  1. Feels like it's been that way all year for him.
  2. Lackey's reaction was hilarious. He looked like he came home and found his dog stabbed to death.
  3. Shaw didn't go around, but of course they ring him up anyway.
  4. As a matter of fact I did, I saw a tough play that could have been converted with a great defensive play, but was not. Holy smokes, all I said was 'Bad throw.' You'd think I called for him to be benched and DFA'ed.
  5. Huh? I didn't say it was an easy play, it was a tough play. It was however a makeable play, I simply said bad throw, which it was, and the play not being made has directly caused 2 runs to score.
  6. It was an infield single!!! Comeon... Did you see the play? An on-target throw gets him quite easily.
  7. Bad throw Davies, he had time to get Contreras. 1 run should be more than enough against this inept offense.
  8. We might utterly destroy the record before we are done.
  9. Read we are 0 for our last 29 with RISP. Franchise record is 0 for 30.
  10. Didn't they have 39 on the roster coming into today?
  11. They are not moving Hader to the rotation. Stearns has basically flat out said this. Frankly the pen needs him a lot more.
  12. Sellers aren't going to be as turned off as you think by 2/3 of his first pro season of subpar production coming off knee surgery. The same swing, bat speed, tools, etc are still there. To say he's killed his trade value is a massive exaggeration and likely not true. That would be like saying brinson killed his trade value last year with his aa stat line and injury prior to the deal. Its probably an unfair assessment on my part, but it remains true that if Ray were tearing it up in High A this year, the A's are likely far more interested in him. Since he's not, it was Brinson or bust for the A's -- Thus killing the trade.
  13. Too early to say. Hard to predict buyers and sellers the next few years. To me, no one is untouchable either, but Gray IMO just isn't good enough. I might have given up Brinson for Quintana, given the extra years of control, but not Gray.
  14. I think you deserve the opportunity, what is your 3 day and 2018 plan?
  15. Why is Wilkerson a 'must-add'? He's a nice story, but he's also a 28 year old minor league/independent ball journeyman. I can't see teams lining up to take him in the Rule 5. 1) He's been pitching great this year, and B) As bad as starting pitching has been this year (as of a few days ago, Garza had the 26th best ERA in the NL among pitchers with at least 60 IP, and two of those above him are primarily relievers), anyone who could be a 4th/5th starter right now would be snapped up immediately. There are a ton of guys who 'could be' #5's in our system if given a long enough look. Wilkerson, Espino, Wang, Jungmann...probably others. I can't believe all of these guys have any real value. Wilkerson is 28, so he's not a great Rule 5 candidate. Most rebuilding teams probably prefer flyers on guys who aren't pushing 30 and have better stuff than Wilkerson. Most contenders have a safer plan for the back of their rotation than a Rule 5 starter who has never pitched at the MLB level I think it would be possible for him to be selected, just don't think it's at all close to being a slam dunk like you do.
  16. Then he was exposed yet again to the rule 5 by us last year and not selected. Not hating on Wang, I'm glad he is up and getting a shot. Just pointing out he's not really the prospect he once was. I hope he comes up and has success.
  17. Because they really like Estevan Florial, pretty clearly more than they like Ray. Maybe their scouting department just doesn't like Ray. It's not so much about who they will come off of as it is how much they like the alternatives. If the A's don't like any of our OF prospects besides Brinson there is not much we can do.
  18. A no brainer in the middle of a pennant race is NOT to give a start(s) to a rookie. Go out and get a damn arm...problem solved. Dude, they're not trading for Gray. Let it go. And yeah, that rookie pitcher Hader has been so awful.
  19. I would guess Guerra goes down or to the DL tomorrow, and Webb, Lopez or Jungmanm comes up until late next week and then goes back down for Woodruff.
  20. Everything lines up for Woodruff, who pitched 5 shutout for the Sky Sox tonight, to make Guerra's next start. To me, it's a no-brainer.
  21. It's too bad Corey Ray has stunk up the joint this year. He's killed his trade value, if he was even halfway decent in Carolina, Gray is probably easily obtainable for him and perhaps even the Sox prefer our offer for Quintana over the Cubs, which was a huge turning point in the season. Can't blame sellers for not being interested in a supposedly advanced college bat in High A who is neither productive nor young for his level as the centerpiece of a deal.
  22. It's definitely not a game you can put on Counsell tonight, but I do have one question. Why is one of your best hitters, 24 year old Domingo Santana, getting a night off in such an absolutely critical series?
  23. If they want to go ahead and add Kinsler for this year and next, if we're not giving up much, I'm on board. I am pretty much ready to throw in the towel on Villar and Sogard is still a mediocre MLB journeyman on his last fumes of getting starts off an unsustainable month in May.
