. Or, don’t. I can’t tell you what to do, so if you really feel the time and research needed to drag everyone else who didn’t share your every perspective along the way vindicates you, knock yourself out.

Brandon Woodruff is pitching in a World Series tonight, I remember the 4th of July. I thought he’d never pitch again. So, this is lowkey a pretty incredible story.

I’m certainly not guaranteeing a dynasty. It’s really hard to win a World Series and nothing is ever guaranteed. I’m just saying we have good reason to think we’re going to be really good for a really long time.

I have bad news for the rest of MLB and particularly the NL. Our window isn’t close to closing. It actually just only started to open.

Yeah I felt like everyone just kind of assumed that okay Tampa is probably going to rally and get one back at home in Game 3, right? But as good as Gasser as been this this always felt like a winnable game.

Everyone talked about how smart he was in Game 1 to save his horses and how good the Rays felt in spite of the lost, but his B relievers gave up a run in a winnable 1 run game. Not a whole lot he could have done to change this one, though.

People talk about Ashby, and Contreras. There is not nearly enough appreciation to what Gasser has given us in the postseason.

And even though there wasn’t a hint of that tonight you somehow had to make this all about that.
